- This clip is over 4 years old and I think about it every few weeks. We did this shoot with Alan from Low when Brothers came out and I asked him for parenting advice as kind of a goof… but this shit has just STUCK WITH ME. Just profound and practical advice on so many levels imho. I was just now chatting with him about something unrelated and asked if I could post this now and he said yes ❤️ I hope if you have kids or work with kids it helps you as much as it has helped me.

Low rules!! I saw them in Austin, Tx. back in the 90s right after “Long Divison” came out!! Amazing show!!
Alan´s advice is spot on, I don´t get why my kid is mad at me now , just because I woke him up at 3AM to play with me
🤣👍
Joel seemed so nervous to ask his question but Alan was so humble and wise with his advice. Low forever.
Thank you for sharing this - as a pediatrician for 25 years, I'd echo everything he said. He just made it sound so much cooler ;-)
As a father to a 15 month old - this is great advice. Thank you Joel and Alan. Thanks for the “dadvice”
It's like something we all know, but forget from time to time, so need to be reminded... Cheers Alan and Joel
I come back to this clip every few months, and the quiet simple "embrace life" Alan gives here. There's nothing really revolutionary in the almost-three minutes, but the surety of Alan's perspective is what I focus on. With Joel and his company, Alan and his band, I can imagine the distractions they might experience from parenthood. Me? I'm a more regular type of parent, a bit more mundane in my daily life. But the universal part of the plea here is not "spend time with your kids" but "be active about how you spend time with your kids". And for that, it's a deep and meaningful piece of advice.
Thanks Joel and Alan.
And a quiet thank you to Mimi, whose passing I just learned of. Makes this advice a bit more poignant.
Thank you, Alan. Thank you, Joel. This is the reminder I need right now.
I have an almost 5 month old and work with kids (and their family's) who have been in trouble/incarcerated. I had to take the headphones off part way through this video and pay attention to my son based on being reminded of what is important from this video. Good stuff.....thanks for sharing!
So true. Good reminder. Thank you so much, guys. ❤️
Needed this. Thank you!
Wise words. Mine are turning fifteen and eighteen, and those early years feel like they flew past in the blink of an eye.
Wonderful musician and man 🖤 RIP Mimi
Good reminder here!
Wise words from Al.
Best kids review ever
I love his voice 😎
💚
You guys
Where is the rest of the interview?
CBA and Low?! Same time!? (wide-eyed)
