      Hi Jay. Yes, I can certainly recommend a journey to Laos. In fact I want to go again once Covid has settled down.

      Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. It is possible to do the trip in reverse, going downstream. In that case it starts from hotel or airport in either Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai. After we disembarked we travelled by minibus (organised by Pandaw) to Chiang Mai where we caught the overnight train to Bangkok. On the way to Chiang Mai we stopped in Chiang Rai to visit the White Temple and to have lunch at a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms.

    Great video. What time of year did you go? I'm going late Feb and just wondering how warm/cold it so be 🤣

      We were there in late January/early February. This is the cooler part of the dry season and at times it was very cool! We'd been forewarned about this and made sure we had jerseys and jackets (also a pashmina to use as a scarf). It was only cold at night and in the early morning. During the day the weather was lovely. Clothes that you can wear as layers are the answer. I hope you have a great time - I'd love to do it again.

    do you have to get off at chiang kong thailand? or can you stay on laos side and keep on traveling on your own?

    • @HavePension-WillTravel
      @HavePension-WillTravel  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can stay on the Laos side. The tour guide would be able to tell you about where to get other transport - boats, buses, taxis etc.

      @@HavePension-WillTravel thank you so much for your reply, and forgot to say what an awesome trip you showed us! i'm actually thinking about buying a scooter in laos, which only cost about 700 usd or so, and it would be nice if i could bring the scooter along onboard the cruise, get off at huay xai(the town on laos side of the river, oppositing chiang khong, thailand), and ride my way back to vientiane, at my own leisure ;)
