Hey there! Just saying a massive THANK YOU for this video! This fix worked for my 2017 Q3. Had an inspection this morning, I failed due to this issue… came home and watched this video, did your suggestion and my brake lights work again! And I just passed inspection! You have no idea how relieved I am that I didn’t go to a mechanic for this issue. You made my day man
I had a similar problem, picked up as an Advisory in an MOT, the tailgate light clusters were not working, but working on the lower light units. The connector that you highlighted was ok but spring loaded flap 'makes' a switch on the other side. In my case the spring had broken so the flap was permanently down, however, when I took off that silver plastic strip I found the other part of the spring, fitted it so the flap functioned as it was intended and the lights now work properly. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, if I'd taken it to a garage they would probably have wanted to replace the whole strip at quite a cost.
Cool. Recently people were beeping at me and warning that tail lights weren't working and I was about to go to service but thankfully after locking/unlocking the car the lights came back on. Now I know what to check instead of paying hundred euros for diagnostics :D
Same! In LA, Audi is charging $1,800 for lights, mechanic is charging $700 to replace lights but neither promised that’s the issue. I knew it was BS or ignorance. You’re saving me possibly over 2 grand. Much respect for you!
Great video. I have a 2019 Audi Q5 and the backup light on the passenger side wasn't working so I replaced it with a recommended 921 Sylvania bulb. Still not working. Can someone help me to fix that problem,. Thanks in advance.
Hi. I was thinking about reply but hardcto say what could be wrong. I think could be connections but elektrician will have to trace problem. At this moment hard to find problem without seeing car.
Having the same issue with 2017 Q3 , This car does not have such switches as you describe, Not even a wiring harness there, no wires at all.. What now ? Any Advice to look or check next ? (11-06-23)
Hi. Im after looking in online Audi parts catalogue and in 2017 Audi Q3 showing this sensor for boot lid. OEM number is 8U0947555A You saying there is no sensor so i will start from boot lock becouse lock must have sensor as well informing that boot is open. If you type OEM number of this sensor in google You will see photos where it is and try to find him. Im might be wrong but catalogue shows this sensor in Your Q3. Check please and reply how its going with this sensor.
FYI. I just changed out the bulb on my 2019 Audi Q5. I struggled and struggled to come to find that Audi has replaced the Phillips head screw with a T 25 torques nut.
@@Andyborowik lower light cluster in the rear bumper. It was the side marker light. I watched two different videos and they said about using a Phillips screwdriver. But on my 2019 it takes a T 25 torques.
I have this issue. But my issue is a manufacturer recall on the 2017 q3 tail lights not working at all. Audi stated the BCM needs updating. How do you do that?
New cars have lots of computers on board this colud be true about update specially if it a Audi recall. But i will check this connection first. Any one can check this connection, its very simple and cheap cost nothing.
Looking that thay are similar cars. Not too many changes between them. And i think its the same. But i dont have that car now to check it. I think You should try its minute job but its worth it.

Thay only work when boot is open. So if You disconnect cable with sensor that I show thay will stay on and than top lights not work at all. But this is not good idea i think 🤔
Problem is with connection. There is sensor witch one is reading if boot is open or closed. If connections not good car computer reading that boot is open this is why bottom lights are on all the time. So check connections or sensor. Some times good is cut out connection and solder wires for good.
@@MidgleyRossnot sure becouse i never had any problem with bulbs so i didnt remove light. I cant say is there any access for bulb without removing light.
