I know G Dragon had some issues with the censorship laws prior to the Fantastic Baby M/V.. At one point due to a concert where he was accused of lewd conduct at a public event. If found guilty he could have faced huge fines and even prison time (10 years max) I'm not 100 percent sure, but I kind of think that rattled him a bit, and was thus one of the main reasons for the theme of the M/V. I started following Kpop just about the time Big Bang was in the middle or end of their rookie year. I didn't really notice their music first though, as a new group at that time called SS501 caught my attention first. But, over the past 10 years, Big Bang has become my all time favorite Kpop group. They are indeed the Kings of Kpop and always will be.
To be fair, you reacted to Big Bang. They're all incredibly fashion forward. Aesthetics are part of their image so they always serve looks. There aren't any girl groups on that level aesthetically. 2NE1 were their label mates. Missing You is a ballad and not their best song (still good) but that's as close as it gets re wardrobe, hair and styling. React to BlackPink - Whistle though! Same label. yeah i know you guys are new to kpop and see this just as an interesting concept ,but This video actually has a ton of personal symbolism for the members of the group. They went through a rough patch in 2011 (the year before this came out) where they dealt with a lot of individual issues. G-Dragon (the guy with the super long red hair at the beginning) tested positive for marijuana, which is a huge deal in South Korea, and can end you up in jail, and is symoblized by the black on his lips midway through the video. Daesung, the guy with the short white hair chained to the wall, was involved in a car accident, where he hit a drunk motorcyclist who ended up dying, so he spent a lot of time on trial and isolated, symbolized by both him being chained to the wall and being surrounded by the broken, smoking cars later. Seungri, the one being pawed at by the latex-clad women, got into a sex scandal in Japan that landed him in a lot of trouble for a while and earned him a reputation as somewhat of a sexual deviant, symbolized by the women all over him. While this was all going on, T.O.P, the blue haired guy, spent his time doing modeling and acting jobs, symbolized by him standing in the picture frames and in various outfits. The last member of the group, Taeyang, the shirtless one who started out the video frozen, did nothing, and I believe the thawing out is symbolic of him coming out of that stasis to join the group again. Over all of that, the video has the backdrop of "Stop Music," being representative of the very large amount of people that, for their various transgressions, were calling for the group to disband throughout the whole of 2011. People were saying that G-Dragon was a drug addict, and that Daesung was a murderer, and that Seungri was a pervert, and that none of them worthy of being in the public eye. The riot police symbolize this public outcry for the end of their careers. Meanwhile, the white masked rioters represent their fans, that spent that whole period defending them and supporting them, fighting against those that wanted the group dissolved. My favorite part of the video is, actually, the part where Daesung is falling backwards in the field of broken cars, and the fans catch him. At the end, when all the masked fans pull of their masks, it's the group saying that, to them, their fans aren't faceless, and they appreciate what we've done for them.
