Hi John, thanks for the video. What happens if an image is used on a SharePoint page and then after some days, the same image is removed from the image document library? Will this affect the already placed image on the page? And what will happen if a previous image is replaced with another image with same name to the image type Org Assets library?

We have a lot of branch office and they have templates that are special for just that branch... so is it possible to only distribute for one branch - not to the whole site?

Yes, you can create either folders or libraries where you can target the content to groups stored in the Active Directory and Exchange server, such as Departments, and apparently Microsoft 365 group (although I have not tested this).

@@JohnDayQA Can you explain this in more detail? Would we set up a new origin and only give access to specific groups? Or create a folders within an origin and give group specific access to those folders?

This solution is working great with templates in power point and excel desktop apps for everyone in our team. However, the same can't be said for word. The tab for our tenancy shows up for everyone, but for the majority of the team no content shows up. Yet for a couple of us the comtent shows up fine. Any suggestions for a solution?

So my problem is that I can't see the template in Word on the web, but in the desktop client - all is good. Any reasons for that?

    Hi.
You showed that the template was available in powerpoint online but not in word online or excel online.
Is it true that they only work in powerpoint online?
We do not get it to work in word / excel online.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.

Sorry I was trying to simplify the video, so I did not show all three online apps, but as I said at 6:50, if you launch to the dashboard of "any" of those online apps you will see the Officetemplates folder providing you have a template in there of that file type (If you do not have a PowerPoint template in there, you will not see the folder in PowerPoint, etc.).

If the share point lists are available to select users, will the templates only be available to those select users?

    • @JohnDayQA
      @JohnDayQA  Před 2 lety

The templates are part of the features changeable by site Owners, so only site owners will see and change the theme look and feel, but by specify specific users or groups of users as Visitors will give those only users access to create new documents from those templates.

How long does it take before the template-tab comes visible in Office apps?
Waited for 1 hour now, and nothing yet.

When you run this for the first time, it can take up to 24 hours, as mentioned in the video. However if you get nothing after that, make sure your PowerShell script is pointing to the correct URL. If not, it does not display an error.

Hi @@JohnDayQA Thanks for sharing your knowledge. after 24 hours of running the script. I can see the subfolders which were created for the different company units but not a single template is showing when checking from within word, Excel or PowerPoint .. tested putting the template files on the root folder and also within the subfolders .. still the same and this is testing within the office apps "not online version". permissions are checked but not sure if i still need to do anything from within the office app option itself ?

Turns out it was a compatibility issue, save as new templates did the job just fine .. thanks again.
