      @@Pianokeys-ee5of because people wasn't ready for it. Aubrey had such a choke hold on the music scene he was buys making shein/mcd music that people had got use to short catchy tik tok music. Yea there were amazing artist out there but we have to actively go and look for them. So kdot had taken a break got mentally and physically well and his new headsapce was reflected in the music and and it came from left field. I think a lot didn't see Mr moral as the natural move forward for Kendricks music hes not that 20 year old kid any more his music had evolved

    • @leilaikusura4904
      @leilaikusura4904 Před 23 dny +5

      @@deedeedussard Agreed and also it's coz many people refuse to do self reflection and sit with their own bullshit as well as the consequences of the traumas they have faced/are facing so much so that distractions is the way they numb. Mr. Morale calls you to go in and sit with yourself, reflect, asses and come to terms with your actual truth, that's hard AF to do. So instead they choose to call it "trash" as a way to deflect their discomfort. Personally, that album is still helping me in my therapy. ❤

    Also when gunplay says he ain’t seen the back of his eyelids for the past 72hrs. Thats part of the grind to come up out of poverty but also the result of his conscience and paranoia due to the way he trying to get money or just as a result of being in that dangerous environment. This song is so layered which really plays back to the reality that a lot of inner city people live day to day. My mom worked hard to get us out of that environment and I’m working hard to stay out of it and it isn’t easy. No one wants to depend on the county nor do we want to stay in that messed up condition. That type of hunger/drive to get out isn’t something that can be cosplayed. It’s different. That’s why Kendrick is a different kind of beast.

    @KnoxHill Are we glossing over the idea that "he" is 2PAC, "she" is Hip-Hop, and "Sandbox" is the culture?
    He was raised in the hip-hop culture "next" to pac when pac was representing the violence in the culture, while the culture gave birth to the next generation of emcees inspired by all of that.
    Makes sense given that 2PAC is the one on the news when he mentions "seen you on the news", and along with most the other bars that made reference to the father figure.
    Doubly makes sense when we know Kendrick sees himself as the second coming of PAC, and so imagining himself as the "son" makes sense artistically with the religious parallels to christ.

    The fact that you can break this down being a first reaction , hell even if it wasn't and you listened to this 2 or 3x still worthy of applause, with the rhythm layers, complex things going on you can get lost in it. I never decoded the lyrics and have listened to it for years

    People who are Prince fans will appreciate how he layers vocals (male and female), typically him singing high, low and mid with included effects on his voice. He is such a Prince fan. So much of Kendrick’s music takes cues from Prince. Rest in power.

    I always took that sound of the woman in the background during the chorus being something like pulsating trauma sounds while you go in and out of consciousness, being entranced into the TV because your mom or a baby was screaming in desperation in the background. Then when the adlibed gun sounds shoots, before Gunplay’s verse, it was coming from either domestic violence or outside gunshots. Idk seemed poetic in a sense to me.

    My favorite Kdot song.. Use to have this on repeat in high-school. It’s bringing back a certain memory that I can’t really grasp onto. Every time it shows itself in my mind I try to focus on it & can’t hold on.. smh But I believe this is definitely his best song that I’ve ever heard💯.. YEAH THIS ME, NO 🎙️, NO 📸, NO 💡, JUST PAIN !!😩, MAMA! HOW! MUCH TRAMA! CAN I SUSTAIN!!??🗣️🗣️🗣️ 🖤
