      This comment makes me sad. But we will try again until we succeed! Bosch systems have been cracked by several companies and when shimano steps gets big enough Emond marked batteries will be on the market. They are not electronics experts like bosch so i suspect it will be easier to crack then bosch.

    Has anyone ever tried pulling cells (and changing the series/parallel if needed) to make a lighter-weight / shorter-run battery?
    I tend to use my eBike as a "lunch ride enduro" machine - I give myself a slight boost up the mountain and then let gravity send my back down.
    I'd love to have an alternate sub-2lb STEPS battery, and I am not afraid to solder a board, but I don't want to spend 4 months fighting against, reprogramming, and debugging the entire battery management control.

    • @jcvjcvjcvjcv
      @jcvjcvjcvjcv Před rokem

      Why risk it if nobody has yet found a way to win against this Shimano BMS?
      Boost up the mountain implies higher power draw, so cutting down the capacity will increase wear, possible exceeding the cells discharge rate.
      Downhill the heavier battery is just a bonus.

    I have one here now that i am about to try to open, but is it really T9? Is it torx with a pin in the center?
    Hard to see in the hole.
    Feels like not even T10. Does not fit perfectly, and on one screw it does not fit at all.
    And looks like something in the middle.
    BTW, symptom om the battery:
    Bike do not recognize it.
    Charger flashes orange a few times then nothing.
    Battery level shows four lights.

    Hello,
    I am trying to do the same as you to try to recharge "manually" each section of cells on a BT-E6000. I am no expert but here is what I think, I opened the battery:
    There are 40 cells and 4 small wires going to the cells. Can I assume the following: 40 cells / 4 = 10 cells per wire = 3.6x10 = 36 v per line @ 2.9A per line / pack x 4 packs = 11.6Ah . The battery is rated 36v 11.6A so I think I may be correct. If I am correct, could I unsolder one side all 4 wires (could do both sides but I dont think it would matter), then use a lab power supply to charge to either 36v or 30v if I cannot find such power supply. After charging a little, I could reconnect the cables and see if my charges could charge.... Any special danger you may think? Alternatively, without unsoldering the wires, could I just apply 36v voltage to big connector on the right of the BMS to go directly to the cells? Thanks, Frederic
