Splendid. Schumann's music is as fascinating as it is beautiful. I love Mr. Adolphe's lectures

Fantastic! There are striking affinities between the aria “Herr, du siehst statt guter Werke” taken from Bach’s Cantata BWV 9, beginning with the last few notes of Schumann’s slow movement, then developed segue in its finale from an initial three-note cell (descending 5th, ascending major 6th)-then Schumann quotes Bach’s line “wir glauben nimmst du an” almost verbatim, but with doubled notes, in a rising sequence. So many references in this music!

If you are referring to Ian Bostridge, he is probably accompanied by Julius Drake.

I do love these but can we get some different composers? Same old dudes over and over again.
