I had the opportunity to meet Francis In 2018 a week after his loss to Derek Lewis. I was at the vegas airport waiting for a connecting flught and saw him. I approached him nervously, he had his headphones in so I had to signal to him that I wanted to photo. He seemed confused at first, but then realized what I was asking
For and humbly abliged. I then proceeded to tell him how I felt bad for his loss the previous week but told him how I had no doubt he would be champion one day. I looked at me blankly and then went on to apologize to me? I didn’t understand but he was saying sorry for letting me down. Never in my life would I expect a ufc fighter to be so real with me.

To go through all the hardships of being from Africa and all the disadvantages of being a black man in a white dominated world and to defy all odds and go against literally everyone including his own family that didn’t believe in him and now to comeback from his loss against Stipe and Lewis to become the scariest UFC champ ever known.
