My thoughts on 10 Fragrances featuring the May Rose or Rose Centifolia since we are in May. May Rose or Rose Centifolia or Grasse Rose/Provence Rose or Cabbage Rose is only cultivated in the month of May around 4/5 weeks and used in Perfumes. They smell so so good, I love the smell of Roses baking under the sun and the heat amplifies the smell so much it can become intoxicating. Do you enjoy May Rose Fragrances? I've known about Grasse and Rose de Mai forever, since my Dad went to Grasse when he was in the Navy back in the 50's. He always talked about the incredible fragrance wafting through the air.. He brought my Mom a bottle of Joy, and it was the only perfume she ever wore. I'm lucky enough to have a dear friend with a place in Nice so I have been to Grasse a few times. I also took my daughters and did a few perfume factory tours with them. My Mom died last year at the age of 90, and when I was dismantling her belongings, I found the original little black bottle with the red cap my Dad had bought her. Needless to say, I wept happy tears.

I love rose! It's my favorite scent in perfumes. I wear it to bed and use rose water and rosehips oils in my skincare. I grow scented roses in my garden and I grew up enjoying rose in sweets. It's both soothing and intoxicating to me. I think I own more Bulgarian rose based scents but I don't discriminate against the lovely Rose de Mai.
A fantastic topic and good timing as so many of us gardeners are currently planting roses. Some rose themed perfumes that I’ve been wearing lately: Love Kills / MM, Radical Rose /Matière Première, Rose + Incense / Tauer, Ballet Rouges /Olympic Orchids. 🥀
Love Diptyque eau Rose edp. I almost get a soft suede accord after a couple hours. So beautiful!

The chamomile note which I normally hate in perfume gives a lush tea vibe I find. It smells better in the dry down which is interesting for a topnote-centric fresh rose perfume.

However, Un Coeur en Mai EdP is my favourite rose fragance. ❤️❤️

I’m living in Mougins, super close to Grasse. When the rose are blooming it’s just soooo beautiful, the sent is amazing 😻 and now we have the jasmine as well

Nice rose collection. Cabbage Rose makes sense because it’s such a big, full flower. I love those roses.

I struggle quite a bit with rose in perfume. at one point I ordered every rose scent sample I could get my hands on to see if I could find ONE that I'd like that didn't fall into that "jammy" category. I ended up with Intense Roses Musk which is arguably more musk than it is rose but I can at least tolerate it. I don't know what put me off rose so long. in my eternal iris search I also ended up with Lipstick Rose and I must say I find it to be perfect except I wish it lasted a bit longer or was more intense. either way, I think those are my two roses outside the jam realm. your videos helped to guide me a lot!
I have a sample of the Rose Prick from Tom Ford. It's a nice note of rose that comes forward immediately but the rose isn'ta strong finish, rather does finish more of the patchouli. Great video, thank you.
Rose and oud are my all time faves in a fragrance. I loooove Les sables roses and Rose prick. But one of my faves is Rose D’arabie by Armani Prive. That’s amaaaaaazing 👌🏻🌹

Tobacco Rose is definitely an interesting one! It smells nothing like a normal rose fragrance and I love that about it

Check out Matiere Premiere Radical Rose. It’s a Rose Patchouli with saffron, pepper berries, and labdanum, featuring Rose de Mai that Aurélien Guichard grows on his own organic farm. So good!

Thank you Sebastian. Rose is the queen of all the flowers. I love love rose water. I own La Colle Noir perfume and body crème and I love it. The more rose a perfume has, the better. Give me a vintage rose perfume anytime and I will wear it🌹❤️.

love new Eau Rose from Diptyque. great scent for layering with something sweeter!! i did with Seminalis from Orto Parisi
My favorite rose perfumes : Rose tonnerre by Frederic Malle and Blouse by YSL. But I’m not sure what kind of rose they used to create them.

I have Miss Dior rose n' roses and Jo Malone Red Roses cologne. Jo Malone is my most favorite, it has a motorcycle vibe and a leather jacket.
I must get my nose on the Papillon Tobacco 🌹; the contrast intrigues me n MFK n Givenchy as well🙏🏿😊
I visited Grasse 4 years ago. Amazing to see How they make the perfumes. Bought one with Verbena citrus, Lavendel and one rose. I am going to Provence in August, Maybe I should rent a car and go there again. I love this area in France. Just 3 h flight time fem Stockholm, Sweden.
Rosa Novella by Santa Maria Novella is based on Rose de Mai. It’s a stunner.
It took me a while to enjoy rose but now I love it. I tend to like rose and oud together but enjoy some fresh ones too. I should try the dior.

Have you smelled Dior's Miss Dior Rose Essence? It's Demachy's last with Dior now that Kurkdijan is taking over. It's a rosewater with geranium and wood. It's quite spicy and masculine, I think.

Shout out to Rose de Mai by Dame Perfumery. It’s in their solinotes collection. It’s not quite my style bc of the spiciness but I do find it beautiful.

Hi Seb! I recently got a Dior rose skincare item, and am obsessed with that smell- it’s a delicious creamy rose. So I’m here to ask the guru, any recommendations on this rose category? 🌹
I know those skin care items from Dior with that gorgeous rose essence. I used to wear the 1 minute face mask and loved it. I even used the face wash too pricey but gorgeous stuff for sure!! :)
I guess I'd start with the La Colle Noire as it's all related so most likely they would use the same roses but it's not as light of a smell as the skincare is! Much more essence or smell for sure. Get a sample and see what you think. You can also try the Louis Vuitton I mention in my video.

Try getting a sample of rose gipsy by Dior is pretty close to their skincare rose, but the skin care one has a tiny bit of white musk. I think that if you layer it with a musk you’ll get quite close.

Have you smelled Rose de Grasse by Aerin Lauder for women? I really like this one and would love to hear your thoughts about it. The notes per Fragrantica are Watery Notes and Ambrette (Musk Mallow), French Rose and Bulgarian Rose, Musk, Woody Notes and Amber. 🥰

Yeah, the MFK à la Rose is just a big nothing burger. I love rose, and I love may rose. The dry down is just I may as well spray on a bunch of rosewater. Glad I did not spring for this one.
