  • In this video, I show you that Dr. Anothy Fauci's mask worn while throwing out the first baseball is strangely included with real historical items like "Star Wars" R2-D2 and C-3PO, Prince's guitar, "The Wizard of Oz" Dorothy's ruby red slippers, Kermit the Frog, Muhammad Ali's robe, Mr. Roger's sweater and sneakers. #fauci #smithsonian #starwars #popculture #washingtondc

UPDATE: I asked the Smithsonian spokespeople about the masks looking different. This is the response:
There were two masks, and he wore one mask to throw out the ball and then signed and donated the unused one to the National Museum of American History.
As Dr. Fauci is an infectious disease specialist, you can understand why the unworn mask was the one selected.

    EM, Thank You!
Girl, you know I love your "news" vids, but I must say your "tourist" and POI type vids such as this, anything to do with my beloved Marine Corps, Hillwood Estate, or any other fun/historic place are quickly becoming some of my favs.
As you young kids say, "this gave me the feels".
I Iove Hollywood nostalgia. I rode "The Great Movie Ride" at Disney's MGM/Hollywood Studios more than a dozen times over multiple visits. Now with my fav DC Docent and Travel Tour Guide Emily Miller taking me on a private viewing of the Smithsonian "Entertainment Nation" exhibit, my life is nearly complete.😉
At 61, I remember seeing the real Buffalo Bob Smith and his fav Puppet Pal Howdy Doody at Cordova Mall in Pensacola, FL in early 1970s. I remember listening to my Mom recount stories of her youth watching the Black & White television show. "Hey Kids! What Time Is It? It's Howdy Doody Time." Did you know the man behind Clarabelle the Clown was none other than Bob Keeshan better known as Captain Kangaroo? True.
Growing up in Milton, FL I watched "Wizard of Oz", "All in the Family", "M*A*S*H", etc on a small television. I remember watching and saying "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" to the 4077th on a small, 19" TV set in my college apartment in 1983.
    So many memories.
With my health I will never again visit these places. When I was at Quantico, I made frequent trips to DC. I loved the feeling of Patriotic Pride. Same feeling I have now. Thank You!
    Please do more tours.

Do you have any ideas of tours, that you think would be great for Emily to do ? Eddy, thank you for taking the time to share your memory's.
I wished I had the money to put Emily on an "Honor Flight" with some Marines who served at Iwo Jima and capture their story's before they pass away.
Thank you for your service with the US Marines, Sir !

      @EddyGilley Před rokem +1

@@michaelk4422 Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them. It was my Honor to serve alongside the very best men & women our Nation has to offer.
      I have several ideas.
      1) National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle/Quantico, VA. They have both of the Flags that were lifted on Mt Suribachi. The second raising was the one captured on film from AP War Photographer Joe Rosenthal. The first flag was too small but could be seen by the Sailors offshore, Marines on the Beach, and the Jap soldiers. The second flag could be seen over the entire island of Iwo Jima, and the planes flying overhead.
The man the sculpted the Iwo Jima monument had multiple degrees including a PhD. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII. He became a US citizen at the end of WWII. He is buried in Arlington.
      2. Joint Base Meyer-Henderson/Arlington National Cemetery
This is the home of "The Old Guard", 3rd Infantry Regiment. These are the soldiers that guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. EM, Command Sergeant Major Mike Glover, (Ret) would be a great interview. He is former Special Forces and "Delta Force". He started out as a member of the "Old Guard".
      3. Riding with P6 (Penguin Six) just going about DC. Lots of fun places and trivia. This would be fun.
      4. The Spy Museum. Who doesn't want to be James Bond?
      5. The Van Gogh exhibition.
EM, Van Gogh has been my fav artist since 7th grade. So much emotion and motion in his strokes.
His paintings evoke emotion. He employed impasto technique where the paint is thick and mixed on the canvas. This provided a 3D appearance which also gave his paintings the illusion of movment. His strokes are dramatic, bold and masculine, almost angry, yet when viewed as a whole painting, they convey peace.
I've seen "Starry Night", "Oleanders", and "Cypresses" at MOMA.
"Starry Night Over the Rhone" and many more at Musee d Órsay in Paris. (I Ioved the time I spent in Louvre & Musee d Órsay in Paris, the Tate Gallery & Vicky & Al's in London. I'm a Redneck Nerd and a Reconnaissance Marine, but I prefer Renaissance Man.
I've written far too much. @EmilyMiller, any Guided Tour you do, will be great.

@@EddyGilley You are very welcome Eddy !
Your ideas and suggestions are wonderful !
I wished I lived closer to DC to see and visit all of these great places.
America is so blessed with so many AMAZING things and places to see and DO !
When I was a child, someone sent my parents a "gold foil" photo/image of the Iwo Jima monument.
I still have that to this day and one of my favorite items I own.
A few years ago at work I was talking to a man who was almost deaf - turns out he IS* a Marine and served there in Iwo Jima.
*IS - the Marines have sayings: "Once a Marine - ALWAYS a Marine" and "Every man a rifle man" - words I'll always remember !

    • @EddyGilley
      @EddyGilley Před rokem +1

@@michaelk4422 True. We earn and claim the life-long title of US Marine. We always use the present tense "am", "is" or "are" when describing ourselves.
      I AM a US Marine.
      He IS a US Marine.
      We ARE US Marines.
It is a title that cannot be taken from us. Only we can surrender the title by doing things that dishonor the Corps. A Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge while in service or any being found guilty of a major felony, e.g. Murder.
All other Brances become former Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, or Coasties.
This Country affords us many great locations to visit. From out vast and beautiful natural resources of National and State Parks, to a vast array of museums.
Wherever Emily takes us, I am along for the ride.

I agree Zeke. Emily has a "presence" on camera that draws people into watching her videos. A great example of this would be Emily's video at the Hillwood Estates Museum back in October this year.
Emily's delivery and her great editing made for a FABULOUS video ! Now, I want to see this stunning estate and the gorgeous dresses and outfits that Princess Grace of Monaco wore and were designed by Dior.
Hillwood Estates would be wise to include and invite Emily to their Events because her love for beauty and Hillwood Estates is clearly felt by viewers of this video !
