And it's a total banger, so it was a wise choice.

CORE is my favorite Dungeon Theme in Undertale. I love how it goes uninterrupted by even random encounters, underlining that a very final confrontation lies up ahead. And no, I don't mean Mettaton. I mean, behind him, what you prepare to face in Asgore, the King of Monsters.
(My favorite Battle Theme, however, is Hopes and Dreams.)

When I first reached this level, I have not only experienced such wonderful joy to my ears, but also thought that "darn, this awesome music is gonna get interrupted with a battle music as soon as I fight someone as this is the game's habit of changing the level music with a battle music whenever a battle starts."
But to my surprise, it did not, and this is the ONLY level in the whole game where its music does not get interrupted due to battles. I can't tell you how happy I felt when I realized that it did not get interrupted, especially that this is the best level music in the entire game.

Definitely my favorite track of the entire game Much credit to Toby for making this, as well as the people who put in all their effort for the various remixes. Definitely a tough one to make a remix from ear, with no background in this stuff.
I never knew there was a difference from the OST and in game. But hearing this triggered a flood of CORE nostalgia so it must be accurate.
This version's pitch almost sounds like there's more urgency to it. Really encouraging you to push on and make it beyond.

Sky Jack Already exists, it’s called Undertale. The pitch corrected versions are what you hear in the game, whilst the others are from the versions of the songs found in the soundtrack.
Although there’s a few exceptions? Like the first time fighting Mettaton EX in a neutral route, you’ll hear the original, but if you die to him it’ll play the one that’s sounds like it’s from the soundtrack.

I also love that the "Enemy Approaching" theme doesn't interrupt it when you enter battle. This theme is serious business.
One of my favorite areas in the game, yet it’s so short and small.
Replayed the game semirecently. Was shocked by how much tension the core has. I was an idiot child playing the game the first time (at least compared to now) and just completely missed all the foreshadowing.
This is actually higher pitched than what it plays in the game. Still not as low-pitched as the uncorrected version, though.

Thanks a lot this version is better! I love how the area is a research center. I listen to it while trying setting up computer or game thingies. The"warmer" version from Elu Tran doesn't fit well, "But, this... does put a smile on my face".

Also please tell me I’m not the only one who is driven nuts by ASGORE, it’s a weird key between C sharp minor/e major and D minor/F major, thankfully someone also made a version of that where the semitone was increased by 1/2 step making it easier on my ears

almost nobody knows the reason it plays over enemies is not because it's the "final" area, but because the encounters are scripted (not random like almost elsewhere), so the encounters in the core are a part of the level, so hence the level music continues playing..
no, the reason is quite literally just because it's the final area and it keeps a sense of motion to the game even when battles interrupt gameplay
Most CORE encounters are still random, it's just those on the bridge that are scripted

Perhaps the detune was done intentionally.
Touhou's themes are detuned by abot 50 cents too. Besides when you retune you reduce the waveform quality unless you speedup/slow down or you recompile the music from its source.

Which Touhou themes are detuned ? Any rip I've made of the game soundtracks sounds exactly the same as opposed to this which clearly different in game and in the files.

There are twelve different keys, A through G#, on a keyboard. The original Core theme is played exactly halfway between C# and D, likely to achieve a certain tonal effect. This video takes the song and pitches (moves) it upwards to D minor, but it loses the tonal capabilities Toby Fox intended it to have. Asgore’s theme, Undertale, Fallen Down, and a couple others are examples of songs that are “between keys” if you will. If you wanted to play along on a piano, they’d have to be repitched, like in this video.

Since I'm as much an Earthbound fan as I am an Undertale fan, I decided to play this theme when I entered Stonehenge Base.
Perfect fit while entering a technological HQ for Giygas' army of Starmen, Octobots, and other minions.
