15:18 something pretty awesome about the tech tree AMX-30 ones is the fact that they have a coaxial 20mm. Fir situations like this one it is completely possible to quickly break the barrel of the enemy and be safe to wait and take another shot.
I love that ERA on NATO tanks are made of paper even against HEAT (which is what they were made to stop) but the ERA on the TURMS tanks can even stop tier 3 APFSDS rounds like they are BBâs , it balances the game soooo well, also when I say love I mean infuriating and when I say balance I mean kills all the joy I try to cultivateâŠ.

To be fair the TURMS has heavy ERA that stuff IRL is even more efefctive than it is in game. The problem is a lot of the NATO ERA is older stuff either added on to deal with cold war RPG's in places like Iraq & Afghanistan, or it's actual cold war era fitments means to go up against stock T72's and BMP-2's. Anything more modern than that mostly post date what the ERA was designed for.
ou see it all the time, in general stuff faces other stuff that has weapons specifically design to defeat it's armour because having tanks be frontally immune to each other tends to produce complaints, so they avoid it fairly heavily.
It's the same reason most of the NERA values in the game are complete nonsense. If they where even vaguely realistic there'd be no point shooting at anything front on.
T72B3, T80U/BVM, T90A, BMP3 and 2's all do not so well as it shows! Kontakt-ERA is doing not so well as they tought! Now they field old T72A's with very old Kontakt-1 ERA and these fail total! The modern western Atgm's are nightmare for them all! Since they got AT4's and German Panzerfaust 3 to the front they also show highly effective

This thing looks like a cursed Phly thumbnail in game. It's like a model with all kibbles and bits hot-glued on to the core tank. Three bustle racks, crates, lockboxes, the ERA - the smoke grenade pods and the IRCM look like they go on an early '90s GI JOE battle jeep toy. It's a pretty small MBT with two full-sized MBTs worth of stuff on it.
But huzzah for Lucas.
Day 66: Take the Scimitar, the last Supermarine, out for a spin. It's not an A-10, but you've got quad 30mm with a combined rpm of 4,800 and a 20kg/s burst mass. Could be fun, no?

Hey Phlop, the F6F-5 was recently moved from 3.7 to 3.3! With 2 1000 lb bombs and 6 HVARs and decent speed and agility, it makes for a really fun CAS experience even at 4.0! I think itâd make for a fun video :) (day 3)

4:35 this happened to me the other day, a T-62 hit my Shot Kal's barrel with a HEATFS round and the copper jet magically teleported inside the turret
the last match, when you were flanking and that STA was slowly turning his turret towards you, use that 20mm of yours to destroy the gun barrel. it works quite well

Hello Phly, it's been 2 years since your last vickers video, the british mbts, a new vickers has been added at a recent update, the Vickers Mk.3. And it's a very nice tank overall, 8.0, full stab, laser rangefinder and heatfs, a good and very appreciated choice for the british that would make a good video! (Day 2).
I play my AMX totally different when theres a chopper. I tend to want them to fly close enough so i can swat them out of thr sky woth the 20mm coax

When you started enjoying it is how I feel about the Super AMX. Not the best tank but def one of the most fun. The etendard having a ballistic computer now also makes for a decent lineup IMO. Now if France could just get a competitive top tier jet...

Would very much recommend the 23mm 1942 il2 in any game mode. Itâs just 15 minutes of bullying 109 hotshots and confusing zeroes as to how you can out maneuver them. Great fun!!

The biggest issue is uptier-ing and tech compression at higher tiers... being 8.0 and getting a full uptier is a death sentence. and that happens ( to me at least ) 9/10 times

What Lucas didn't mention is the stupid number of smoke grenades and the grrreat 20mm coax (f u, enemy helo!). Around 9:30 Phly didn't need to wait for the reload on the main gun, could have just 20mmed the Object 120.

Did that first kill from the BMP ATGM actually go all the way down the gun tube or was that a proximity kill?
If you watch the kill animation again, it explodes at the top of the barrel and a single piece of shrapnel was what zipped down the barrel and killed his crew member _(loader, I presume? or does the gunner sit aft of the beach?)_

I'm sure the game doesn't treat barrels as a hollow tube (to save on physics calculations), so the engine was probably treating it something like it going through 0mm of hull. In other words, it was effortless, but "insulated", which is why I figure it maintained its heat.

The kill feed generated two different detonations of "shrapnel", with the first appearing from inside where the breach should be, that killed the turret crew, along with the actual hit location's own dispersal from the end of the gun barrel afterwards (which then went down the barrel and hit the gun breach).

The amx30B are quite nice but the lack of stabilisation is really annoying. Gun and mobility are good, the 20mm is a nice tool against light target. The APFSDS can pen almost everything from the front, i only got some bad surprises on 9.3 tank like T64B.
If only there were versions with stabilisers... like the AMX 30 CH29... or the AMX 30 C2... or the AMX 32 1979... or the AMX 32 02... or the AMX 30V ...or the AMX 30 VE...
