Nintendo has always defined the handheld market and unfortunately pricing matters. There was no competitor to the GBA so we all had one, the PSP existed but cost $100 more than the DS back in 2005), the Vita was also $250 but Nintendo slashed the 3DS to $210 and threw Mario Kart in as a bundle (everyone had MK anyway). Sony have never had strong 1st party franchises like Nintendo, there's a reason why there's virtually no bad Mario or Zelda game. The Switch has outstanding sales because like the GBA there's no competition. Nintendo doubled down with the Lite to cut prices even further to appeal to kids and people who wanted to play their flagship games but owned another console.
People hate Nintendo like they hate Apple which is fine, but all that indicates to me is their a strong business with secure long term growth. You don't have to like it, but they know their place in the market - gaming. Sony is a diverse tech production company and Microsoft is all about software, their gaming divisions are just a small part of the company. Nintendo is just gaming. Sony won't bother making another portable when they're pulling 350w out of the PS5 and Microsoft have never bothered at all...

When GT arrived to the psp my use of the psp was marginal (I was working at that moment, and not used a lot) Vita neded use of sdcards (not his propietary expensive system like psp) and good games from the beginning... (well, a good support, I've got the feeling that vita was losing support every day from the first day, I've never had a vita, but in my country the vita TV never arrived, which I think was a fail)

Proper online functionality like voice chat and messages. It was done perfectly and emulates the home console experience. The Switch on the other hand is so BARE BONES in comparison it's frustrating. To keep in mind Vita and PS4 only can use 2.4ghz Wi Fi which is damn slow but with Vita - no issues at all. • @Firebreather719
      @Firebreather719 Před rokem +1

Nintendo have already went way past greed if you think Sony is greedy, the switch still 300 dollars with no price cut, the switch OLED is 350 dollars and offers a OLED screen, a ethernet port, a better kickstand, and slightly better battery life. They release remasters to their games that release 60 dollars and have no changes to them at all. What's the changes in twilight princess HD? They even lock fast travel under a amiibo. Literally all companies are out to make money that's the priority, even with Sony and Nintendo being "greedy" they still delivery games for fanbases. Microsoft can't even do that, at the series x launch no exclusives at all. They release halo infinite which is flopping, and Forza which is just another Forza game in 2021. But 2022 nothing is releasing exclusive, they buy all these studios yet they can't pump out games like Nintendo and Sony.

The aya neo to me is pretty much a vita 2 to me but also so much more aaa pc games, emulators, indie games and even former PlayStation exclusive uncharted legacy collection later this year which includes uncharted 4 and lost legacy dlc games!

The thing that I love the most about the PSVITA is the operating system. The UI was very cool, the fact you could close your apps like you're pulling off a sticker was clever. I wish the Switch had a UI like that... Wake up Nintendo ! It's time to give the switch a proper, customizable and intuitive UI !

Picking my first ps vita up soon it's crazy that this didn't really take off at the time of release.

I still play my Vita, bought in 2019. The Vita really opens up with you jailbreak it. You can install an app called Adrenaline, it’s a PSP emulator, that actually turns your Vita into an actual PSP, with PSP OS and everything.

You're gonna love the Vita! It's a great system and you picked up some great games to start. MK and uncharted are 2 of my favorites. If you like fighting games pick up injustice. Also for adult hands you need to pick up the nyko power grip. You won't regret it!

I just picked up MK for it and it's fun. I wish the online servers were still up though. It would be awesome if someone resurrected it like they are for some PS3 games but I wouldn't hold my breath.

One of my favorite systems ever! Congrats on your purchase. Suggestions for future titles: Dragon's Crown, Lumines, Sly trilogy (get it digitally since I believe sly 3 codes with physical carts are all expired), TxK, Wipe out 2048, EDF Portable 2017, Gravity Rush, Hotline Miami, Zen Pinball 2 (great pick up and play game), YII's Origin, and Tearaway. Also get the Bot Zone DLC for killzone and the wipe out HD and fury track dlc.
For psp games: Star wars force unleashed is surprisingly good, Mortal Kombat Unchained (content complete port of MK Deception), Daxter, Justice League Heroes, Sega Genesis Collection.
Twisted Metal 2, Hogs of War, and Medevil for ps1.

Bot Zone DLC is a must for when you finish the game and you just want a battle royale or some team vs without getting online.

I always wanted a Vita but the prices for the memory cards when it launched were expensive. I liked the PSP more though and even had a few exclusive titles for it. Definitely a handheld ahead of it's time but could have been huge if Sony supported it.

I have owned the Ps Vita for about 9 years and still love it. I had chose this system over Nintendo handhelds as I didn’t like the lack of power and they had poor screen quality. I have the OLED model and it looks amazing. I actually play movies on it while in bed when I’m not gaming. The system has 100’s of titles so modding is really not necessary. Tip, if you get an aftermarket audio device, I recommend getting one that allows you to hardwire it to the PS VITA as Bluetooth can sometimes drop your internet connection.

Vita was amazing hardware for the time, & still holds up pretty well. Shame about the proprietary everything & the pricing at the time. Nice that it runs the psp library. Also runs psx, though using the back touch screen in place of the missing l2/r2 buttons hurts the psx experience. Pretty easy to install custom firmware if you want to emulate retro games as well, which really helps round out the game library. You can also install a regular microsd card via an adapter that way, though it occupies the game card slot so that's only really worth it if you're going digital rather than collecting physical game cartridges. Last I checked the vita store was still up though, so it's certainly an option.

Get an L2/R2 Grip for it if you are going to play PS1 Classics. It's impossible to reliably hit the touch screens for those triggers without the grip.

I’ve not had one for a couple years, but went ahead and bought one today and I’m excited to get back into some of those games. Some of the Vita games were freaking awesome! Still some JRPGs that aren’t available elsewhere that’s convenient. The Vita still holds up today over a decade later. I really wish Sony would dig back into the handheld space instead of going the VR route, because the Vita was so good. The system still holds up today.

The vita would have survived if they treated it as its own console and not a ps peripheral.

Recently I have bought my first vita as well and although it wasnt cheap (I wanted unused vita in perfect condition) I dont regret my purchase. Maybe graphics fidelity isnt exactly on pair with PS3 (graphics looks more like PS2.5) but on such small OLED screen everything looks just jaw droping anyway and I'm still blown away playing games like killzone or uncharted. Aiming on such small analog sticks isnt as precise as I would like, but you can also aim with gyroscope as well and that helps a lot.
Too shame there werent more AAA games like that on vita, but I still have like 50 interesting games to play. Also I have moded my vita, so it can run some classic PC ports like GTA trilogy) and emulators (custom made retoarch with CRT shaders make these retro games looks amazing on OLED, IMO even better than on real CRT).
I hope sony will make another portable console, maybe one that could play PS4 games. Being able to play PS4 games everywhere I go (without streaming) would be so awesome.
You can stream and capture Vita gameplays on PC (there are mamy guides about that on YT), but in order to play vita games on TV without lag and compression artifacts you need "vita PS TV" unfortunately. I wish sony would build vita with tv out (instead of totally unnecesary cameras or back touch panel).
"Whatoplay com" has awesome list of the best vita games and you can also see gameplays / opinions as well in one place, ao it's possible to conclude what games you will like.
