MrBeast's $1,000,000 Dilemma

  • Let’s say, hypothetically, that famous CZcamsr Mr. Beast created a free $1,000,000 contest in which anyone could play, but the only chance for a winner is if one and only one person entered.
    What would you do? Would you enter and hope you were the only one? Would you enter just to destroy another person’s chances? Would you not bother at all because you were so sure tons of other people would try?
    And here’s the real question: Is it even possible to win this game? Welcome to the Platonia Dilemma, in which Kevin examines a mind-blowing logic game and uncovers the only possible pathway to victory: superrationality.

Imagine this scenario played out millions of times. Sure, declining to snatch the prize means you wont win this time, but when your turn comes the only way you could win is if no one else tries to snatch it. It's pretty easy. No one can win.
    You have two options: Like or don't like. The only way you can win is by liking. Not liking is useless, because you can (in theory) help someone you don't know win, which not many people care about. So basically, with liking you would have a very small chance to win in theory and with not liking you will lose anyway.
    That's why 9/10 people will like and there is no chance to win, especially with a bigger group.

      @fire_aspect_5142 Před 3 lety +2

      I think the problem is that if you could see the people you were competing against you would lose your dignity: ie you would feel guilt. Because the internet provides a way for anyone to hide behind the wall of their account picture you will feel very little guilt. I could insult you brutally and it might make an impact on you, but nothing would happen to me. Even if at one point we did meet up irl we almost certainly wouldn’t realize who each other were. The internet provides a place where you can hide out and be completely insensitive mean and cruel with no impact on your own life. This provides an explanation to why trolls are so prevalent. We need to strive to make it a better place because just because we won’t be affected doesn’t mean others won’t. So that’s why I wouldn’t like the video.
