- Hello my fellow readers!
Wow, this is my first video at my new place that does not have to do anything with moving and ngl, this video and the entire content in it was a challenge.
I will definitely try to paint the book edges in another video with different books and hopefully will have improved till then.
If you enjoyed this type of video as in, me doing smth that is related to books that I have never done before, then feel free to comment some other bookish related challenges that I should try out!

YOUR 'IMAGINE' VOICE-OVERS WHILE YOU ARE DOING THINGS ARE FK AMAZING.
I’ve done this with a few of my books so lemme walk you through my process if anyones interested:
1) pick which book u want to do and have a clear idea of what you want to paint
2) u can only use acrylic paint. Don’t try to use watercolor or sharpie/pen to add details
3) make sure you keep the book pressed tightly the whole time until the paint dries. (Mine was stacked between the biggest books I had with something heavy on top like hand weights, a hefty mug, etc.)
4) don’t put your tape directly on the cover because it can damage the book (I used pieces of paper folded over the edge then put the tape where it was only touching the paper. This helps make sure the paint doesn’t deep through and you’re less likely to damage the book)
5) give it plenty of time to dry. Make sure you leave it pressed for a few hours, otherwise the paint could deep into the pages, further damaging the book
6) don’t lay the paint on too thick because it will take forever to dry and can also bleed more into the pages
7) after it dries, flip through the book page by page, carefully separating clumps that are grouped together. This helps keep the book from warping or becoming unreadable if the paint sticks the pages together

YEAH i kind of should have thought it more through but am I even madita when i think? no
i did all this and it turned out alright (i mean i like it a lot lol, i tried it for the first time today with a pretty old book of mine) but the painted edges had a bit of white residue on them, and the paint slightly came off in those places. is this normal/or due to my old book/or did i do smth wrong? i'd appreciate any tips, really wanna keep doing this :D
@@tehelea the white residue (from my experience) is either a) because the book has deckled edges meaning the pages aren’t all even on the edge or b) your brush may be too rough for the pages. Don’t use a sponge brush or anything too coarse, and make sure you’re using long, smooth strokes. Short/Fast strokes can lead to stripping the edge of the pages and clumping the paint. @@ashbrovin4316 ahh ty! so no deckled edges, it most likely was due to my brush and technique then. makes sense. i had no idea which one to use, so i got the most basic one i still had at home lying somewhere (no idea what they're called but according to a google search i just did: i used a round and rigger one) which paint brush do you use/which one would you recommend?

If u ever broke a page, what i do is put silicone with my finger, like little taps w the glue on the cut, and then when it drys, doing it again for the other side, and at the end it looks normal again :D

omggg ive been wanting to do this to my books but havent yet out of fear of failing and ruining my books. saw someone do it with spray paint and think i may try that so i can have thin paint coats i really want it to look professional!!

OKAY okay hear me out, what if using spray paint as the base color and clump it really hard? and instead of putting the tapes on the edges, what about using paper first, Wrap it like a plastic cover and then use the masking tape to stick the paper underneath the cover like on the inside? and then clump it really really hard when painting the art design????

u should paint with water colors not acrylic paints! so it wont stick together and also u can draw the books with paint pens it will give u wayy more control but this was sooo much fun to watch
