#PDICheck #Nintendo3DS #eShop #3DS - Hry
You know that one doctor will accidentally buy a 2ds
They no longer feature any 3DS systems on the 3DS homepage. Only the 2DS and New 2DS XL. Things may look dark for this app if they stop selling the 3DS.
You can see the circle getting bigger tho
@@Valetravelgames yeah but youre at a bigger disadvantage
@@prosuperstar2617 People will have to buy used 3DS systems instead. The New 3DS XL is still superior and faster than the New 2DS XL. I don't know why Nintendo is hyping up that over the 3DS line.
@@JimmyFantage The New 2DS XL is literally just the New 3DS XL without the "3D", it's exactly the SAME hardware, with a different casing. Since it is cheaper for Nintendo to manufacture the 2DS XL vs the 3DS's special screen (which is basically 2 screens in one that adjusts the view manually). New 2DS XL = cheaper 3DS XL, same performance, same resolution, same compatibility etc.
100 usd is literally nothing for a medical / business tool.
Yeah and you get a 3ds lol

It's a win for everyone
That and the 3ds is like cheap now, especially pre owned now
@@scoutdy6547 just imagine buying an app like this for more than the price of the 3DS itself
Its not. But there is also no justifiable reason for it to be that high either. Believe me there are various softwares made in japan that teams of people had to work 20+ hour days to make that don't cost that much. By the looks of it, its fairly cheaply made. Most of the money to make the game likely went toward licensing with Nintendo and a 3ds dev kit.
Ultimately, something is worth what people will pay for it i guess... even if it is a cheaply made piece of shit app.
This is going to be the rarest 3ds game, once the eshop dies
.cia files are currently nutting
eshop just dies for Europe.
@@aksiyonbizde3016 It's only because of an EU regulation that the credit card portion is going away for Europe. Nothing is said about eShop prepaid cards going away anyway, just credit and debit cards. As far as I know, the 3DS and Wii U eShop isn't going away until Nintendo decides it's time.
That’s not good.

PDI: Pretty Dang Interesting
I figured I should pin Dr. Robert Arnold's response to this video, since he commented, but on my channel trailer instead. Thank you!
"Thanks for your careful review of PDI Check; We believe that video games can be bad, or good for kids- depending on content. PDI Check currently evaluates vision, but we are also developing games to make treatment of AMBLYOPIA easier and more fun for kids."
Oh he replied! Wow, that's honestly really cool!
Akfamilyhome neat!
Oh man, They just put it on sale for 5 bucks now :D
I MISSED IT!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!
regular people: ophthalmologist

Ah yes, PDI Check is such a great game to play with friends
"Remember when parents were paranoid that the 3DS would destroy vision like the Virtual Boy did?"
Whats funny is that the Virtual Boy would of gotten an eye training game if it didn't fail so hard.
I think it is worth it.
A. It is made by 2 eye doctors. Which is worth something. You said any old programmer can make it. And while it isn't technically impressive. A programmer would at least need to consult with eye doctors to make sure that he is doing things right and not making subtle mistakes
B. It spits out accurate data. Which usually has to be received through cumbersome measurements.
C. Usually thing that isn't intended for a mass market is more expensive. Especially because it isn't cheap to get a 3DS dev-kit and E-Shop license. So the few customers who buy it pay more.
Edit: Also, You can buy 1 copy and use it all over a clinic. So even though it is $300 for 1, it is $2100 for 10. $300 worth of equipment for 1 room would still be $3000 for 10 rooms.
"What can you buy with 100US$?"
An engagement ring in -a team-based first-person shooter- a war-themed hat simulator.
I agree with your conclusion, although I think the judgment about the price should be left to doctors =)

Stay safe in Hong Kong man, praying for your rights.

Amen to that
Why, what's going on over there?
Pixelcitizen tl;dr mainland China is pushing for Hong Kong to make it legal for the mainland to extradite people who are critical against the government. Naturally the majority of Hong Kong citizens don’t like this, and are thus protesting. The pro-China police is being just *a tad* brutally suppressive towards these protesters.

If that's US dollars, then I hate to know what this peculiar app costs in Canadian Money...
Well seeing how an 80 dollar 2ds is 109 in canada plus the two taxes (gst and hst) giving thats a 120 dollar value..

Sounds like it's expensive simply because that's how medical stuff is in the US, rather than having anything to do with any actual costs.
What about the 500 gold coins gained from it?
Gold coins take more to gain
you'd get wayy more gold points if on swich im sure. maybe?
For whatever reason, PDI check is on sale right now until April 30 for $4.99. 95% off!

Nice Evangelion reference
Episodes 25 and 26 were great
I just stumbled upon your channel last night and I love it already! You deserve to be as popular as creators like Scott the woz! Keep making these great videos :)!
Oh so actual doctor's made this thing. Thought it was another lo-quality shovelware title from some backwards game company
The amount of people in this footage who touch the top screen instead of the touchscreen kind of annoys me. ^^'
The program should've probably had a disclaimer to touch the bottom screen to answer.
I love how in every clip of people using it they are touching the top screen while someone tries to correct them.
The Wii Fit Music just adds to it.
You can get it at 5$ as of now 😉
It's on sale until 30th April 2020
God damn evangelion congratulations reference
5:09 made me crack a smile tbh hope to see your channel blow up
This is a really good vid. Great work ak. :)
Phew tought I was the only person who knew about this weird (and expensive) app
Glad to see someone else talking about it
This was interesting. Glad you made this video.
This was really cool! Today I learned things after all!
Hey, that boot sound is normally used internally at Nintendo for dev kit 3DS systems!
It might be $100 but hey at least you get $5 Switch cash worth of gold coins
I have no idea why this was in my recommended vids but this was fascinating and educational
the NGE theme playing at the congratulations moment was great
That doctor, however, definitely does not have an eye for graphic or character design.
I was bored and saw this on the Eshop one day, I thought nothing of it, but I am glad I came across the video!
Imagine this game at drinking parties. It'll be a riot.
How fitting that I got an eye health ad.
4:08 OK A custom Pres. Haltmann Yo-kai Dream medal I something I didn't know I needed until now. Man now I want to see dream medals of other characters like Meta Knight or Kracko

*Goes to eye exam*
*Doctor pulls out 3Ds*
Doctor: "Sorry to keep you waiting!"
Me: "W h a t"
Congratulations! You screwed up!
3:59 I remember hearing this sound in a beta build of Mario 3D Land
Medical equipment is always overpriced to the point that it actually reduces quality of care because most clinics simply cannot afford good enough equipment for their clients.
Something should really be done about this, but it seems like people just accept it.
That app looks very cheap. Like it was made in 2 week maximum if devs had day jobs and kids.
I remember seeing this in the e-shop and thinking; "Why is this even here?!"
Thank you for this insightful video on PDI Check! This will help the decision making that goes into spending $100 on a game for my 7 year old son.
The only thing that comes from the negative reactions to PDICheck's price is the side of gamers that can be generally exploitive. Think about it. The media has been painting gamers like me & you as these disgusting folk with no actual lives for years. Now, they can use these comments about an app that was meant for medical purposes to their advantage and show the "negative side of gamers & their dorito-filled budgets."
The PDI mascot has been a running meme within my friend group. He looks so depressed it’s kinda funny
Why not just make it a code only game if they didn’t want anyone else buying it?
What?
@@evanb6594 wait can't you get certain codes to buy 3DS games? or is that switch only?
penny, actually yes! Nintendo did it once for a meat or die promotion on Club Nintendo!
However only Nintendo themselves can do this...
@@elkitsu oh, huh
penny oh yeah, I get it now. Thanks 👍
Video games being used for beneficial health uses. What world :o
Not related to the video topic but that Pac-Man shirt you’re wearing looks pretty fresh.
When he states “$500 per exam,” there are many devices, programs, etc used by medical professionals in different fields that require licenses to use, or bill per test. He doesn’t mean $500 for the equipment that’s reusable, he means $500 for each and every exam.
That being said I don’t know anything about optometry in particular, so I can only think of some of the tests I’ve taken at my eye doctor
That evangelion reference was fantastic!
Nice vid bro, inb4 professionals in said field happen to comment
that neon genesis evangelion jiggle at 5:46 nice
So the stereo test is basically 3D Challenge then?
I'll show myself the door.
The absolute mad lad actually did it
What if one were to buy a 2ds and PDI check...
Then this app cannot be fully utilize in the 2DS as it heavily relies on the stereoscopic effect.

A cruel Angel’s Thesis
That Evangelion reference got me unexpected.
Now make a high quality rip of it’s soundtrack.
I think I get it that the reason for the $100 price tag is because A.) 1st world doctors can afford it and then B.) as a result ACES will have the funding behind them for every 3 or so sales to get a 3DS with the software to 3rd world doctors.
I better see a 3ds at my next eye exam.
All of the development apps for the 3DS have that splash sound.
@Akfamilyhome Alex Damarjian recently reuploaded this video about a month ago.
(Edit: Just if you forgot, Alex Damarjian is the guy who coded the “game”)
I don't think the challenge in making this app was necessarily any sort of programming skill. The challenge was likely a programmer that had no experience in ophthalmology creating a tool for it. The doctor that sold it likely had to work very closely with the app's programmer, or teach himself to code.
You are a total chad for purchasing this.
That logo looks awfully like the Policía de Investigaciones logo from the Chilean PDI
2:12 Lmao the kid is trying to tap the top screen.
I was hoping you'd use a custom firmware 3ds, but I like the guts.
You get a sub for being dedicated.
A piece of software's price may also reflect the number of people the developer actually expects to purchase it. If there are about 37,000 eye doctors in the US (according to the bureau of labor's statistics from about a year ago) and if every one of them buys this app, that's a pretty decent profit. But the actual sales numbers will probably be much lower than that. Still, if one out of every hundred eye doctors picks it up, that's $37,000 . . . minus whatever Nintendo's cut is. Could be as much as 30%. I'm not saying that the developer was barely keeping the lights on, but they're not making crazy amounts of money either. Then again, it doesn't seem like it would take that long to make an app like this, though it depends on the developer's level of familiarity with the 3DS. Cranking out an app designed to work on PC or in a web browser is much faster than making something work on a unique piece of hardware. And I suppose they'd need to buy a development kit too.
But yeah, developers usually have to find that balance between development cost and total units they expect to sell in order to determine what to sell each unit for. Games that are more of a niche product tend to be sold at a higher price or have noticeably lower production values.
5:43 it’s a slow clap, which is the physical equivalent of sarcasm. so yes, she sayin “great job u screwed up” but sarcastically

These would make great competitive Mario Party games
It's on sale now for $5
And I am going to buy it
I have never heard that jingle at 3:59.
It seems like a very helpful tool. Worth it for those that need it.
Gonna make an app worth $200.
Edit: The app’s use is actually good. An interesting use of the 3D for the medical field.
Do you mind if I ask why you make the "f" sound when pronouncing some words with a "th," while with most other words (such as the word "with") you seem to pronounce the "th" just fine? I know it's an accent thing, but in the accent is it just faster to make the f sound than the th?
Sorry if this comes off as rude or uninformed, I'm just super curious as to the reasoning on this.
Thanks in advance!
