1:00 Mahayana Buddhism arrived in China through Central Asia Silk route. Then many Chinese monks went to pilgrimage to India for learning more about Buddhism in detail and lived here and gave accounts of life in India during those times. They travelled all across India and described it's people, their nature and culture at that time. They were impressed by Indians of that time because they were rich but still didn't had envy for it. They lived simple lives and gave most of their money for charity and construction of religious places. India was centre of universities like Nalanda during that time where Chinese people lived for throughout their lives.

Chinese people cannot be catogerized into religions. They follow different faiths. For an example, only like 18% of chinese identify them as Buddhists. But nearly 30% of them worship Buddha. There was a research about this. Religious identification depends on the questions for them.
