QOTD: What is the worst side mission in Borderlands 2?
Brains from bl1 or the candy mission in bl2
The Lost Treasure. Very RNG heavy, takes way too long to complete and the end reward is pure garbage. Truly one of the side missions of all time.
Any mission that is timed.
Any circle of slaughter I find them long, boring and over all not whort it
The Bane, the gun does good damage but having to turn off all system sound, and being super slow is not a good deal
I think Claptrap's Secret Stash was pretty rough. Pilfering the lost staff, defeating Ug-Thak and the Destroyer of Worlds was fine but the 139,377 brown rocks sucked to collect. The dancing at the end was not worth it. :(
You need higher standards
the rocks arent that bad, you can do some tricks to dupe them once you find 4. i always struggled most with the lost staff; the way it spawns randomly is so fucking annoying
Don't wanna go for easy picks like Grandma Flexington's Story or Tier 3 Battle: Death Race, so I'm going with Medical Mystery: X-Com-municate for worst side mission.
The whole purpose of this quest was to introduce e-tech weapons to make them look cool, but ends up revealing that they eat through ammo and underperform compared to normal purples when tasking you to kill 25 bandits with a e-tech bandit assault rifle with no element.
It gets worse the further playthrough you're on, especially on UVHM
That mission is EASILY the worst. It forces you to use such a useless gun. Too much ammo consumption, no damage and it only works on bandits specifically
This is the best answer here, too bad it most likely won't be picked cause it's too long and nuanced
Edit: Glad to be wrong on this, as it did get picked. Can't help but feel a little bit redeemed by the fact that like the first quarter of the comment was read and the actual nuanced bit wasn't just summarised, but entirely glossed over lol
I know it was put in as a joke, but Talking to Grandma Torgue (both normal and raid difficulty) are the worst because they were DESIGNED to waste your time.
Such an evil mission
Real
It even tests you to make sure you we’re paying attention too so you cant just sit there and not do anything. Unless you memorized the answers obviously
Unpopular opinion but I actually liked listening to grandma torgue
grandma Torgue is overrated IMO, you can easily take a break and look for the answers online when you come back.
There are quite a lot of bad side quests in BL2, so I'll list a few examples:
-Lost Treasure, because you have to wander around Caustic Caverns and pull a bunch of levers only to get a gun that's not worth the hassle;
-the three missions where you have to deliver the mail before time runs out;
-Demon Hunter, because Dukino's Mom soaks up bullets like crazy and will wreck you if you're unprepared;
-Capture the Flags, because you have to defend not one, not two, but three generators from constant gunfire only to destroy them after the flags are raised, and you have to do it all in the Sawtooth Cauldron;
-any side quest that takes place in The Fridge, because I hate the Rats with a passion.
"Demon Hunter" and "you're not prepared" sounds like Illidan from World of Warcraft.
The mission "The Lost Treasure." Not only do you have to go around the entire map of caustic cavers but there is no waypoint. And on top of all of that you get a pretty bad weapon at the end of it.
Oh, that mission is so awful.
Isn't that the one where you get the dahlminator? I love that thing on Krieg; try it sometime with bloodbath.
@@AsherCaldwell really? Anyway the quest itself is still awful and the gun ain't the best outside of BB
QOTD: Capture the flag, tedious and very unmemorable... also sawtooth cauldron
Egg on your face. There’s so many eggs in such a big location
Many people share that opinion
no idea why people are saying the lost treasure so much when this is the same thing with no hints and like 5x the things you need to get in a much larger area
fuck this mission honestly. by far the worst one in the game, with the i like my monsters rare quest in second
I was going to say the rare enemy side quest, but this one is it for sure. Hammerlock DLC was easily the least good of the four DLCs.
At least the dialogue is funny
The worst mission in BL2 is the Medical Mystery quest that forces you to use a terrible, awful E-Tech gun to get a fairly high number of kills.
That you have to reload the map to get all the kills ..
@@Timochat_just move 10 meters out of cave and you get another bandits lol
@@MaiorCJ gives me a second chance at the infinity
@@Timochat_ you can't spawn doctor again untill you complete mission, he gonna be lying dead and you have weapon sticking to eq untill end
The tiny Tina where he had to collect crumpets. I literally was sitting there for an hour trying to collect one. Much love
Genuine question: how? And which one?
Easily for me, The Lost Treasure. Going through it the first time is fun but it is NOT worth the 1 valuable space in your inventory for the Dahlminator
Lengthy mission for poo item
that mission was so confusing i had to look up a guide for it as a 12 year old kid
QOTD: I'm not going to give the same answer as everyone else saying "grandma Torgue", so I'm going to say pushing the minecart mission, Loosing all of your speed because of wormhole trashers is one of the most frustrating things in the game, going through the varkid cave is annoying as they keep pushing, not to mention that it goes on FOR EVEEER, at least it gives some interesting lore.
"The Beard Makes The Man" is easily the worst, because if you complete it, you lose the Grog Nozzle.
Definitely the "Egg on your face" from Hammerlock DLC, collecting the *23* eggs around the map is such a pain
QOTD: Statuecide.
Its just so boring, and it takes so long, and nothing actually happens. Theres just..... its just waiting around and killing things hoping they dont kill the constructor because you have no way to really reasonably keep it healthy.
First day as a member and I already love it, keep up the good work joltz
Thanks for the support
On the topic of pathfinding, you should've seen how well enemies find their way to you in friggin' Doom 3, and that game came out in 2004! Sure, they might get a little stuck in the geometry, given how chunky most of them are, but if there is a split path, they will actively try to flank and surround you. The original campaign sadly rarely gets to show it off, but skilled custom map makers often make use of it.
realistically, the bane, but jokes, grandma flexington
Just wanted to say I love the thumbnail of the video, looks awesome! Caught my attention right away
I remember doing a revolver run with Mordecai a while back for the heck of it, it's definitely a lot of fun
Great video dude!
I've always loved the atmosphere of the first game
love the vids keep up the good work
You know I'll try
i love the bl1 playthroughs!
I just realized that the track playing in the background for at least the intro is in the same time with Megalovania (and has a similar feel, but also very different. Good job (I'm assuming Joltz) on making that)
I just realised today, that joltz background music sounds like a remixed megalovamia, it might be because ive been fighting sans for 3 days straight but i swear the beat the sound, it all links up
The mission with the Shotgun 1340. My older brother bought BL2 on release and me and him backtracked our way through Bloodshot and found a talking shotgun, we were ecstatic.
The treasure hunt mission that you get at sawtooth, me and my brother did it once, we never want to touch that mission again
Borderlands 1 has an aura that the others don't have. I don't know what it is but it's special
QOTD: I was working on my Loot Randomizer Zer0, I got to Neither Rain Nor Sleet Nor Skags, my most hated mission. I was considering skipping it, but decided to do it and I'm glad I did, cause the mission reward was the Grog, and a perfect roll at that.
Watching Joltz play this in 3rd person made me realize that id very much like to see Borderlands 4 have a 3rd person option on release.
that door that was open randomly at 2:53 is the Jaynis Kobb spawn door if i remember correctly, he kicks it open then walks out
Honestly I like the destroyers loot, it makes you go find the legendaries instead of just giving you them
the bane. so much many fetch quests in a row to get something you shoot once and never use again
Tiny Tina's magical arena is by far my most personal hated mission. The number of times I've reset it, over and over, trying to get a perfect ogre is upsetting.
have to say, the last side mission u get once completing the main quest. it's hard for new players and normal players if they don't know the right build, weapons, etc.
Plus even if they get up the lvl it prefers, Terry can sometime switch to fire out of nowhere even when low health making it difficult to kill him
I think it was called What's in a Name or something like that. The one where hammerlock tries to rename bullymongs, he should let us choose and that has stuck with me for years
just finished my first playthrough on bl2 interesting to see how different bl1 is to bl2 and bl3
Worst side mission is definitely Grandma Torgue: Raid edition. Hardest raid boss in all of Borderlands 2
One time when I was playing bl1 with few friends, we just finished fighting miniac and we were looting the area, and we found a chest and a dumpster (the chest was meh) but the dumpster gave us a masher equalizer, 101x7, i cant remember when it dropped but it carried me through the mid game
not checking the hybrid is soul crushing
For me it's the capture the flag mission in the sawtooth area, not only do you have to navigate around a sometimes confusing map but then standing there defending a paper generator that gets taken out after 1 bullet is very frustrating for me.
That mission for jack in the eridium blight where he pays you to die😂
The organ collecting mission for Zed. I've always hated that one
I'm gonna go with any of the timed missions, because I'm terrible with timed missions, and the raid boss missions.
QOTD: Walking the Dog in torque DLC was one of the most painful on my last playthrough, the swarm of bikes chunking the skag + the tedium of running in a circle is a hard pass
Gotta make these way longer man
Joltz should go pro with that 3rd person aim 😂😂🎯🎯
QOTD: The bane lol a long mission for the worst reward.
Pestilent Defiler was always my favourite pistol in BL1
The worst side mission is when you have to tell everyone that Roland has died. I remember my first playthrough me and my friend were so sad going through the mission
I dont know what it is but the amount of times i got confused on the area waypoint for the lt davies story mission is crazy liek every time i kill every bandit out of pure confusion onyl to realise and forget that its optional;
I can’t remember the name but the hammerlock dlc quest that you have to hunt down the rare variants of the various creatures.
QOTD: Has to be claptrap’s birthday, it’s just too sad and you have to listen to claptrap talk for far too long
I have to say either Grandma Torgue or the Mail mission over in three horns valley, both are just tedious for not even that good of items
QOTD: maybe the firehawk mission to take fleshstick to captain flynts ship, as if going through it wasnt bad enough once or if you wanna grind thunderball fist
Would love to see a Scopeless Sniper run in any of the Borderland games, could be some fun. The Elephant Guns from Borderlands 1/2 or The Hunt(ed/er/ress) from Borderlands 3.
Sad to say, but I think if he did it, it would be the elephant gun, cause I don’t think he’ll ever play 3 again 😕
Any of the timed missions. It was so annoying failing a mission its not normally possible to fail
Honesty the worst quests for me were either "Walking The Dog" Torgue DLC or Arms Dealing Base game. The 2 quests I had the most retries besides the raid bosses.
I'd say the worst mission is Claptraps birthday bash. It literally paused the timer if you don't do what he asks you to do.
Might be Medical Mystery for me. It's not too bad in later playthroughs when you have other E-techs to use, but in Normal Mode with probably not that many assault rifle ammo SDU's up your belt, that mission is a pain because the quest weapon chews through your ammo reserve in like a minute flat, doesn't deal that much damage and is so horribly inaccurate that it can sometimes feel like the shots are deliberately avoiding targets. Truth be told, I kinda wish it gave you a Vladof or Dahl instead of a Bandit AR to use.
Also, all ammo issues aside, there's not even enough bandits on the map to do the quest in one go, so you have to reload it.
I like my monsters rare. I had every achievement on BL2 apart from Hammerlock Side Missons and that took soooo long to do
For me personally it has to be "I Like My Monsters Rare" From Hammerlock DLC, very RNG heavy, takes ages, many save/quits and not on just one map, it's all over the DLC.
Tbh I hated collecting guns on the presequel. Doing this challenge, on console, without just buying them all from vendors, insane time in that mission alone.
For me it’s Egg on Your Face. Searching all of Hunter’s Grotto to find 23 drifter eggs only to fight a mini boss who drops a worse version of the Buffalo.
The Lost Treasure
It requires two steps, the first of which is mindless mobbing that requires a reset if the item clips through the map or drops somewhere inaccessible, and the second requires following vaguely worded clues ("warehouse by the waterfront"? sure, there's only 3 different buildings that meet that description). And what do you get from this "late game" area quest? A "auto aiming" (homing) e-tech spiker. A weapon that is only good for newer / first play through players, yet for some reason is hidden behind a hard to find side quest and then back tracking to an earlier and entirely optional side area that isn't even interesting at this point since the player is likely overleveled.
It also doesn't help that the homing has anti-synergy with Zero's Vel0city skill, a fairly common feature of his pistol builds.
btw dialogue skips don't have to be the current mission, you can skip dialogue with any echo. angel is just higher priority so you need to skip angel dialogue with any angel dialogue
The worst quest imo was arms dealing when I tried doing a 100% run it was the only mission I had left as I kept failing right when I got back to overlook
Probably the only package delivery mision that's actually loseable. Time is tight.
QOTD: Gotta be Medical Mystery: X-Com-municate. Nothing fun to a mission that requires you to use a gun that can barely kill anything.
Is that bloody tears for music at about 850? Nice
Egg on Your Face for sure. I genuinely dont think I've ever beaten that quest because it requires you to scour a gigantic area while enduring one of the most annoying npcs in the game (in my opinion).
worst mission in bl2 is definitely doc mercy's e-tech gun mission. that thing just eats through bullets and never does enough damage.
I always end up having to loot ammo multiple times between killing spree's
Id say base game probably capture the flags and dlc the egg one from hammerlocke dlc
Hyperion Slaughter. I've lost on the final wave of the final round many times.
100% has to be the egg mission in hammerlocks dlc, without a guide or prior knowledge there is just so much space that needs to be checked
QOTD: Magic Circle of Slaughter, for people in op 10 it’s a huge pain with skeleton mages and getting there as well, too difficult imo
Qotd the one u get in saw tooth that takes you to caustic caverns that gives you an etech pistol reward
Got a near perfect masher unforgiven the other day
QOTD: has to for sure go to eggs on your face. That mission was HELL i only did lt for the achievement took me a very long time since i ddint know what to do.
i forgot the name but when marcus sends you to caustic cavers to fight blue
Arms Dealing! Has always stuck out to me as my least favorite. I used to fail it so many times back in the day..
Any of the timed delivery missions. They make me wanna throw my Xbox out the window lol
claptrap's birthday bash when i first playd it my pc broke.
The one where you have to kill a bunch of enemies with an e-tech rifle. The damage sucks even in normal mode, and in OP levels I suffer as a Maya main cause Cloud kill ends up killing the enemies way more often than the rifle does, making the mission take even longer. But when using that crappy weapon you need the cloud kill damage in OP levels lmao
QOTD: the worst side mission is hyperion contract #873 ( the morning star mission) you need to find 100 bandit that already consume alot time and at the end you got snipper rifle that talk very rude and not good
Walking the dog from Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC. The Boom Puppy will sooner kill you than who you aim for. A difficult quest and a lousy assault rifle makes it the worst side quest
Capture the Flags in Sawtooth Cauldron by a wide margin.
Medical Mystery: X-Communicate. "Go kill 25 bandits with this woefully inefficient E-tech AR. But we'll only spawn 22 of them, so you have to run to the Steam & Power entrance to kill the last three. Just to waste your time."
4:55 idk you could farm "the Leviathan" in bl1 🤣 well close enogh. 👍🏻
tbf, the launcher he drops is called Leviathan, which was probably the confusion.
Arms dealers always gave me trouble for some reason
The worst side mission is the scooter one in the commander Lilith dlc not because it’s bad but because it’s soo good it makes me miss scooter even more
QOTD: This is a hard one! but I'd have to say the WORST of them all would be "I Like My Monster's Rare" mission from Hammerlock DLC, every single time I do the mission it feels unrewarding for a mission that can take upwards to multiple hours if you're unlucky on spawns
QOTD my first gun (first mission in the game) cause you automatically start with an ar smg and sniper 😂😭
im very new to these games and playing bl2 for the first time, nice to see everyone’s hating the same missions i am 😂 means i dont suck
QOTD Personally, those times delivery/pickup missions have always stressed me out, and I never seem to be able to get them done on the first try.
The one in which you have to kill master gee it's simple if you wanna exploit the door glitch but realistically the fight is too tedious
most of the big game hunt side quests are such a pain, definitely the worst part of getting all achievements
QOTD: The KYS one! Like bro, you can't be putting that in people's mind!
QOTD: the multiple timed delivery missions
My least favorite will always be arms race, kid me could never beat it and it was the one mission i needed to do for all vanilla side missions.
Hands down worst mission is the rare game hunt in Hammerlock DLC because it can take forever to find that one last creature you need
That is one of the worst
finally, a good answer that isn't "objectively bad but not the worst", or "not actually the game/quest being bad, just a personal experience which makes me not like it". funnily, the other comment that had a good answer said this dlc too. egg on your face
@athrowawayperson9990 egg on your face has some preset locations iirc. The rare game hunt is just luck
@@jinga9862 you do remember correctly.
