I Love LA randy newman
Can you guys do any metallica
Italian restaurant!!
Rosanna by Toto!
This kicked ass! Maybe some Jackson Browne next?
David Wain throwing down on the drums! What a revelation!
David and Ken taking the well-worn route to rock super stardom:
(Step 1) Become friends in school.
(Step 2) Spend 30 years toiling in the world of scripted comedy.
(Step 3) Form a band.
(Step 4)) call in favors from pro musicians you know...
@@bbanzai444whoa whoa whoa cool it with the parentheses there adolp
On The Darkside - Eddie and the Cruisers
BUMP THIS!!!!
Good one!!
Oh hell yeah
Great pick!
Yeah Eddie and the Cruisers.
The saxophone player is David Wain's son and the violinist is David Wain's niece.
She is Queen Esplen! Show respect.
@@mknayman I just saw Role Models so I finally get your reference.
@@needles1987 nice! She’s great in that small role. Whole movie is hilarious
If you haven’t seen They Came Together it’s another Wain banger
Ken’s delivery is like Springsteen in the style of a Broadway musical.
That's a great way of putting it!
Nice.
Off Broadway
You can actually understand the lyrics (other than the song title)!
@@56Fitguy My thoughts exactly, with several of these videos!
"David Wain uses Zildjian cymbals but is open to be sponsored by any drum company." Classic.
I just saw that. That's absolutely hilarious
Alright - these 2 vids have been fantastic - Now the challenge - Paradise by the Dashboard Light. You know you want to...
YES!!!!
Oh damn yes
Were we all supposed to just GUESS that Ken Marino had the voice of an angel all this time
He did sing “Private Eyes” out the office window at Veronica Mars that time but it was just a couple of seconds. This is a revelation!
Search for Porcupine Racetrack
Could you cover Come On Eileen?
@@gingerpierce9178 czcams.com/video/nVTzXvD1Mqo/video.html
Met Ken Marino once. Nicest guy in the world, funniest guy in the world, and now one of the greatest voices in the world. Unreal.
Blinded by the light should be on your playlist
The original Bruce, or the Manfred Mann?
Or maybe both?
@@unclemikeyplaysLet's face it: the Manfred Mann's Earth Band cover was WAYYYY better.
Goodbye horses by Q Lazzarus
Are we all just going to ignore how the violinist and cello player are the most attractive middle age dads ever?
All middle age dads are beautiful
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that sublime drumming? G'day from Australia!!
Props for him for trying to pull off the impossible hi-hat/kick drum fill in the break down, as played by drummer "Boom" Carter on Springsteen's version.
"Together, Wendy, we can live with the sadness. I will love you with all the madness in my soul". Still one of my favorite lines ever.
I always loved that he refers to himself and Wendy as “tramps”. 🥰
@@karenstrand-arteaga9848its beautiful! ❤
stumbling upon these videos makes my heart happy.
They were injected inside us. No stumbling till that plunger goes deep.
This is fantastic. Read about you guys doing this and was sad I’d never get to see it. Now I’m sad I never get to be a part of it. I want a Wet Hot American Summer style movie about a group of dads trying to recapture the wonder and mystique of youth by winning a battle of the bands. I’m being very demanding, so I’ll add please, and I love you.
I'd go see that!
I swear this has been done... 🤔🤔🤔
But who is going to illegally seduce the art teacher
Stanley Tucci and Sylvester Stallone on vocals absolutely KILLEDDDD ittt!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This song depends on really strong drumming and David Wain has knocked it out of the park.
Do Thunder Road!!
He's not playing it. This was built in a DAW. That isn't those drums. It's not what he's playing.
I never knew this song was written to "Wendy". Thanks for singing clearly!!
Not gunna lie...And anyone over 50 here will say the same thing....THANK YOU!
Under 50 as well.
Why wouldn’t you just listen to the original?
@@danielandrewgrant Because it's a great tune, and from time to time a cover turns out to be BETTER than the original. Take All Along the Watchtower for example. Written by Bob Dylan, nailed to the Billboard charts by Jimi Hendrix.
I'm not saying the Dads version is better than the Boss. But, they did it justice. And you never know unless you give it a chance.
Cheers
czcams.com/video/vrmZAXezkhA/video.htmlsi=2qcuSqxe4cm9dmX_
A clear step behind but like the effort. It’s not easy to be the Boss.
Well NOW you gotta do "Bat Out of Hell". 😁
That would be EPIC!
Thirded! (I would second, but someone beat me to it!)
Add my voice as a fourth! Yes!
OR bring in someone like Maya Rudolph (who we know has pipes) as a Middle Aged Mom and do "Paradise by the Dashboard Light".
Basically I'm in for ANY Jim Steinman song. 😁
You nailed it folks, it's not a pale attempt at recreation, in is instead a remembering and bring the music and spirit through time to this time where they meld prefectly.
Saw a snippet of MADJB doing The Weight. I would absolutely love to see the full version here.
Greetings from Long Island. NY. I stumbled across your cover of Scenes From an Italian Restaurant. Then I found your page and watched your cover of Born To Run. Now, once I post this comment I will be subscribing to your channel. Wishing you all success.
Ken Marino has been holding out on us. Been a fan for around 30 years and never would have suspected this particular talent.
Which isn't to take anything away from the rest of the band. They back him 100%. But dude is a first rate front man.
I have zero clue who he is...but he's good a got set of pipes
@markw110 long story short, he's been doing sketch and scripted comedy for decades.
@@markw110 He's been in a bunch of great movies and tv shows for years. I recommend checking out the show "Party Down" it's a severely underrated tv show.
Ken Marino's voice. Damn!
I hope you all are having as much fun as it looks like you are!
It's scripted.
Y'all look like you are having fun...and bonus, you sound great too! Thanks for sharing!
Eastbound and Down and now this. This is awesome. Keep that music coming. Thank you, CZcams algorithm for sending this my way.
Somebody get the sax player an adult sized sax. Looks like he's playing with one from fisher price. Nice job, guys.
Request: Two tickets to Paradise.
I'm not a huge fan of Springsteen's music, but it turns out if Bruce was Ken Marino and the E-Street Band was a bunch of middle-aged dads and dudes and offspring and a sweet string section, I actually really dig it!
The nailed the feeling of desperation perfectly.
Like totally loving these guys! You slam it out of the park! How about some Boston?
King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight!!!!
You guys are amazing.
Requests:
The outfield-Your love
Sister Christian
I saw them on this tour in ‘76. :D
You guys rule!
This is my new favorite channel holy smokes
Good to see Captain Stentley keeping busy after leaving the "99" NINE! NINE!
THAT'S GONNA LEAVE A MARK!
Come on and party tonight.
You all are amazing!!
I’m a HUGE boss fan and that was superb the drummer is just SICK
Great job guys. Your drummer is throwing mad Bun E. Carlos vibes lol :)
Come back to Seattle! I just discovered this band, and I missed the show in December.
Shit…same here.
Just 2 songs and I’ve subscribed. Great covers and fun to watch.
When I wished for exactly this on that Monkey's Paw I assumed there would be some sort of downside but it really came together nicely
That "New York" shirt is a brave choice for this song.
freakin nailed it! great job everyone!
More please! This is glorious!
I loved this! I would love to hear "What is Hip" by Tower of Power. With those horns it would be tremendous. Loved the Scenes video - spectacular playing.
"Tonight, on The State...er, MIddle Aged Dad Jam Band, we're breakin' out *all* the classic Boss...Rosalita...Thunder Road...oh sh*t, it's bleeding again..."
Love this. Wish you had done a few songs at the Ryman. Please get Weird Al to come back to the garage.
Sweet Teddy P is this bands SECRET WEAPON. This one and Rio have very complex bass lines that move the song, Teddy got em DOWN!
Damn David can play!
The tongue in cheek is fun, but the musicality is there in spades. Good one.
Love this so much.
Love the red heads representing for Patty! Gotta say, what ever that dad that plays sax is using on his skin is really working! He looks mid 20's at best! Keep on rocking in the free world. Also my song request.
As Doug might say, "this is very copacetic." Nicely done, guys.
Doug has become Dad
You guys are living my dream!!!
This might be the best band I have seen this century
Wow. Amazing cover. The drummer is freaking awesome
The drummer is excellent. Great job team.
Hey that’s Craig from Shudder to Think! Amazing band.
You folks are outstanding! You look like you're having a great time together. Enjoyed your video immensely.
Absolutely love this! Some 80s new wave would be awesome!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Love this!!!!
You All reminded me of days past (70's)walking in some Bar and getting blown away by a band like yourself 😊 those were the Days ❤
Amazing! Thank you for making something I didn't know I needed.
So that's what this song sounds like when I can understand the lead vocalist
Flapjack Big stack!! for real?
1) LOVE IT and look forward to more 2) Mr Springsteen should take notes at 3:10
Great song. Great rendition.
This is what we need right now.
This song is so iconic and so hard to get right ... but you did it! Much respect. Great set-up. Love the studio vibe. Having fun, playing music with friends... that's a great life. Cheers.
Y'all nailed this one, too! What a great ride!
the drumming is great and the essence of this song.
Love the energy, the obvious joy and fun you're having while delivering a pitch perfect cover. ❤

The Infinity Scarf Guy finally got his chance. Big thumbs up!
This is amazing, love it
Wow! Hell yeah, guys!!
I just came across your videos. Outstanding. Keep it up
Another great cover. This just fun.
Absolute magic! Great job!
thanks DPS
You guys are great
This is great!!!
Wow, just wow
David Wain played the lick!! Omg that was awesome!!
I've been a fan of The State since the original broadcasts and somehow I'm continually impressed and surprised by the sheer amount of talent that came out of that group.
Also, this reminds me very much of a band my late cousin and his wife were in many years ago. I think they would have loved this. And as much as I wish I could send your videos back in time to them, I'm okay with just having a reason to remember them and smile.
damn dudes and dudettes... tight group of friends showing some love, keep it going, looks like a whole lotta fun
Ken Marino got some flipping pipes and David Wain crushing it. Great stuff everybody.
Delightful. How about some Hall & Oates?
I have a new favorite band. So cool!!!
40 and still loving it!
So fun! Thanks
I feel like you would absolutely kill Dancing in the Dark, or even We Didn't Start the Fire! Can't wait to hear more from you
Please cover Bruce's entire catalog!
Esplen!!!
That was fun...well done lads
Everybody loves Raymond is jamming!
