I just love how the tripod is even making loud sounds like the ones from War of the Worlds 2005, it is just making what I can only describe as tiny little screams and creaks

I had the idea of a found footage style WOTW movie years ago. It's the kind of story that really lends itself to that format, as it's always been about a person recording their survival through Alien invasion.
I hope to lean more into that with the next episodes, being more strictly found footage animation, etc. This one was pretty wordy, but I felt I needed to set up the world and context of the tapes, etc.

You *have* to think critically about biases and misinformation.”

I like the design of the tripod. The realistic eyes give it this uncanny look to it.
I'm honestly falling in love with WOTW analog horror, especially since I'm currently reading the book
Gotta get my hands on it. Been obsessed recently.
My Dad even played the whole of the Jeff Wayne album on a roadtrip as a kid, albeit being a bit dated and campy, the narration perfectly captures the unease of the survivors.

Considering HG Well's original description of the Martians and how he wrote their methods of invading the planet, it would make for an AWESOME Analog Horror series.

It was funny how pubenny tried to do the stereotypical American accent also did feel like a analog horror series
I had to rerecord so many lines because of how much I sucked at it lol, that's why the audio changes sometimes.
@pupbenny honestly that really worked for me as a layer of voice modulation that a shadowy "G-man" would use. Like not just just a different voice, but changing speech patterns in real time to make it harder to identify. I thought it was completely intentional.

I just wish the narrator's voice for the OWI parts stayed consistent, the fluctuation in accents really distracted me

I have seen multiple attempts to a creation of a WOTW Analog horror series but I think this might be the first to (hopefully) gain popularity
Tell me about it. I know because I made "WKBW War of the Worlds Analog Horror" over a year ago but it's buried under the CZcams algorithm due to the channel being new and small. So now I have the pleasure of reading comments here like "wow, can't believe no one thought to do this before" I really do hate the CZcams algorithm!!

@@YellowSuitEdits Yeah I try not to let it bug me, but it's hard! I'm conscious it probably comes over petty and like sour grapes but I just think it's a shame. I'm not saying I'm Steven Spielberg, and it's no Shawshank Redemption(!) but the people that have seem it have been generally very positive; it just can't surface past the bigger channels so then every "finally someone made it" feels like a kick in the lower regions! 😅 I'm sure mine isn't the only one as well, but they're likely buried in search results so don't come up. 😕

Ha! Weirdly it was actually coincidental that I set it in 1984, despite the very similar kind of story which was based on the 1988 WOTW series. Although, the first thing I did with this project was write a whole backstory of this world and there was a big aspect of it that was inspired by 1984. Pretty fortunate I set this in 1984, simply so the VHS style made sense. I'm thinking about leaning further into 1984 though, considering they're both in the public domain after all (in the UK and EU anyway). ;)

@@Belgianmapping1830 The water tower ideas is also a realy good one it shows the people not taking the monster seriesly until it dose any damage and the heat ray design is an interesting choice.
With the lighting it dosen't look like a weapon at all which is the point and I like it.

Fun facts: in 1913 france falaise there was another tripod water tower it was much scarier having long arms that can stretch out and has creepier eyes so can you make a video about the falaise water tower later
I actually did this play in sophomore year, It was really fun. I was apart of the tech crew but it was still fun
Wow! *really* creepy leg design and the “arm” as well. The legs have an almost insect-like quality. The number of joints/the angles they are bent at fall hard into the uncanny valley for me, as well as the sssllllooowww movement. It gave me the impression that while it is huge, powerful, and terrifying, it almost has a difficult time moving under its own weight. Almost as if it was made in a smaller planet where gravity is, say, 62% less than earth’s 👀
The only thing that threw me off was the googly eyes; they just looked a little bit silly lol
