- US trainer Maj.Caleb Nimmo - one of the few US pilots certified to fly the MI-24 HIND - flies with Afghan pilots of the Afghan National Air Corps, filmed during 2010. The United States in conjunction with its Hungarian NATO allies is helping to create a ground support and air assault capability for the Afghan National Army. On this flight Nimmo conducts rocket attacks against ground targets

It's so weird seeing Americans teaching Afgans how to fly Russian helicopters that the Americans once helped shoot down in the Russian Afgan war.
Hungarian pilot... Almost ...
I believe that the HindD is Ex Soviet given to Afghani military from the Cold War Days.
One the few that didn't get shot down by American Stinger SAM's
back in the 1980's.
The Yank pilot must be test driving it.
Just a supposition.
This is Indian stretegy!
Anthony Plymale, there had never ever been Russian-Afghan war. State "elites" of USA created irregular army of Al-Qaeda, Taliban and other branches , supported by CIA with information and logistics. That is the so called international terrorism. Imagine that you infect your victim and then tell the victim that you are the doctor. And you take control of victim's resources, while you are endlessly healing the victim. The Soviet Army defeated US irregular army in Afghanistan, but there happened a treason in the USSR (Russia). Afghanistan degraded after withdrawal of russians.

It's certainly one of the most feared weapons platform - when fully armed - it's impressive as hell. Just imagine having the HIND pop up from behind a hill with it's awesome firepower. PLUS, a troop carrier.

The appearance and design of the Mi 24 helicopter does not leave anyone indifferent. It impresses with its brutality. The helicopter looks like a flying fantastic beast. The designer of this aircraft should be given a prize for the best appearance of a combat helicopter. I must say that this person was the first who started making helicopters in such a spectacular memorable style.
Mi-24 appeared in far 1969...
The first models looked kind of plain with a boxy looking cockpit. The bubble cockpit really changed the look for the better.
Why are the Afghanis speaking in Russian at times?
Bcoz this time all government people's belong to Russian.......then NATO's and USA try to runaway from Afghanistan....
Because the USSR supported the development of Afghanistan for ages, until treason in the USSR. They had been preparing disassembling of the USSR in 1953-1991 since the death of Stalin.
@@Tourwithzk What? did you use Google translate for this? Word salad.

Thanks for the video. I got to climb through on of these about 7 years ago at an aircraft salvage yard in Southern California. It was a pretty big deal to me. These were the scary monsters in the movie Red Dawn.
Going to the Dealership to pick one up next week!

This is a real beast of a helicopter! What a sinister looking machine, in my opinion the baddest looking attack helicopter!

A rare look inside the passenger compartment of the Mi-24/35. Haven't seen this in any other videos.

@@065Tim so that was the AO of operation Storm-333?
The Mi-24 has such an awesome sound on takeoff.....you can sense the immense power of those turbines.....turning one hell of a big rotor. I bet the Soviet pilots that first flew those things felt like they had moved up to a Ferrari or Lamborghini compared to the Mi-8. The cockpit is really comfortable from what I've read......and air conditioned! Everything a pilot needs is power assisted, and at his fingertips. Very leisure like flying to Russian standards. The US Army adversary pilots at Fort Polk love these things.
*The Mi-24 and Mi-8 have the same propellers and the same engines, and they make the same sound during takeoff!*
czcams.com/video/es4RyTbEoA0/video.html&ab_channel=DarthWelderChannel
Then you heard lies, it doesnt have air conditioning, it has a fan, the autopilot is very simple and barely does anything its also very heavy about 80 percent full load when it has full fuel, it cant carry a full weapons load with troops. Compared to modern us helicopters its pretty bad.
@@hansloyalitat9774 and why exactly are you comparing a Soviet heli from the '60s to modern US tech?
When this thing was introduced the US was flying Hueys, without even a fan, with 0 automation, no guided munitions, no armour, even less engine power (even pound for pound).
Not to mention that the Hind (Russian ones at least) have been upgraded over the years to include most if not all of the things you mentioned. Add to that the fact that even modern US helis dont really have an autopilot (unlike, say the Russian Ka-50 and Ka-52 which can essentially fly by themselves) and you really dont have a point to make.
@@deanboy2416 Because this guy is saying its air conditioned

Ми-24 - это шедевр! Вспоминаю Союз советских социалистических республик. Дворец Тадж-Бек с высоты выглядит особо величественно.
as a kid in the 80's these things were mythical. There wasnt a lot known about them because of the Cold War, we only saw pictures from Afghanistan and they looked SO mean and powerful. To boot they could carry soldiers in the back, we didnt have an attack helicopter like this. Movies like Rambo made them even more mythical, although real Mi-24's werent able to be used in those days. Its still my favorite helicopter ever made, its a brute.
Pilot american said : the very strong russian made..
Good job kamerad....!
It reminds me of the clone dropship in star wars 2
Phire Phire LAAT-i
I think they based it off of this
The LA-AT is based off the HIND helicopter. A lot of prequel ideas come modern day military vehicles and tactics. The original trilogy falls towards WW2 era.
The clone war was mostly based off of WWI and Vietnam and the galactic civil war was more based on WWII so it'd make sense for the LAAT to be based off of cold war era helicopters
