Both reach perfection of human motion. I muted the commentary, released laid-back rhythmic music and watched. It then struck me how good their timing is and how fluid their transitions are. They play with their bodies like a pianist plays with his hands. The amount of practice needed must be awesome.

Ikr. It was so fluid and captivating but it must be cause of some weird difficulty thing. From what I understand, they are scored based more on difficulty than how fun and artistic the routine is.

I think the Averina twins are really good. The only thing i hope for in their future is a quality that Kanaeva and Kudryatvseva and Mamun had - the ability to do the routine so that it looks slow and relaxed but still has amazing amounts of difficulty. Now, all the Averina twins have is difficulty, while theor routines look quite frantic to be able to fit in all their difficulty. They are still young though and have time to gain this quality. Kudry didn't have it until 2014, so they still have time. It's just something I hope to see from them, they're very promising.

Difficulty can’t be done with your type of slow action, you just need to catch up with their speed or don’t watch matches, just go enjoy some dancing or gymnastics shows.

Well... what a competition!
Although I overall thought that Dina was more wobbly than usual, and than Arina, I understand her gold, as she was getting more secure, while Arina was getting more wobbly as the competition went on. Arina’s ball was perfect, so charismatic, her clubs were awesome, but she started before the music (I think she thought that it’d already started), her ribbon was good, but not her best (falling out of the ring pivot?) and her hoop was just not her usual security. But that’s fine, she’s not as sure about her style as her sister, not as mature, and not on her maximum yet. I think she has also the problem that Dina is obviously so often compared to her, and as she has always someone to be measured against, she has issues of finding herself. But as said, that’s fine, and she did amazing here. Her speed is just as remarkable as Dina’s, she has some (even apparatus!) elements that are just plain insane, as difficult as Dina’s, and I have to say, her bodywork is the best in that whole competition. Her ring pivots with backbend, three turns or more, in that crazy position are just mind blowing, even Sasha and Zhenya could get jealous! You’ve got to be Arina Averina to have a ring pivot as your signature element!! But Dina just has that champion’s vibe, what can I say... A champion in RG, a legend, has to have perfect work on the carpet, something that stands out, the russian nationality, Viner as coach and all that, but more importantly she has to be classic. You have to be able to refer to her when you’re talking about the “quintessential rhythmic gymnastics”. Also, you have to have a winner’s mind. Like Dina. When she’s on the carpet, she does the routine with that typical russian champion’s attitude. And what is even more important, she has that hoop and clubs routine, which are classic af, with Swan Lake and that typical russian style. Her hoop routine is her best that season, because the music is so classic, which makes it easy to move in a certain way. More importantly, that hoop routine is way more than sport. Until now, Yana was the only gymnast able to pack melancholy into her routines, all the other champions just had sometimes a masterpiece like Mamun with her Black Swan ribbon 2016. I hope Dina is not one of them, and that this hoop is not her last exercise of that level. I think though that she identifies herself more with her clubs, rather than her hoop though, so let’s see what her routines are going to be. Her ball was crap this year by the way, everyone it did was having a music that Italy liked and lots of difficult elements. No deep emotion, no over going of the sport. Her ribbon was a good attempt, but not finished. I loved the Flamenco idea, but the music was too raw and the ribbon’s colours to much fire-themed. Also the routine had no link to Flamenco at all, just her unitard was amazing. I hope Arina is getting routines this year that have as much potential as Dina’s hoop, a little bit more classic. Her ball was by far the best, but not really finished as well, her hoop had absolutely wonderful music, and it seemed like everything was going to come together at the beginning of the season with that amazing red unitard, but well, idk what happened. Her clubs were basically on the level of Dina’s ball, her ribbon was the only one truly finished, but they could have done something a bit more interesting than that russian style. But well. She’s going to find herself, she’s so delicate and lovely now, so don’t force her, just enjoy Dina while she’s getting ready. I missed Sasha though. But well, I hope she’s better now. By the way, Linoy is my favourite non-russian, I think she is the new Tchachina. Crazy heights in leaps, so much raw power, incredible masteries and she too is just so fast!! She doesn’t exude much feminine fragility but who cares when you see her performing. Anyway, great year, thanks FIG, I just hope that Sasha and Ermolova are getting back this year. Also, Semeova is back in competition! So excited!

Arina wasn't as her best, she has a little shoulder injury😔And the SUPERB red unitard super we saw only a few times and one of my favorite leos of all time! Dina... Perfect! A true champion! For Linoy, she was my crush since 2016! SO packful routines, and what jumps! I just want to add a few things: 6th place WTF for Laura Zeng, the revelation Taseva, the powerful Vladinova, and my new favorite ... Agiurgiuculese! all his routines are dazzling!
Claire Martin Aha I know, sometimes I can’t stop myself 😅 I have to agree for Agiurgiuculese, she’s so surprising. My favourite though is Sasha, she’s so perfect. I love Arina for her amazing body work, and the one I’m really looking forward to is Ermolova, she’s just out of this world. But Semenova is back in competition as well, and her ball looks so great!
Yes...Sasha needs another coach! Hey body work is perfection, but she needs masteries. About Ermolova, she's not my favourite gymnast but she is so fluid anc clean! AND.... Semenova is back!? Were did you see that? If she come back, 2018 will be a superb RG year♥

Yes, I was so mad when I saw the results! The good news is that Linoy, Katya and Kaho were all ahead, even with mistakes. So when they are clean next time, they will be even further ahead and Zeng has no chance of catching them. Also, gymnasts who are usually ahead, like Harnasko, Pazhava, Agiugiuculese, Taseva and Baldassarri made mistakes, so hopefully they also will perform cleanly next time to push zeng back. Her 6th place was so undeserved because she is so overscored!!!
