- What does a day in the life of a deer stalker look like?
In this new short film, we follow Jack, a deer stalker for the UK’s largest ecological restoration project, Cairngorms Connect. As he heads into the hills with his trusty companion, Ruadh, he offers a unique perspective on what ecological restoration looks like - and the positive results already visible in the expanding treeline.

Great story, beautiful camera work, audio excellent, great b roll and narration work. Wonderful to see videos of this quality on CZcams. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars
Such an important message to get out there. Great job. A story well told.
Beautiful way to capture the land and nature in motion 🌲
Interesting and informative. I look forward to seeing how beaver predation will be managed in the same area.
Great film, great storytelling and a great piece of conservation work
Great stuff👏 the Gorms are one of a few of my favourite places in Scotland 👍🏼
Great work - really nice storytelling and camera work.
Brilliant! Great balanced message
Great film it’s crazy that we import venison from New Zealand i have seen the deer population grow in the last 30 years in a big way and I’ve have been stalking for 30 years and that is basically 4 to 7 days a week I am lucky i can stalk 24,7 prices are a all time low the deer on a all time high 😮
great film
The Fallow deer in the UK are out of control, I've seen game dealers refusing to take carcasses, due to how may are being culled.. its insane.
great video. Can I ask why the rothiemurchus estate are not part of the partnership?
Never have I seen a rifle fired from over the shoulder. 😂
He will be an actor.
This outfit remind me of the John muir trust.
Just trying to remove all commercial and sustainable value from deer so that neighbouring estates go bust then they can do a land grab.

If there is a problem with deer overpopulation, and they want people to eat more venison, why not open these lands up to hunting by the general public? Then, you wouldn't have to pay professional stalkers. Instead, plenty of hunters would actually pay (via license fees) for the privilege of managing the deer herds.
Thanks for your interest in Cairngorms Connect Deer Management.
One of our partners, NatureScot, are currently trialling a Pilot Community Deer Management Scheme, for those local to Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve. There is more information here: www.nature.scot/innovative-community-deer-stalking-pilot-underway-creag-meagaidh
The Partnership currently employs a team of local stalkers, and if any vacancies become available, they will be advertised on our website. We do hope to be able to offer more opportunities in future, so do keep an eye on our website, and sign up to our newsletter here, to hear about the latest involvement opportunities.
We are working to make Cairngorms Connect Venison more accessible locally, and it is available to buy at affordable prices from the Loch Garten Nature Centre during the summer months. We are currently exploring other potential collaborations with local businesses and shops to increase access to local, sustainable, wild venison.
Why on earth you would take a yearling out I do not know 🥴
