Why Oligarch's Love Their Mega Yachts
Vložit

- We speak to an open-source information enthusiast, who is tracking the movements of Russian oligarchs’ superyachts.
These billionaires hold immense wealth and influence and help prop up Putin’s regime.
But by tracking these yachts, everyday people can help keep the pressure on governments to seize these giant displays of wealth, thus (theoretically) eroding the oligarchs’ support of Putin. All this, in an attempt to help end the war in Ukraine.

All boats lose value immediately. Yes at that level they are still worth a fortune but it's not a gain or steady value.
No but it’s a in case of emergency break glass fund . If you have a 600 million dollar yacht and you sell it for 300million someone will scoop it up pretty quick that has that kind of money

spending 2 million a year on maintenance to save 400 mill in funds is a good deal
@@zodiac3132 boats are a terrible investment. Ask 50 cent.
If the yacht owner is responsible for taking advantage of the average working man, there's nothing to say that the yacht couldn't be burnt to a crisp
What a load. Can you imagine the maintain one of those? It's a constant money drain.
It's literally a pittance compared to multi billion dollars. The statement here is that if you get in trouble with the law, if legislation shafts you, if your company tanks, you get your accounts frozen, you end up with claims on your estate, etc... A boat is a mobile cash bomb that will sell quickly and garner you a large sum of money. That's about it.
@@Kopa_Malphasand spending 2 million a year on maintenance to save 400 mill in funds is a good deal.
@@Kopa_Malphas I think there are much better ways for him to store money in case of these things happening. Yachts are known to cost a fortune just for taxes, maintenance, and operations. Peds love these super yachts! They sail in open waters doing wat ever two them! Amd shipping kids all around the world wiv ease!🤮✌️💯🇬🇧
I suspect you’re right. Sick ain’t it 😡
What about offshore accounts in specific jurisdictions.
Prob better to be under the radar than a big boat.
Plus if it depreciates 50%, I prefer being cash, even with current inflation. Not even taking into account yacht maintenance costs of 3-5% pa…
But you're not rich ....
How long does the boat retain value . 10-20 years ? Or how does that work. Do they constantly have to sell and re buy boats.
If you have kept up with maintenance (which is most likely the case because yachts that size always come with a crew that takes care), you might expect a resale price 80% of the initial purchase price even after 10 years. But it always depends on the condition
Yes I also have a one I didn't know where to store it thank you for sharing
Your a broke simp, be real dude
Not true. Cost to maintain.
sooo the bigger the boat the more they're hiding?
As we have learned these mega yachts can be seized.
Team Orca.
Fun fact: this is a big part of why stupid expensive glass pieces became a thing among growers, especially before the legalization wave.
Me when I have the United States Navy on my side “that will be my mega yacht now. Grunts start loading the 50s on it”
UNTIL... Russian oligarchs' yachts
He's kira (death note)
They like yachts because of "the implication"
*orca navy intensifies*
Well, but they can sink as well. 😅
Seen some my way bro
You might as well hide $800M cash in a hole in the ground. A yacht can be seized just as, if not easier, than any other asset. Once seized, it can be moved anywhere, unlike a home or real estate. How the hell you going to hide a massive vessel that requires registration, port calls, etc? How are you going to sell an asset that is frozen or subject to seizure? I doubt there is even a single example this guy could cite for what he is claiming. The US has seized at least 15 mega yachts owned by Russians in the last year alone. Clearly, the seizure avoidance angle isn't working.
You mean Amerisrael has PIRATED Russian property.
We need more limpet mines then.
PLS stay away from windows and tall buildings😅
Also why they invest in Art across borders
I know when I worry about prosecution and asset seizures at least I have Super yachts stashed in safe harbors around the world. I suggest you do the same, just to be safe !!!
Women they can entice on their yacht can't escape.
This is rather clever, If you have enough for upkeep & fees or whatever.. if I ever when the lotto, I'll buy a yacht ig
thats why less rich travel with 3 to 5 rolexs or a.p. or even patak instan money 💰
They love yachts because of the "implication"...

This is insanity. Boats lose value faster than anything, this person is ridiculously misinformed.
Chump change lil man
I know i guy whonthinks a 26000$ boat will save him from all the child support payments he refused to pay. Thanks for shedding light
He is kind of right.......the value of those boats goes down a huge amount the moment they take ownership. Its not easy to get full market value even at any given time.
They cost an extreme amount of money simply to sit in place if they aren't to have problems.
This is overstating the value and liquid nature of a mega yacht.
Smart
Until the repo man comes... I've repoed two boats. 🤷🏼
So their value can never go down like stocks. Well how about when someone unfriendly to their country decides to sink it I would imagine the value would decrease a little then😅
It sounds like rationalization. There are several ways to secure your cash
When all hell breaks loose on earth there will be massive food/energy shortages. Starving people will not want your gold. Rich people may want to buy your yacht half price. But in a world on the brink of collapse, i cant see anyone buying yachts.
The worst sins in the world can be dumped in the sea ,mobile sin is much more free than residential sin ,Maxwell was well aware of this .

Your money is not safe invested in a yacht. It can still be easily siezed the the U.S. government if you are involved in criminal enterprise. Just recently, a russian oligarchs super yacht was siezed by the U.S. department of treasury while it was in port in Fiji.
It’s only valuable if you have other donkeys with that much money to spend. Opulence is why the floods coming.

So just cause the prints are big, its a dogman? The prints dont look like hind leg footprints of a canid.
Dude... cause its a big footprint with obvious claws... it doesnt look what a dogman footprint would look like, which would be dog or wolf like but way larger & has signs of it being bipedal or quadroped but heaps larger then any known canid. Come on dude.... not everything is a dogman.
Could prob just buy a crap load of gold and have it stored in a bank or hide it. Boats? thats dumb
No, cash is cash. And if I'm not buying a boat, you won't get anything in return for your chuck e cheese token boat.

It could be a mutant bear, a genetically modified mutated mutant bear. Japan has many different CRYPTIDS to the West, not all of the stuff in the West would exist in the East.
I wouldnt say Dogman. But thats you're assumption or opinions, i dont doubt why but in my own asian background of knowledge to Cryptids & Stories, we do have our own Cryptids that are specific to the East. Many also SPIRITS or GHOSTS, they are not what you find in the West.
Don't know about "preserving" fortune, vs liquidity. Same goes for watches. Im sure they have $100k + just on 1 watch.... Sure its not $400m...

They should have super glue a black linen cloth within the masks as to black out the eyes cannot see through the eye hole but the wearer can see out. Best way to stay anonymous due to the eyes can always give out a mans identification, main thing a computer uses to match facial identifications.
It always obtain eyes first then it does the matching. Voice also can be identified fairly easy for AI & voice matching software, hence why lots of journalists that go sleeping in enemy beds always disguise voices of ISIS speakers etc & or Cartel members etc etc.
Not to say a person can always change their voice tone & their natural way of speaking like a change in how deep their voice tone is just smash down a full 2 pack of Parliments or Malboro's Reds in a sitting & bing bang boom you sound like a USA flag hat with the word YEW'GONGIT'sum! Remote homestead or build a small self sufficient city is the way to go if you got it like that
The value goes down 20% the moment you set sail, what's this guy even saying
He litterally says if he has an 8 million yacht he can get 4 million guaranteed
You are right but if you are scared of frozen bank accounr or house raid by authorities or stock/crypto market crash. Than this is a way to store some value somewhere around the world.
Yes it will loose a lot of its value and cost a lot of money to maintain. But at the end of the day there is logic behind
$500,000,000 in free money minus $100,000,000 in free money equals $400,000,000 in free money.
