- I finally gave in and got an Arcade 1 up. Mortal Kombat came out and I couldn’t help myself. Having the three classic MK games on one cabinet is hard to pass up. The original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are all represented here. Is it worth $300?

I've had mine for a month now, and absolutely love it. I was a big Mortal Kombat gamer in the early 90s. I used to ride my bike down to the local bowling alley and play Mortal Kombat 2 until I spend my whole week's allowance playing it! (Or until that one kid would come in and beat me and take the machine!) But my dream back then was to have this arcade machine in my house and now I do! Its awesome!! And all three versions are the arcade versions, and all the goodies are there. The hidden characters everything!

I'm 6 feet tall and the riser is perfect for me. Its taller than the original caninets button layout by a couple cm because the original was a little more slanted. The buttons just seem a little slower and the joysticks can come unscrewed a little bit sometimes. I remember big arcades from when i was a kid in restaraunts and other places but they eventually just died out. My dad worked for a lottery vending company and i remember when i would look in the back room the place was just a GRAVEYARD of old arcade games and it made me really sad that I was watching the end of this era. Im so glad its on its way back in.
Oh man, great memories for sure. I wish these were better quality, but the cost is so good that it's a great middle ground. The arcade graveyard is such a sad picture in my head. Im really happy retro gaming is on the rise. I just got the new Marvel Arcade and my video is gonna be out in an hour. Thanks for watching the channel.
You can get into the settings to change the volume and difficulty on all of them. After selecting which game you want to play, don't hit player one yet. On player two, hold down low punch, high kick and up on the joystick. On player one hit player one start then hold down run and block. UMK volume does not save on next power up but everything else does. O, I forgot. On each you have to win 10 in a row first which can easily be done by starting player two and just winning.

It’s worth it if you want it for nostalgic reasons. Which most middle aged folks buy it for that reason. I would recommend doing the RaspberryPi mod. Everything about A1U is CHEAP. Side art, controllers and upon modding it, the internals are made from cheap, I mean super cheap stuff.
I've been looking at Raspberry Pi mods for it. I might have to take the jump and do it. Have a great 4th

You aren't kidding about the people in Walmart. I got mine and it was the only copy of MK they had and I got stopped 3 times on my way to the checkout by people wanting to see it. Oh by the way, that square thing you feel in the joystick is a 4-way gate on the base of the control. Fighting games typically use 8-way octagonal gates as they are more responsive especially when you're trying to pull off moves like MK fatalities. 8-way gates are cheap and easy to change out, I already did mine.
I might be replacing that gate, I could tell right off the bat it didn't have the same maneuverability as the original. That's a great story about Wal Mart. It's pretty cool to see people having nostalgia while grabbing their groceries.

there are mods you can buy and install yourself you can get the lit up marquee and install it, you can actually get new 8 octagon sticks and mod the buttons to so they have more weight to it.
I wouldn't mind doing that.

I bought one and me and my son put it together. We put it on top of two crates next to each other against the wall and I love it. Brings back memories when this came out and we have tournaments.

The reason the buttons are hollow is because it's a fighting game and at least 85% of people button mash.

Ive thought about getting the street fighter one and modding a 3rd with the raspberry pi to get tons of other emulated stuff. Ive also questioned buying all of them and just throwing parties all the time lol

I love the loud music. When the first cabinet released here , it was the loudest in the arcade. 15 or 20 people around it. Gave me chills when the drums started. ;-)

I completely agree I love this cabinet, it's not perfect but for 300 bucks it's well worth it. Like you said put this in your living room and people will be on it all day/night.

I have Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat II. Waiting patiently for the black Pac-Man cocktail 🍸 cabinet with the 8 games. I’m surprised that Ms. Pac-Man and and all the Donkey Kong’s too! All of the games should have the LED Marquee! I’m going to put led’s inside myself and rewire the game myself!

I ended up replacing to octagonal gates and installing stiffer springs. I did not have the high pitch squeal issue. I think it is worth it.
A few upgrades definitely make a big difference. Glad you are loving it.
@@TelesplashGaming Also let me point out that a little dab of med thread lock on the sticks really make a difference in case you have extenders or your grip like to roll a little. I ended up making some modifications to my A1UP Marvel versus Cap with fully rounded with 4 lb springs and it really made the cabinet shine. No changes to the NBA JAM one yet!

I have a question: if you unlock the secrets characters in umk3 (classic sub zero, ermac and mileena) with the kombat codes, will be saved when you reset the game? Or you need to use the EJB menu with the block button with no other option?
You can, but you need to enter your name in the high score screen or else it resets. By saving a high score, it saves everything.

@@TelesplashGaming to be honest I love mk ...I hesitated at first with the first wave due to the issues with the fading of the control panel. But when mk came out, I waited on the phone for like 10 minutes at Walmart. they told me they had 2 I said what!! On my way lol and as I was walking out 2 ppl stopped and asked where was that cabinet because they didn't see it. I said they have 1 left it's in the back room not on the floor. They literally sprinted through the door lol then a week later I got street fighter and 3 days after that the final fight cabinet. I think I play them equally 😁 I'm gonna get pacman next for my girlfriend then I'm gonna wait for NBA Jam and TMNT.

I missed out on these when they originally went on sale. Just discovered them last night by searching UMK3 on a whim last night on youtube. Anyone have any idea if these are unavailable (at reasonable original price) due to Covid or if they're like, limited run things? I never looked into these machines before. Was a huge MK 1, 2 and 3 arcade gamer back in the day. Can still beat 2 and 3 in the arcade with one credit but would love to have one of these machines.
I think Wal Mart still has these, but I havent actually looked for them since I got my machine. It definitely scratches the nostalgia itch. I hope you can find one.

Unfortunately the arcade + riser is not available in Amazon (they are the only ones who sells this mk arcade in Spain) but I saw a online shop who sells a barstool of mortal kombat, so... is not so bad hahaha I can sit, maybe in the future I appreciate this xD

I am in less of luck, I live in Mexico City and I was ABLE to find 1 of these in the wallmart, was the last one in stock (lucky) BUT I found out that the RIser isn't sold anywhere here. So that sucks.

Loved this game but Street Fighter 2 was my game! I did however play on a cabinet when I was deployed to Korea on an Army base that was like a Neo Geo style set up. It had like 100 games to choose from in one cabinet and I wish I could find it again!
I bet there were a bunch of cool anime and gaming stores over there. I love Street Fighter as well and that cabinet has caught my eye a few times.

This is the only one I have at the moment. I changed the buttons to LED buttons and I got a light marquee... The next one I'm going to get is the Ninja Turtles.. I might get the Street Fighter as well just to mod the hell out of it.

@@TelesplashGaming Super easy dude and it looks great. I purchased it from "The Arcade Game Factory" he custom makes them and takes a while before he gets to your order. I waited about a month in a half but it was well worth it. Great product. I got the buttons and bat tops from "DIY Retro Arcade" great quality and you can choose whatever colors you want. It adds to the enjoyment of the system without completely changing it into something else.

My only gripe ( other than the height ) is why they put joysticks in line with top row of buttons rather than centre line thru top and bottom.. My OCD cant handle it...

Build the riser yourself or have someone do it, Arcade1Up is nicely priced, they are insane to charge what they do for the risers.
I understand, you put IP logos on the risers and someone has to pay for those licenses, but not worth the price.
And you can make it out of real wood, not press board for cheaper than the riser.
Nobody is that anal to say, "Hey! What the bloody hell is this, a home made riser?".
They are looking at the cab and game not the bottom, lol.
That's a great idea. It would be really inexpensive to build a custom riser. I might do that.

Telesplash Gaming the complaints that you are point up are real, I’m planning to build a machine and modify this machine with a computer and a different joysticks and buttons you are not the only one complaining on the buttons and joystick so I think you should replace it. But definitely it is a brutal machine. Awesome video.

Have you had any issues with the PCB board crashing after changing settings in the EJB menu?
I had a serious scare with UMK3...The sound worked and there was nothing on the screen. I reset it twice and all was well
That's pretty fancy and it looks nice. We want to make an emulator arcade at some point so seeing how this looks and sounds gives me some perspective.

With all the problems people had with those arcade 1up machine i would say NOPE.It turned me off and thank God.Its cheap its bullshit.

I think that was my biggest surprise. It might not hold up at an arcade, but for kids and household use, it's pretty solid.
this is a great video..i like the background MK music you have. Any troubles accessing the EJB menu? I heard a few people were having issues but mine is fine and beautiful.
It took me a few tries, but I ended up accessing it fine, but my screen went black and I could only hear sound. I got scared for a minute but when I restarted, it worked like normal. I was nervous for about 30 seconds though.

Mk is worth it because it has 3 different games. The sf2 is not. It’s basically sf2 with 3 variations. If sf has the best of sf2, sf3 and sf4, then it’s worth it.

I think I that they could sell out, but I know they will replace them and keep them in stock. This is probably the best Arcade1up cabinet and they will make sure to sell as many as possible. I think you'll be fine waiting until you are ready

I think there will be some sales on it, possibly fourth of July and definitely Christmas, but they have been interesting. Some of them have dropped to $200, but others like Street fighter are still going strong. I think it will stay $300 except for the big sales.

I got it too its great, but the AI in MK2 is a fucking cheater. You can try to play it as Player 2 I seem to get further. But I already beated Mk1 and UMK3.

And I found new love for MK1 Arcade, such a great game.

Hey Jan. Yes you can change volume for 2 and 3 as well as adjust the difficulty by going into the EJB menu. You can also unlock the hidden characters. Here is a video
