- The USC Thornton Chamber Singers and Concert Choir joined forces to perform "Lullaby" by Ryan Murphy on November 6, 2015. Jo-Michael Scheibe, conductor, and Aram Arakelyan, piano. Recorded at The Parish of St. Matthew, Pacific Palisades.
One year ago today I performed this beautiful piece with my district chorus, and yesterday should have been my final concert with them, but it did not happen due to covid. This song has me really tearing up and remembering what was.
And I am blessed and calmed by this beautiful lullaby. I had need of that today. Thank you
What a beautiful setting for Eugene Field's poem
The stars are twinkling in the skies,
The earth is lost in slumbers deep;
So hush, my sweet, and close thine eyes,
And let me lull thy soul to sleep.

Lee’s Davis (below) has gifted us the words to this beautiful poem - but the music - 😭 - the music - was composed by Ryan Murphy of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in response to the horror of Sandy Hook - 😭 - something THIS beautiful took everything ounce of compassion out of him to answer - let’s pray we’re never questioning that ‘ability’ - ever again! 🙏😞😭🙏😞
I believe, if I am correct, that Ryan Murphy attended Sandy Hook....
