    OMG My favorite tech youtuber just showed me how to remove the shocks on my Jeep. You were making great videos even back in 2012!

    Good catch, I fixed the link. Now the wrenches are metric. Hope that didn't throw anyone off too much.

    Man you are awesome! Your videos taught me how to fix my phone, and you had a YJ?!?

    Very nice video, gives me confidence, so I’m gonna do it myself. Thank you.

    That's really it. I could probably replace each shock in less than 20 minutes. I'll get faster after you first one.

    It looks like you have 'Struts' instead of shocks on your XJ. It is a different process that is slightly more complicated. (You'll need more specialized tools.) The rear shocks will still be the same though.

    Nice Vid. plain and simple, I am going to try and install them without taking the front tires off. The top part of the shock on mine go up into the frame under the hood. 1995 YJ. Wrangler..

    Its rough. I find that shocks w/ the metal sleve work best. But like you said, bad things can happen to anything.

    Gotta 94 YJ. Is there anyway to do this with only the factory jack? Will that little thing get the frame up that high?

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  Před 10 lety

      Ya, you can. As long as the tire comes off, you can finish the job.

      Thinking of purchasing a 94 YJ today. Will be my first wrangler. Yours still on the road?

    Is that it to putting shocks on? First jeep owner and have been replacing and fixing things, shocks are a must before winter hits. I've done a lot of manual work myself on ever vehicle I've owned, I like the know how, but still far from anybody to give out advice on auto work. Time frame for front shocks? And how much more difficult is it to the rear, if at all any more difficult? Thanks for the video.. Haynes manual and CZcams have helped me in many ways

    Don't you need the Amazon metric wrench set? ? The one you show a link to is not metric. I just picked up my first Jeep , and was looking to replace the shocks so I was looking for a tool set. Didnt know Jeeps were metric.

    I'm trying to do this to my 1992 XJ... You know if it's similarly simple? My too bolts come through the fender underneath the good I noticed...

    Its hit or miss with the sleeve on or off... I just bought bad ass Bilstein 5100 shocks for my TJ, the shocks come with the sleeve. After 2 months of winter. Theres a nice ring of corrosion under the sleeve. WTF. You never win with shocks.

    My shocks didn't rise on their own. I had to pull them up. What did I do wrong?
