One of my all time favorite Sphongle tracks. Simon Posford is a undisputed music genius.
I still can't believe how good this intro is, I remember that we listened to this like 5 hours into the trip, and 0:31 literally felt like ENTERING INTO THE BABY CRY, and then being completely hypnotized by the reverbed percussive and the whole rest of the song. Unforgettable, one of the best psychedelic songs ever, every part is just so well done and layered.

I'll never forget leaving boulder CO one night with all my friends, driving the car back to denver in a crazy rainstorm and played the entire shpongle album as loud as it could go. every occupant of the car was entranced and in another world.

First time I broke through on DMT was while listening to this song. I was outside and the sun had just started to the rise. I took my entire dose in one huge toke.
I remember exhaling right as they started talking at the beginning of the song and things went from 0-100 real quick..
Meeting DMT entities for the first time with this song blasting in the background is just an insane experience. I felt like I had channeled some hidden Mayan/Aztec energy and the entities that I met looked exactly like some Mayan or Aztec gods.
They took me on a raft through what I can only describe as some mystical river through temples and a jungle. At the time I had an extremely unhealthy diet, weighed 400lbs, smoked cigarettes, and did a shit load of drugs. The entities told me to take care of my heart and body. Almost every DMT breakthrough I had was the entities telling me to love myself and it’s all that matters. Sounds cliché, but given the setting, it was very profound.
4 years later I’m sober from all drugs, besides occasional cannabis use and kratom for pain. I quit smoking cigs, and lost over 200lbs. If it weren’t for my psychedelic experiences, idk if I would have had the outside perspective of my unhealthy self that motivated the change of lifestyle.

I have consumed an ungodly amount of fresh (wet) cubensis to this mystical track. I was the shaman, the sun was purple. Magical. Time meant nothing, and the universe conveyed in this song, was MY universe.

theres something about listening to a shpongle song before and after you listen to it while on a psychedelic experience.
My first trip with 1P i listened to the whole of "tales of the inexpressible" and my god, now listening to it sober i get fragments of what I felt during the peak of my experience and holy moly I still get goosebumps and that tingling feeling everytime.
i call that magic.
The last time I listened to this album was during my heaviest and last dxm trip 7 years ago. I used to listen to this album and their first one religiously during all my dxm trips beforehand.
Listening right now, all the memories I had buried or forgotten resurfaces. I can remember many cev's and auditory hallucinations I thought I lost forever. The strangest thing is that I can barely touch the headspace I was in at the time, like reminiscences of who I was exactly at a certain point in the music. I don't know if It is a good or a bad thing, but one thing is for sure, time is a bitch that flies sooooo fast.
That my friend, is the magic. Unspeakable, but very feel able. Pretty crazy.

This was my first exposure to Shpongle and more widely the downtempo psychdelic soundcape / psybient (however you wish to characterise it) - someone on KaZaA suggested it to me and I haven't looked back.
It's funny to think that without the advent of P2P music sharing we wouldn't have the cultural pollination we have today, we would all be stuck listening to Elvis, or other such servants of the closed mind.
It's funny to think that if hippies in the 60s and 70s didn't go to India to have these experiences, we wouldn't know about them at all in the West.
Reality is ripping at the seams.
This song has had such a large impact on my life and who I am as a person. Simon Posford and this track in particular is what inspired me to start producing music.
'Star Shpongled Banner' really is a suiting title for this piece - this song alone pretty much sums up all of Shpongle's music in an eight minute nutshell, going from soothing to trippy and back to soothing in a matter of seconds
Favorite Shpongle I want more songs to have an Indian root like this does. I feel like some really lack it
