I’m no professional but every video I watch makes me want to fish! Let’s go!!!!
I used to fish Lake Natoma when I was younger and I even caught an 11 lb 4 oz largemouth at Willow Creek back in the mid 80s, at the time I think it was the lake record
You sir are one hell of a fisherman.. breaking down that lake is a pain.. the current is not always there - great catches... I miss living in Folsom I used to kayak all the time in Natoma..
Thanks buddy. I haven't forgotten about you. I will PM you my # so we can conference call w/Chris.
sounds like a plan - he and I are kayak and camping this weekend at Comanche..
sent you a pm via IG
The best part of being a pro? Forgetting how many days you've been fishing the same lake... Love that and thanks for day 1, that was familiar. Cheers!
you know your living the dream when you have lost count of how many days you fished that week and don’t know what day of the week it is as well 🤣 cheers 🍻
Yes I'm one of those that never caught anything out there. Awesome footage and thanks for the info.
hmongster84 keep grinding. Thanks and you’re welcome!
So that’s where all the big ones in Folsom went! They must’ve washed out the dam into Natoma lol. Cool video.
Haha. There are big ones in Folsom somewhere. Thanks..
Aaron- I just wanted to say good job! I have watched a lot of fishing videos, most of which are just "hey look at what I caught!" with specific information either omitted or intentionally concealed. Your videos are great, informative, honest, practical, professionally produced, and best of all no endless plugging of sponsors!. Subscribed!
If you are so inclined, I would love to see a video on targeting smallmouth in the area. Keep up the good work!
Thanks John! I watched a bunch of videos as well and wanted to be different. Fishing is fun and I want to share what I know with fellow anglers. Unfortunately I don't know how many videos I will be able to do this year. We have a couple of businesses we are trying to get up and running and they are taking a lot of our time. That being said I am going on a guys trip at the end of this month to Clear Lake and the cameras are coming with me…stay tuned..Thanks for watching, the kudos and subscribing.
Lake Natoma holds the CA state record for a rainbow trout: 27lbs caught using a lure on 10/02/2005.
Whoa!. That is a beast
Didnt even know boats were allowed on there
Thanks a bunch for breaking this lake down. I always have a tough time bass fishing here, but this video helped a bunch.
Your Welcome. Let me know if you get any good ones out there...
Awesome video, so informative and editing was on point as usual. Thanks for sticking with it even though that first bit was slow.
Thanks buddy. Looking forward to see how you guys did at Cammanche
Great break down. Went out there and found it tough but still a few.
Thanks Dave. It's not an easy lake to fish but at least you caught some and that equals a good day!
Your videos are top notch!! Very informative. 🤙🏼
Garrick Spencer thank you 😊
Hey Aaron great video on how to breakdown any body of water.
It also made my coffee taste a little better!
I hope you had a great FIESTA FRIDAY!!!
Thanks Ronnie!
Great video. I'm going to try launching my kayak at Willow Creek and catch a few. Fish and Wildlife planted bass from a delta tournament years ago.at Negro Bar.
Paul Hladik Awesome. I’m going to get back out there in the next few weeks
glad you made it free loved it i fish here
I live in the area too. I've had some decent success over at willow creek...Glen...I have heard of people catching double digits at Natoma! I haven't tried by boat there but after your video we might have to try it now!
I bet there are double digits in there for sure. I plan on getting back out there with some big swimbaits. Thanks for watching
Aaron Lesieur Outdoors ill go to natoma with you throwing big swimbaits! 🤣 I'm trying to get into the swimbait game.
Great video Glen! Very informative. I appreciate the work you put into this video. You should link up with Informative Fisherman. You guys really break it down for us aspiring anglers.
I never knew that section was trolling motor only. I had a small boat with a 2.5 hp motor that I been using there. I like fishing the lake during spring time. That's usually the best time they start to hit moving baits and top water. During the winter is super tough.
Yea. I can only remember seeing that one sign. I haven’t been out at all this year and need to get out there before fall for some top water action. I have never fished it in the winter but would like to get some swimbaits out there.
Didnt even known boats were allowed on there. Pretty cool. Most the time packed with kayaks and paddle boards
Great place to fish since it doesn’t get a lot of fishing pressure
I sight fish along the banks with nightcrawlers with moderate success sometimes lunker's as well as lots of bluegills! I've observed the bass and learned they are very spooky and can be tough to fool. In winter they are nowhere near the banks. Also caught a channel cat last summer!
Alex Pulsifer awesome info. I want to get back out there this year soon so I can try to catch some during the spring.
One of my PB lake
Awesome
Great video - content and production are both excellent! Thanks for posting this!
Thank you!
Thanks Mr. Willow Creek. :-)
haha!
Great video Aaron and some good fish like the format
Thanks !
Good stuff Aaron 👍🎣
Thanks Dwayne
i saw a huge school of 20 bass big and small at willow creek towards the main lake one of them was 10+
I know there are big ones in there. Going back out there in the spring
You make awesome videos
I live in your area and have been fishing lake notama
I live in the area and I have hard time fishing Lake Natoma hopefully the bite would be better for me this upcoming spring...
It will be way better in the spring. I can't wait to get out there during the spawn and put my eyes on some big girls
Killer info
Thanks !
I'd love to see a update on this lake. I've been fishing it consistently this year and I've been having some good luck
I have plans for an update for sure. Are you fishing from shore or on a boat?
Bixxel -Aaron Lesieur I've been fishing boat and shore i dont want to give up the spot publicly on here but I know a area that's filled with beds right now (seen some big ones too like 7,8 lbs). It's not even a matter of if I can catch them it's more like witch one do i wanna catch .
Bixxel -Aaron Lesieur as a matter of fact i was able to squeeze in some shore fishing today and caught 4 nice ones the biggest one being a 5/6pounder . I also stumbled across a cove filled with giant school of carp witch was a cool sight. I think they're bedding right now as well.
There is also a resident bald eagle living at the lake I've seen him several times either flying or in dead cottonwood tree. I fish near the bluffs towards nimbus dam
Alex Pulsifer true. I also ride mountain bikes and up in the bluff you can get a better look at the nest
Very nice job Aaron, thorough fishing on a tough lake. The google earth maps are really nice. In looking at Google earth on the Lower lake, north side I see some small ponds isolated from the main lake. I thought these ponds might be a little warmer than the lake and may have some more willing fish. Access walking from Sunset and Main Street. Got to get out of the house! I’ll let you know. I found your channel by googling lake Natoma Fishing. New subscriber now! Thanks!
Bill Ward thank for the kudos ! Definitely let me know what you find and how you do at those ponds 👍🏻
Aaron, Will do! "I'll be fly fishing and mainly just need to get out. A bass or two would be great but I'll be happy to get into some Bluegill as well. :)
Aaron, Got out and enjoyed exploring the area, unfortunately no signs of any fish. Got some nice pictures, beautiful area but very difficult to fly fish from the bank, lots of weeds and vegetation close to the bank out some distance. I saw a serious fisherman in a kayak and watched him work a bank very methodically for 30 minutes with no sign of any strikes or anything. He came from Lake Natoma as I walked all the way down to the bike trail. From there I could see the lake and there is direct access to paddle to that biggest pond where he and I were. I saw no other fisherman. A kayak or small boat of that kind is the only way you can effectively fish it. Oh well nice to get out. I have a youtube channel myself mostly focused on music I play with my band the Western Light and family things. I do an occasional Fly fishing Video and If you do a search for "Northern California Fly Fishing Blues" you will find an original song I wrote centered around fly fishing outings of mine and a group of friends of mine. Best Wishes, and stay safe!
Just found you on FB and sent you a Friend Request. You will be able to see the pictures I took today :)
Bill Ward I remember that area from when I filmed and fished. I also noted that there were no fish back there. Unless there are resident fish I don’t think they have any reason to travel that far off than main body.
Have you ever fished the area North across from the Aquatic Park where you paddle through a huge convert and it opens up? I've seen bass there as a kayaker, but never fished it. Might this Spring
Yes. Watch my paddle board videos out there. I have only seen one big one back there. And a lot of small ones.
Thank you
Great vid Aaron. What brand/model are those sunglasses?
Thanks Matt! Oakley racing jackets. Sadly they got stolen and I don't have them any more :(
It is a tough lake, I live at the Rollingwood bluffs and fished more than a few times. Caught a 3lber near submerged trees next to dam..otherwise 1lbers next to those shallow spawn beds. Many hours cruising the canoe.
Shouldn't the carp be removed from the lake?
Tough for sure! I haven’t been out there for months. I am due for a trip soon. Not sure about the carp 🤷🏻♂️
What spinning reel was used with the Dobyns FR703SF rod (dropshot setup) ?
That is the Lews Mach Speed reel. Looks sweet with the black and green
When I was about 9 or 10 I seen a dude jump off the Rainbow Bridge and there was a small aluminum fishing boat coming underneath the Dam Bridge and the dude landed in the back of that damn boat died right in front of me
Whoa. That is crazy!
I thought there were no power boats allowed on Lake Natoma.
Paul Hladik Power boats ok up to 5mph except by the aquatic center. Electric motors only
@@alesieur1971 ok. Thanks
By far the hardest lake I’ve fished.. always out there! @live2.fish is my user if wanna connect on instagram
I'm surprised they allow a bass boat on Lake Natoma. There is a 5MPH speed limit on the entire lake.
Lee Baker yes it’s 5mph and as long as you abide by that speed limit you can definitely have a bass boat on the lake 👍🏻
Fishing is real slow there but I know there are 20lb bass in there. I tried many finnesse techniques and caught few 10lbers they feed off rainbows.
It can be slow for sure. 10lbers!? whoa! I need to get out there and throw some swim baits.
@@alesieur1971 Those fish get spooked very easily seen them from shore with polorized lenses. What makes that lake impossible to fish is they keep draining it which makes a weird current especially from shore.
Day 3 you found my spot ...
Me and my son smoke them out there all the time.
I thought is was trolling motor only.
never mind
Amedeo Tira haha. Okay. Yea. Only trolling motor down by the aquatic center
Lol hahaha 😄 don't even want to visit that place
There are some big'ins in that lake
Small mouth on the walls slow jerk pause for 30-40 sec. Trout patten
CALI GOLD all times of the year?
No one likes boats on that lake
...!
You definitely don’t see a lot of them out there. But they are allowed! Although now I just go fish out there on my paddleboard
You definitely don’t see a lot of them out there. But they are allowed! Although now I just go fish out there on my paddleboard
The reason why you don't see many motorized boats on lake natomas is because the speed limit is 5 mph
@@Sasquatch541 thats pretty well known....still no one likes the boats, fairly common with paddlers
