I found an RG450DX at a pawn shop mispriced for $39.99 not too long ago. In basically mint condition as well. Swapped the pickguard for a single humbucker black one, threw a bare Knuckle Juggernaut in there, and sanded down the poly on the neck.
    Plays and sounds great now.

I have a couple of Indonesian-made, Edge III-equipped Ibanezes, and there are really only three issues with the bridge itself: no locking studs, a zinc pot metal resonator block, and and the knife edges aren't quite as strong as you'd find on an OFR. You can alleviate the lack of locking studs with a little bit of plumber's tape around the studs when you first screw them in; it won't completely get rid of the post wobble, but it lessens it enough that you should at least be back in tune after coming back up from a bar dive. As for the block, FU Tone makes brass replacement blocks for the Edge III.

Rescued one of these for $80.00 a couple months ago. I can't understand why people take the back plate off and misplace them??? Took it completely apart, cleaned everything then buffed the body. Still yellowed but at the price point I'm happy! It's a 2004 Made In Korea.

I have a modded RGA8 and wanted a 80''s like shred guitar and set my eyes on the RG350DX - didn't know should I pull the trigger but this video made me order it today (used). My first guitar was a RG350M, i got it used and it looked neon green in photos but when it arrived it was an ugly banana yellow. It played terrible and i couldn't afford to get it in shape and didnt have tools like i do now to do my own fret work so i sold it and now i regret it. Somehow i forgot it was my first guitar and i thought my explorer kit guitar was first until i found a picture today of them next to each other before i even finished the explorer. I should've just kept it and repainted it or something. I just suddenly got nostalgic for it today when i saw one of the former guitarists of Cancerslug playing one similar or even identical to the one you have. Thats when i went back through pictures and remembered it was actually first. Kinda bummed me out and now i really wanna find another one. Mine had a single invader humbucker which i took out and put back to stock when i sold it. Im like you i could never see myself with a super strat especially a cheap RG I've always been drawn to explorer/iceman type guitars. Had an EMG hetset i sold too around the same time, should've just put them in it and fixed and repainted it. Apologies for the long rambling comment, appreciate the video man love the channel

Bridge is okay.. but the pickups are horrendous to my taste very muddy as mentioned in the video. I have the Same guitar that I have upgraded the pickups to dimarzio crunch lab and liquifire, cancelled the tone knob and made it just the volume, changed the whole electronics, Jack, made it 3 way switch and changed the pick guard from HSH to HH.. I am considering changing the bridge to gotoh or schaller.. I have read in one of the forums that the pro edge is okay but nowhere close to being compared to gotoh or schaller.

Beauty, a keeper! I wouldnt change the pickups either but im sort of a pickup purist, i figure the guitar was designed for those so let it be, plus these really do sound great but if you say they're not doing your amp justice then yeah it would be cool to actually hear the difference. But im trying to get away from all that stuff myself so i dont want to encourage others honestly. But im still tone chasing, thats fun to shape a nice tone, but the guitar chasing has to stop, im convinced. At leaste for me anyway I can only really pull somethings off if i know the guitar really well and you dont know how much you do until you try another guitar and are like feeling way off and need a few weeks to get used to it, then go back to your other guitar and ahve to re-get used o that one, so im trying to stick to one guitar and would also encourage the serial guitars changers to try and stick to one. Next step, tone, picking one tone... damn thats going to be a hard one. Thats like commitment, getting a guitar is dating but picking a tone is like... marriage. Dont want to go that far yet!

I will also say, I have a few Ibanez, and the pickups in my 450dx, while not the worst, pale in comparison to the old Vs in my 90s model Japanese Ibanez. Either way though, you could do much worse with a lot of these Chinese guitars out there. The HSH design in the Ibanez is insanely versitile and eve and the stock pickups in the DX models will a huge range of tones. Switch positions 2, 3, and 4, will get you the bell like strat tone, or the phased 2 and 4 position on the standard strat. If you do keep the stock pickups I do recommend changing the cap in the tone knob though to something not so muddy, and maybe a treble bleed ($7 best upgrade ever).
