A few things I spotted in the final teamfight.
    1) There are still 20 seconds on Perkz' death timer when Wunder channels Ornn ult, one of G2's primary engage tools.
    2) G2 win the 4v5 before Perkz enters the fight when Wunder kills Clid
    3) Mikyx's bodyslam onto Faker is semi-blind. Faker could use the blast plant before bodyslam connects if he didn't want to jump the wall towards red buff.
    4) Perkz ults Faker SIX FRAMES after he's airborne from the bodyslam
    5) While 3-4 are happening, Caps has already left Jankos alone in a 2v1
    6) Within one second of Faker dying, there are pings on the botlane wave at inhib, and Caps is already channeling TP.
It's like one brain controlling 10 hands at that point, unreal sequence of events.

Perhaps the most technical series i have ever seen in LOL and im watching since s2.
Two technicaly equal teams, fighting neck to neck in 4 games for every small advantage on the map, not even an inch given without sweat, elegant brilliance.
4 matches that could be won by any of these 2 teams, however at the end of the say G2 proved to be mentally stronger and earned them.
SKT proved once more why they are at the top, with FAKER not being in top shape, they lost in the details against the best team EU has seen since many years.
Glorious performances by all 4 teams and unforgetable matches that will be talked for years to come, in perhaps best worlds semifinals in this game's history.

@@thanhdohuu9473 "Favors" , they've been steadily building up the team since 4 yrs ago. what favors g2 is g2. They've been always the only team that performed well to get to Semis.

    • @thanhdohuu9473
      @thanhdohuu9473 Před 4 lety

@@Jaime_Protein_Cannister LPL also have several super teams that has been slowly building up over the past 5 years but you don't see them doing that well since about 2 seasons ago when RIOT just slowly removing early vision control, safe picks and pump dmg into the game so much that the teams in world stage literally playing carry in every position, even jungle and sometimes support, as well as newly released champions and reworks that once they got fed, it's so hard for anyone to do anything about. Rewarding the aggressive, risk taking, fight-centric play style of LPL.
G2's greatest strength is their flexibility, the other teams don't know which pick goes where until the last seconds, making it hard to counter them or attack their weaknesses, SKT has talented players, but their flexibility is not great, Teddy don't do well on mages, Faker and Khan don't share champions, like Faker doesn't do well on Vlad, Jayce, Quinn, Khan doesn't play Neeko, Ryze and Clid hasn't play Qiyana and default to standard jg picks, if it's Yasuo picks, it's pretty much going to be Teddy.
Flexibility wasn't that important when there was safe picks and a lead from solo lanes wasn't snowballing so hard so quickly that no one else can do anything about. 2 seasons ago, playing safe early was an option, now you can't, "play safe and others will carry" hardly work anymore with one carry easily run everyone over with how much dmg they can do, and you have nothing to do except flaming the snowballed lane. Which leads to the prevalence of super star solo laners who often have inconsistent performances, high high and low low, like TheShy and theShyte, the recent serious vs FPX is a good example, claps and craps, Perkz from super carry mode in game 3 to 1/6 yas in game 4 before the quadra and got carried by Caps, and faker who is adjusting to the high risk style that had super carry performance to straight up looking like he's inting the next game. The reason is because they often have to take risks, be it staying longer with limited vision to get more CS, more level, split pushing, also with limited vision to have pressure and more cs, exp or going deep in teamfights to try to get kills. Sometimes the risk pay off and they run away with it, looking like absolute gods, sometimes it doesn't and they ended up looking like garbage. Such coin flip gameplay also leads to the 3-1 score line in bo5 that the team that won the first game pretty much won the whole series. All games are risky coin flips that heavily rely on executions, one team win the first, the other get one back, then the first team gets the next, now it's 2-1 match point, the trailing team is immediately at immense pressure and has much higher chance to messed up their execution in coin flip teamfights and lose the game. Despite the close first 3 games, no trailing team has been able to win the 4th game this world. This series, SKT wasn't able to attack any position on G2 consistently thanks to G2's flexibility.
I think RIOT has been specifically adjusting to meta to benefit LPL, well, they're owned by Tencent, a Chinese company, so I won't blame them for that, it's still a fair game for everyone, but it's gonna take long for other regions to adjust to new metas. G2 just happens to have the right fit to benefit from the current meta. Europe as a whole isn't actually doing much better than they were before. EU has always been good at adapting to the meta with large player pool and they have reached the Semi consistently before, now with Korean teams still far behind the meta, other regions got a bit further. Though, if LPL doesn't win this world, you can be sure that the meta will be adjusted again, like the ADC meta in season 8 that made RNG with Uzi an unstoppable monster during the year before world.
If you don't notice those changes, you probably haven't play for long enough or not at all observant.
