My late dad took me there in the train back in those days, he referred to it as a " one horse town." 😊
AMAZING: that playground horse with the 2 kids on it at 1:20 is the very same one that smacked me on the chin, cutting it open, as I walked past it as a 6-year-old back in 1963! My sister (9) & 2 uncles (15 & 13) were on it at the time!
Still come down to saltcoats every now and again from paisley love it especially the Crown bar
can remember the motor boats went there a lot growing up from paisley.
Had a fortnight holiday here in the early 70s. Bedknobs and Broomsticks at the cinema, amusement arcades, and one of the best fish suppers on a friday.

That's how I remember Saltcoats! We'd sometimes take the train in from Kilwinning but it was mainly the A1 bus! Have had some good memories of going there.
That certainly brings back memories. I saw many a film in the Regal and (not shown) the Las Scala, now Weathersoons. I also remember A1 buses which were one of the main operators in this area at the time. Unfortunately I don't remember the Swimming pool being anything other than what is is now though my Mum spoke of it when she was a girl. It's amazing to see these old films and, while a lot has changed, a lot is the same now. Thanks for sharing this fantastic to see :)
I remember going to the Regal cinema a few times back in the 1970's! I was just a wee bairn! I'm sure La Scala was pretty close to the Regal. There was the City Bakeries "Light bite" cafe not much further along the road, they had the best doughnuts!
It’s a shell of itself now. Such a shame
