    Real question… why would I ever want the barrel of the bat to be taller than the knob comjng through the zone? When you bunt isn’t that the case because that’s the bat angle you need to get the bunt on the ground? Bat angle creates launch angle not bat path. Just cause you can do something at a high level doesn’t mean you can teach at a high level

      "Staying on top of the ball" is only a cue to create a short/direct path to the ball to produce consistent solid contact and line-drives that fall for hits (statistically, line drives are the most productive). Bigger line drives become home runs. The bat is designed with a heavier barrel and thinner handle. As your two hands work together to bring the bat on plane, the barrel is going to naturally drop into the slot and level out with a slight uppercut; because you "finish high". There's videos on CZcams where Barry Bonds and Nomar Garciaparra explain this concept perfectly. If you dump the barrel early (like the "Teacherman" fraud suggests), you're not going to be on plane and will have a tendency to pop-up/flyout if you happen to make contact. A bunt is completely different than a swing. You have one hand on the handle, the other stabilizes the barrel and its meant to literally stay on top the of ball, to hit the ball into the ground for a specific purpose.

    Kevin Millar was the Roger Maris of Foul Ball Homeruns. If he had a tick better timing he would have been incredible. That said- he was a big reason why the Sox won in all he brought to the team

    Very funny...but, the first drill promotes a downward barrel path and in the second drill, Millar's bat path is ascending (pro) despite him badmouthing the pro bat path (@0:36-:43). These old school, "throw your hands at the ball" types (Sean Casey) just can't see reality. In the fast hands-drill Millar's instincts take over and what does he do in his swing? Elevates his hands above the ball and the lead arm/bat form nearly a straight line (as does every great hitter). Then, @2:13 gosh, his structure sure looks like his form back when he was downplaying 'launch angle'. This is like watching A-rod tell you how to hit... then you watch his swing in a game and there is no match. Don't go near that first drill. Work on being shaped like Millar @0:36. Now, that looks like the modern pro swing.

      He was downplaying launch angle for high pitches. And he’s right, when a pitch comes at the numbers, the correct approach is definitely a tomahawk

    Love that right after the drills the channel puts up its ad for 'select menswear provided by tommy hilfiger'. aka - They tried, but Kevin Millar -didn't- blow out the crotch on our pants!

    Those hitting drills are great I mean I like the tee drill and the soft toss drill but I didn't know that there's a another drill where you squat down and jump up and then hit the ball unless that practice drill is fake and they were just doing that for fun.

    • @huma474
      @huma474 Před 4 lety

      Its probably real, but it may have been a special drill for any player that was new to the team as a hazing drill

    • @jockoadams3377
      @jockoadams3377 Před 2 měsíci

      Jumping up and landing on your feet will force you to stay balanced in your legs. Swinging from a balanced lower half will correct a whole lot in your swing.

      The second drill is about responding and hitting things quickly - its a reaction time drill that also helps you with using your wrists more quickly while hitting the balls rapidly. The last one is a hazing drill - its what you make the new guy do to mess with him :-)

    U shouldn’t be trying to swing with ur hands. Did they learn nothing from josh Donaldson a few years ago?

    • @jockoadams3377
      @jockoadams3377 Před 2 měsíci

      Its not ideal.. but what if you need to fight off a ball foul to get see better pitch on two strikes. What if on a full count its a borderline off speed pitch you can't afford to take. Sometimes even a bad defensive swing with just your hands will result in a positive outcome.

      @@jockoadams3377 I agree. My thoughts on hitting have changed a lot in the last 5 years since I made that comment. That’s the beauty of baseball
