- More than 60 years of racing heritage helped set the stage for the most important debut in Corvette’s racing history tonight, as Chevy’s first mid-engine GTLM race car - the Corvette C8.R - made its surprise debut alongside the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible at the Kennedy Space Center. The C8.R and Corvette Stingray represent a true technology transfer, taking lessons from the street straight to the track and vice versa.

When First I heard the sound clip of C8.R long ago I was 95% sure of it being FPC V8. Still it being Corvette I was still unsure and a part of me was not ready to agree. Now after this reveal even though Chevrolet have not officially announced it I am 100% sure it is FPC.
Flat plane crank? Am I hearing things?
Sounds more like a Ferrari.
Crank is cross plane because of revs of max hp is about 6500, firing order 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3.
Flat plane sound has been achieved by piping odd firing cylinder exhaust from one bank to another. I think.
Maksym Tarasevych it’s always unique how a flat plane crank engine sounds. For example, I’ve seen videos of people turning a Ford Coyote 5.0L V8 cross plane into a flat plane. Sounds like the Shelby GT350 5.2L. I’ve also seen videos of people turning a standard C6 and C7 Corvette pushrod engine into a flat plane crank. It’s a very unique sound on its own.
@@MarkMeadows90 You are right!
I missed release which unveils flat plane crank and dohc.
