  • Present your slide decks the right way with PowerPoint Live™ in Microsoft Teams meetings. PowerPoint Live is essentially PowerPoint presenter view, but for Teams meetings. See all your slides-including hidden slides-hop to a specific slide, draw on your slides, user a laser pointer, read from slide notes, and more.
This video covers the ins and outs of how to share your slides, how to present them masterfully by making use of all the included tools, and what everyone else in the meeting should expect so you can plan ahead on your content, slide design, and how you'll be seen by your audience.

As a support person I've always preached using downloaded local copies of materials so you don't depend on access to online storage, but I will say Powerpoint Live is growing on me for a lot of the reasons you mentioned.
Now if they would only allow in Teams Live Events and made it so embedded media is captured on recordings we'd be cooking with gas.

One killer feature that was not mentioned is that if you are recording your presentation, the system will auto create bookmarks at the point where you change slides with a title that matches the slide you change to. This is greater for quick access for others to junk to the right location of a meeting.

My complaint with PPT Live in Teams is that our proprietary font changes to Arial when it’s Live. It really messes with the layout. Also, I just had a meeting where we lost the slide the presenter was on because people in the meeting were advancing it themselves. Won’t do that again. I’ll be sure to set presenters from now on. Thanks for the good content!

Do you have a video on what the participants (attendees) see? Can they see my cursor that I've enlarged and colorized?

for education, my teachers fill their ppt with links, and when I am giving PD on a tool, I will link to the tool, I will need to share the screen to show the webtool and then go back to the ppt and back and forth. I almost need to share the screen in these cases. any ideas how to avoid this

I was thinking the same thing. I share documents, demo sharepoints sites on our intranet, etc. during most of my presentations. So I would have to stop sharing, share the screen, stop sharing the screen, reshare the ppt live.

Hi there! At 08:50-ish you say that by default viewers can go through any slide they want. Is there a way to turn this feature off as a default setting?

Thanks Matt. We have tried to use PP LIve in our Teams Meetings but always have this issue: The Presenter can see the slides changing on their screen as they navigate through them but the attendees only see slide 1 - the slides never move for them. I have watched countless videos and read docs on how to use PP Live - we follow the steps to the T, but it doesn't work for us. We have a copy of the PPTX on desktop, click on Share > browse > select the pptx from desktop. We don't allow participants to navigate through the slides themselves so we turn that off. Everyone in the meeting sees slide 1. Presenter navigates to the next slide but for the rest of the presentation all participants only see slide 1. Do you have any idea why PP Live is not working for us? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Rj.

Our organization runs both in-person and web meetings at the same time. Is Teams capable of sharing the PowerPoint both in teams and the slide view in person on a projector?

Useful stuff, but I don't think I'll use it until the presenter mode is sorted, I can zoom in and out of slides and I can see the attendees videos more easily without them being hidden

I have a question for you. You mentioned that you can alter a slide, that you have to alter it in the ppt itself, stop sharing, and then reshare. Is there no other way to do this? I have a ppt that is updated sometimes as we are speaking and I currently have to do what you said, and that is to stop sharing, and reshare to show the changes, which is cumbersome and creates friction during the brainstorming process. To your knowledge, through teams, is there any way to have the PPT update as the file itself is updated? I have it set to auto save too, which thought that may help but still no dice. Appreciate any advice and thanks for the great content.

Only if you open the file and share your screen/window. PowerPoint sharing, at this point, is just *presenting* content. It’s not a live editing experience.

I"m doing a webinar and it seems as though PowerPoint Live does not offer the Presenter Modes. Presenter Modes are only available when I'm sharing a screen or a window. Is anyone else having this issue?

What about hybrid meetings? I love the new PPT live but had to revert to old school screen share, because I was presenting on a projector and in Teams meeting. Alas no Team Room Device.

Have someone who’s in the meeting room join the meeting and project their laptop/device instead of you doing it.

This doesn't work well if you have animation and you want to record it.
