- VIVALDI, THE RED PRIEST
Hello, everyone! In celebration of the utterly amazing milestone of 100 MILLION VIEWS on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, I decided to create a biographical video of him! I worked pretty hard on this, and have even closed captioned it for you, as well; just click the “CC” button.
Here are links to previous biographies I’ve done:
Händel: • Handel, the Cosmopolit...
Wyschnegradsky: • Wyschnegradsky, the My...
H. Wakabayashi: • H. Wakabayashi - Compo...
Thank you for viewing! If you have any thoughts, please comment below. Have a wonderful day, and thank you for all the views on the Four Seasons! Next stop: 200,000,000 views!

Vivaldi's Four Seasons is arguably the most phenominal composition of musical genius ever composed. Thank God it was rediscovered.
I have been listening to Vivaldi for nearly 30 years but have only recently begun looking into the composer's life; I always knew that Vivaldi was an inactive Catholic priest but always assumed that this was because he was some type of cloistered, aristocratic musician who lived in the Vatican and composed music rather than saying mass. Far from it. It is amazing to me that Vivaldi was able to write such glorious music whilst living such a tenuous existence. Given the poverty that Vivaldi was eventually to die in, it is an indictment of his society that a man whose music so many enjoy today was left to an early grave and virtual obscurity.
So sad that so many composers, musicians, artists, writers etc died impoverished and then became rediscovered and made famous hundreds of years later......
I agree... But I'm glad they get rediscovered so people today can listen to these great works... 😊
It is something to ponder on dont you think ?
We live in a society that forgot the importance of art. In ancient Egypt, professional sculptors were royal and painters as well.
@@shawnsam5602 how is art important to humanity ? You're centuries behind
Ahhh, so your the guy who uploaded the most viewed classical music video on yt. Ty for your upload, I can’t tell you how many times the 4 seasons brightened up my mood!
Thanks for the bio. Vivaldi deserves more recognition.
I first heard the four seasons at school in 1960. What a way to start a life of enjoyment of music! What an enlightened teacher!
As a school project, we are doing a biography on a famous composer and I chose Vivaldi. This video helped immensely, thank you!
same
Great presentation! Enjoyed learning about the man behind the music.
Fate is funny sometimes; he became a priest, something that would have prevented him from composing music for the most part. But more intriguing is his asthma; he could have chosen a woodwind or other types of instruments, which might have changed the course of musical history Thank you!
I am a choreographer creating new works and it's been incredible to study Vivaldi's masterpiece" Four Seasons." Thank you for taking an interest in his work!
For audiophiles/hi-res fans, the Vivaldi recordings on the Naïve Classics label are stellar, and also there's my absolute favourite for sound quality + great performance: those by violinist Rachel Podger on the Channel Classics label. Flawless!
Audiophiles? Isn't that what Benjamin Britten was?

I grew up with Vivaldi, and now my kids are. Thanks for this!
It just amazes me how all these composers could possibly fall into obscurity and then be found centuries later. Thank God for the written word or note.
My 2 yr old sister likes to watch little eintines and when she goes to sleep i always put on videos from your channel. She loves classical music! Keep doing a great job!
That's a great honor; thank you for sharing that!
Love the biographies you do.
Very informative and interesting. I love classical and Vivaldi is among the best in my opinion. Thank you so much for sharing
Thank you for this comprehensive glimpse into the life of an amazing artist. Just goes to show that profound beauty transcends time and mainstream opinions. Watching L'Invierno performed is so powerful, I had to know more about it's creator
Vivaldi, My Boy.

I just got into classical music... Vivaldi's works just stuck with me... I dunno why... They just did.
Thank you for making this video! We enjoyed it today during our homeschooling time. I appreciate the work you’ve done. Thank you for sharing!
Very educational, so much attention to detail. Thank you for your time and effort in making the vlog.
Thank you very much for creating this video! I absolutely LOVE Vivaldi, He is one of my favourite composers, I just can't get enough of him. My other very best is Beethoven, I know there have been a lot of research on His life, but I would appreciate a compilation like this in your translation.

Ahhh a tragic end for such a great man. Hayden didn't even bother playing at his funeral. :=(
He was a choir boy back in time
Haydn was all of 9 years old when Vivaldi died.
Haydn was a lazy bastard!
Got to ask mate, is this a true story? Seriously Haydn was a strange guy really, we know nothing about him as a man which makes his Music so indifferent but I imagine him to be quite a horrible bastard, he certainly did not give his wife a good marriage.
Love, Vivaldi❤️❤️❤️Amazing how many composers died not knowing how long their works would be played! Imagine if you brought them back to see Satellite radio and CZcams and Symphony cast on Sirius or The Mozart buffet everyday on our local KBAQ... they would need smelling salts!!
Thank you for this. I am only slowly getting into classical music and know next to nothing about most of these famous composers.
Absolutely loved it. Thanks for your efforts. Love history and learning about the details of a person's life long ago...
Looking for some nonintrusive background music during my studies a neighbor let me copy some classical compilation CD's. While resting and in the 'zone' a vision of walking through the forest in fallen leaves came to mind. When I looked to see what was playing it was Antonio Vivaldi's Autumn. I listen to a lot of classical music (Besides classic Rock and Roll!) with Vivaldi my favorite. Another of my faves is Shostakovich. What a story he lived! Eric Satie as well. Satie's life, as some of his works, was an enigma of its own.
So thanks for uploading this and it's ok if you didn't have the time to do that edit. Small distraction from the overall excellent production.
This video DESERVES more views! Folks, MORE views!
Excellent content and presentation! I needed a refresher on Vivaldi and this is wonderful. I remember listening to the Four Seasons in winter with the snow falling and feeling the magic of the music and the moment.

Tiktok brought me here and as a have been forever, music lover, I'm obsessed lol😂❤
Thank you. Nice composition, Evan Bennett!
Yes. Thank you!
Your presentation was wonderful. Vivaldi would of appreciated your work as much as you appreciate his. I have subscribed you your channel. Keep up the good work. In these days of trying times we could all use a little peaceful work.
Thank You so much for your wonderful video! I am a voice teacher, and I have two students singing "Esurientes" for winter recital. I wanted to know more about one of my favorite composers. I had no idea about some of the information you shared. Much appreciated!

the violin genius
Thanks for this fascinating account of Vivaldi! I started the video thinking I would just watch it for a few moments "to get a flavor.". I ended up watching the whole thing. Thanks!!
We used to play the recording called "Vivaldi-Music Minus One Violin". Haven't seen it anywhere lately; Violinists could practice either the first or second along with the other audible violin; Easy to imagine playing it live back then, yes ? Amalie Smith, an excellent violinist in her own right (Champaign Urbana-Illinois) used to play along with her father's " String Choir" students; thus the idea for a little cello player who gets up on stage to play along with the first four presidents. Yep...INSPIRATION is what it's all about. Her brother George Louie Como Smith, brought most of the humor to "our" string quartets... may he RIP. I'm hoping Amalie sees her name here. Her name SHOULD be in "Lights!"
"Honey Visits With the Famous First Four" as " Time Goes By".
thank you
Thank you for this overview- i homeschool my 3rd and 7th grade boys, and Vivaldi is listed in our curriculum. This was perfect!
That’s covered- drums and guitar and we have a piano and a violin. So we’re building!

About the 2012 spike in view, I maybe have a theory. Could be relevant to the re-work of the four seasons by Max richter maybe. Anyways thanks for your work.

If only he could have known, how successful his 4 seasons would become..

Well done. Wonderful, thank you.
Just a side note for next time; for me, the background music was too loud and a little overpowering, hard to focus). Cheers :)

It turns out that Vivaldi and J.S. Bach were contemporaries. But it was Bach who blasted through the harmonic ceiling of Baroque standard practice by embracing the enhanced expressive possibilities that all those pesky subversive notes outside the key only recently unlocked by tempered tuning held in store for the future. Not Handle not Telleman not Vivaldi; In his most adventurous pieces Bach would warp his highly disciplined counterpoint through the most far-flung harmonic explorations both virtical and linear. Bach's pioneering harmonic approaches embedded in his counterpoint wern't to be duplicated untill the very late 19th century. Anyway I used to live in Northern Italy 30 min from Venice so Vivaldi's music is played there daily. It is the soundtrack of Venice. But musicians and composer's have always lived often precarious lives just like today. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to play jazz in the subway station.
Bach was extremely conservative.Sweenlick and others laided those foundations. When Bach was alive the baroque was already over and the fashion was gallante that's why he was good at counterpoint because counterpoint was already saturated after 90 years of baroque
The video is amazing
Did anyone ever figure out that he was a woman disguised as a man. I knew the second I saw "him".??? But an amazing and talented musician and composer.
Vivaldi more like Aldi
mmm aldi ham
