$0.02027 per mile. Very good! FYI my ICE Jeep V6 Wrangler averages 16.5/mpg multiplied by ~$3.60/Gal = Fuel cost of $2400.00 vs. $223.00 or 1076.23% !!! aka $0.21818 per mile! #Ouch
Bro bought a car from a company infamous for their unreliablility 💀
Still weighing the finances & 'want versus need' aspects of getting a Model 3.
Good to hear how things are going with the cars.
It also brightens the day to have your dog make an appearance.
Your videos are hugely underrated. Your editing work is top notch and always great content. Keep up the great work. I love your channel!
Good no-nonsense channel that sticks to content. Really liking your videos.
I agree that you have great content and very well done videos. Can I request you do a total cost of ownership over 5 years and compare it to a gas vehicle?
Well done - very informative and helpful. Thank-you!! Lotsa love to all from Toronto ♥♥♥
Im considering buying a used Tesla and this video was very helpful. Thank you for your detailed analysis
also cute dog 🙂
Great video. Thank you for the updates. Aloha.
Awesome video thank you 🔥🙌🏽🔥
Great video and well presented. Subbed :)
I have a 2022: 3P, YP and X plaid. I come from a family of professional racers, if you ever want to take them to firebird drag strip and do a video we’re happy to support the channel.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for the update on the M3s! And the MY, too.
Checking incentives for EVs is important as you remind us. Fed, state, county, city - and utility! We get a $0.015 credit per kWh from our utility for charging our EVs. Always enjoy your videos. 🙂
That’s great, thanks for sharing!
@@CallasEV dont forget to change the electric motor filters and oil no this isnt a joke look it up.
Nice video, just what i was looking for.
Wanted to know the 5+ year results
I can only repeat myself: you are very likeable!
It's a shame there aren't more outtakes. And not because I want to laugh at you, but i want laugh with you!
Unfortunately, I didn't quite understand what you meant at the end about the charging plugs. Now you don't need any adapters anymore, the Tesla plug is standard for you.
Wish you all the best from Switzerland.
Yes I should add more outtakes at the end 😀!
The NACS transition is just beginning over here and it doesn't look like CCS will be going away for a long time. One important thing that will affect owners with old Tesla cars like mine is that the public NACS standard uses the CCS protocol to communicate. So in the future to charge at public stations, I'll need to have the retrofit even though I'll be using a NACS connector.
Best part is seeing you car's name is Smaug!! 😀
🐉
Excellent!
How is the black paint after 5 years compared to the pearl white?
Currently thinking which color to pick for my new model 3
So good. Loving our 2022 Model, especially with fuel over $2 a litre here. It's nice to not be at the mercy of the oil cartels!
I’m paying $25/month in electric to drive my 2023 Model 3.
I'm at 130,400 miles on my Model 3 Long Range RWD (made in March of 2018). My 12v battery never failed, but I replaced it around 110,000 miles because the car was walking up more often to top it off. On my 5th set of tires, and got credit from Michelin's treadwear warranty on some of those towards new ones.
Did you pay for it or Tesla?
How far is a Tesla service center from where you live? Considering a Tesla but a service center is 90 miles away.
I recommend the Hankook ION summer or All Season. EV specific with foam liner. I have them on my model S. VERY quiet, smooth riding with more responsive turn in. They are very efficient. They are OEM on me Highland model 3
Cost?
289 per wheel. Americas tire. Total around 1500. $80 online rebate. Included warranty, rotation, repair/replace
Ugh CCS1, waste of money if you ask me. IDK why any Tesla user would bother, unless you don't have superchargers near you. Even then, simple level-2 charging is fine. But good informative video on the maintenance. My 2019 SR+ has had a few things repaired like the control arms squeak (under warranty) and a set of tires. I'll probably buy the 12v battery at 5 years, if not sooner.
Always great to see you, Lorena -and Calla! I can report that after 5.5 years and 74,454 miles, the total cost for my Model 3 is: $68,325.72. The only fuel costs were at Superchargers, as I charge at home from rooftop solar. The battery's capacity has dropped to ~94.35%. I've had the same recalls and repairs as you, but also had to pay to replace my PCS -a hefty expense! I will be spending more soon: 6-month insurance, new tires. I should say, however, that I intend to transition to a different EV and say "¡adiós!" to this Tesla. I wonder if you could guess what I'll be getting (you've reviewed one)…?
Does the $68K (presumably USD) include just depreciation, or full purchase price?
@@tlf361 Total spent: to buy the car at full purchase price (minus tax incentive and trade-in), plus repairs and maintenance, insurance, registrations, supercharging and… lots of accessories.
@@Yanquetino Oh that's more reassuring... Can I ask, how much have you spent on repairs and maintenance alone (within or outside of warranty)? I'm thinking about purchasing a late-2018 model for $30K, but am worried about pricey repairs and am trying to get as much anecdotal info as possible.
@@tlf361 Hmmm. A 2nd set of tires $1,406.84 (gotta get a 3rd set soon); PCS repair $1,604.56; 2nd 12V battery $118.37; wiper blades $67.30. I've actually spent much more for accessories (floor mats, doggy seat, PPF protection, windshield shade, cabin filters, cargo mats, trailer hitch and wiring, cleaning supplies, adapters, etc.). Hope this helps.
@@Yanquetino It does, thanks so much!!
Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience. 7 cents per kW that is really cheap. Is it for real in Arizona? In my small European country I pay 42 eurocents (46 us cents) per kW 😢
Can you add Kilometres on screen?
In California that is about a month of charging costs
How much the registration yearly you pay.
Kinda interesting how the 12V battery failed after the warranty hehe
What about the cost of blinker fluid? 😂
2013 chevy volt and my insurance is liability only for 18$/month lol. i think I am an outlier. i ping pong between progressive and geico every year or two. get the burkshire hathaway class b share 9.7% discount by calling in after I signup. then progressive will give me a rate match once geico raises my rate after 2 yrs. its a game. pay for the insurance with the BOA custom cash 3-5.25% cash back credit card. in my area fast charging is more expensive than gas, and home electricity is ~$0.11/kw, and it gets pretty cold in the winter so the volt made way too much sense at ~7k$ used (90k miles). still gets 40 miles of range since the engine protects the battery from the cold, software doesnt let it discharge further than 30%, and no one has ever fast charged it since that didnt exist back then
Aren't there lithium ion 12v batteries now that are more expensive but don't need replacing?
Great simple content!
My 2020 Model Y has a lead acid battery but my wife's 2022 Model Y has the new Lithium battery.
I also was under the impression that the lithium battery didn't need replacement but a Tesla Tech told me that they also go bad. They are just less weight and smaller.
You can get aftermarket lithium batteries to replace the lead acid battery but those also go bad given time.
All new Tesla cars have the lithium 16v battery installed on them today. Unfortunately due to the higher voltage, these batteries can't be retrofitted into the older cars. There are 3rd party lithium 12v batteries on the market, but they all look pretty sketchy in my opinion. Most of them tell you to expect that the car will give you warnings about 12v system after it's installed - not cool.
Yes, mine has the lithium 12v battery. You can also upgrade to a lithium battery for $479. Whether that makes sense or not depends on how long you think you're going go have the vehicle.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Is your insurance tesla?
Jeez $852 just for two tyres !!! What are they made of ?? Is it Gold 😊
FYI those are for the OEM Michelin tires installed and with road hazard warranty. You don't have to use those and can use good tires that cost about $200 per tire.
They have noise damping foam 😂
I wonder how you managed to get such cheap insurance?
I pay $826/year for my 2020 Model Y and $1,279/year for my wife's 2022 Model Y. Full coverage with Plymouth Rock in Connecticut.
Too many variables like Lorraine mentioned, you can't compare directly. I pay about $400 every 6 months for my Model 3 with full coverage and pretty high coverage limits and add-ons.
850$ por dos neumáticos!!???? 😮😮😮😮 Madre mía, y me quejaba yo de los 300€ que me costaron a mí en España 🙆🫣🥹
That is crazily low for maintenance over the course of that many miles
My friend pays 600+/month for insurance for his model y.
I pay $ 800 (model y ) a year full coverage cheaper then the Ford Escape

2018 Model 3 (5 years later)
There are a few things wrong with your battery degradation test.
Did u spend 980 dollars in one year for service?. Thats a LOT
I use to spend that on gas a month 😅
Almost 200k miles model S. Nominal degradation. Original battery and drivetrain, brakes (including pads!) 280 max range/315 new
Thanks for sharing!
There are many good ways to test battery degradation, but looking at the dashboard guess-ometer is not one of them.
Dang I'm getting ripped off
56,000 miles in four years that’s 14,000 miles a year that means this lady goes to work and comes back sorry but most people are putting 25 a year. Let’s see how the car does after 100,000 miles my 2011 gas car has about 128,000 miles still running had to do a couple repairs but I’m still going let’s see how this test will be holding up after it has 120,000 miles.
Thanks for your feedback. One of the other cars in this video is above 125,000 miles and has their maintenence reported. The average driver in the US drives roughly 14,000 miles so my car is actually a pretty good example of wear over time.
lol you come off as so rude and no the average person does that drive that much. I work from home and do 5000 miles a year so 14,000 for someone who drives more often sounds like the average amount for other drivers.
A quick google search would’ve shown you that 15,000 miles is the average miles driven in a year
You hope you won't have to replace the battery pack lols
900$ a year 😮
That's only if you buy expensive tires every year. This was my first time purchasing them in my 4 years of ownership with the car. All other costs have been low.
Tesla 👎👎. Yourself 👍👍😂
$790 before tax, for only two tires? OMG! You said you spent $219 for charging, yet the graphic showed $223, so which is it? And Tesla is actually pronounced "Tes-La", not "Tez-La". Elon pronounces is incorrectly. The original founders pronounced it with an "S" and Elon is not an original founder.
"Elon pronounces it incorrectly"
He owns the company, he can pronounce it however the hell he wants. The founders no longer own it. Cry harder.
for me I get 2 tires for 260 and 4 tires for 520 oem tires are way overpriced your paying for the logo that's goes to everything in life you buy that's not good for poeple who fall for it and don't know that's what the business and the government want you to buy brand names besides that it's all the same thing
Oh my goodness I cannot listen to a woman talking about the car any car. Because they always get ripped off from service centers. I know because I work in one 2:25
