CPR makes this piece come alive again. I never thought I would enjoy it without a Rickenbacker, but my mind has been changed! Fabulous guitar work Mr. Pevar!
There were other videos that someone decided was infringing copyrights so youtube warned me and then cancelled my old account and everything was taken down. Someone with lawyers didn't like them, I guess. It's strange because to me, these videos promote art. It's not like anyone is making money here. It's like tapers at concerts. It promotes art. But what are you going to do. I'm happy that you tube exists and hopefully these will remain here for quite some time. Thanks for checkin em out. JP
Truly appreciate the fact that these are posted for viewing.. (lawyers be damned..).. Such "magic" and special moments... Yes, these sessions and the music you all made together is so very special.. ❤👍... Thank you for it.. ❤ PS- I loved when the vhs taped show aired on PBS... (late '90's or early '00's)... Stay safe, and be well.., Sincerely, Rich Gleichmann
What was THAT ???!!! Blew me away ! And I have heard and played ( as a bassist in several bands ) many a verison of this classic. But to hear you guys do it this way is pure magic !!
Wow! The band was really happy with this. David Crosby enjoying Jeff Pevar's playing. Everybody smiling. I like that pause at the end as the song finishes, that moment when one of the camera men was in view. And, once again, Jeff plays in the mode that his lead artist sets up, adding instrumental brilliance without stealing the song. What a musical tribute to the relationship of the artists.
Sabrina Rood Yeah, I asked David a few weeks ago, and they have no plans of reuniting. "Not at Present"...really sad...they had a good thing in that band...it was as hot as CSN
Funny enough, this is my favorite "distinct" guitar solo of all time. The phrasing is just right on everything and this one really stays in your head for days. I keep coming back to this video time and time again.
This is amazing talent and great to observe and listen to David Crosby authenticity loving life on his own terms. Sadly the Cros recently passed away leaving a Rich legacy of his music , talent and Pure love. Pop Love. During this period of David's life he found out he was the Father of a young man known as James Ramond. When son and father meet for their first time , David Crosby was surprised to find out his son having no knowledge of who was his biological father was had major talent in his own right. A great video and thanks for sharing.
Man, everything about this is KILLER! This is a great song in it's own right, but the groove these guys have put to it just makes ya wanna move your feet man! Fantastic rendition!
crazy magic, pure brilliance...even the first 20 seconds is supernatural....i bet God probably sits up there in the heavens counting off his accomplishments with a big smile: earth, light, heaven, sound and yes, musicians that can pull something like this off :)
Thank you. My experiences with Croz are some of my most cherished memories..... we had such incredible experiences... miss him terribly ...almost a year since he has passed...
i worked with a guy ...joel soderberg...that set me straight...one day at work i i was bragging about my csn experiences...and he said....dave you can stop now...cause i was at 4 way street....csny...10 th row center...in chicago....back in the day...and then he added insult to injury...and said that he saw the allman brothers at the fillmore east ...in 70...and after that moment..i had such respect 4 him....so dave ...shut up and sit down.....
David, you are the best and you have the best - - - may God bless you with long life and a story of inspiration. Jeff, I cannot express feelings about God's precious gift too you.
Robert, wow... First this video is 20 years old. But beyond that how very nice of you to chime in with your supportive and eloquent comments! We will happily take note of these informative comments to assist us in our endeavors from here on in!
Jeff Pevar Jeff thanks so much for these great vids. David is solo now, or seems to be, but this phase, this band, is classic. Plus, takes nerve to try Eight Miles High, the original was so intense.
Knuckleheads, Peeve. Nothing better to do than be keyboard warriors. People don't have the kind of appreciation of art and artistry that they used to. I think we can thank the internet for that. But, at the same time, we can also thank the internet for allowing people that do still have that unique appreciation to experience all of the art they can handle anytime, and anywhere, and it allows us to have a way of reaching out to the creating artists in ways that were not really possible before the turn of the millennium. I like to count myself among the latter, and want to take this opportunity to tell you what an inspiration you've been to me as a musician. Your playing style has always intrigued me and I get a creative boost every time I hear your work. Thanks a billion for the music!
If David never wrote another song, we owe him a debt of gratitude for turning us on to YOU, James, Becca Stevens, and Michelle Willis. Thank you sir. I know you guys are doing the Lighthouse/ Sky Trails lineups, but I'd love to hear some more of this explosive lineup!!
Jeff you are a really great artist.......l remember you guys in a wonderful concert here in italy near the town where I live 20 years ago. I spoke to croz
Agreed!! They made the ensemble better than it could have been, had they not added their incredible musicianship to it! Very grateful for every opportunity to play or even see them. My brothers!!
Jeff, your comments on video availability are right on. Any music, especially CPR, that you see fit to post is welcome to these ears. Thank you so much. Hope you are touring with CSN this summer. If so, see you in Boston.
As David stated...its very rare.....when a band comes together...with one motive.....to play it like no one has ever done it before..and i {David} seem to know how to spot this situation...when it happens...and i spotted it here...and im probably the luckiest person on this earth....cause my son is one of the musicians...in the band....David...you have allways had...a way with words...which is evident here...
@Peevmania....Your info is not quite right. This is footage from the dutch TV program called "2 meter sessions "and is recorded in 1998. The setting is the abandoned headquarters of police in the dutch city of Hilversum....... Just my two cents...
Hey Peev, Thanks so much for putting all these great vids up on youtube.. You remain a great guitar influence to me.. (I'll never forget standing at the front watching CPR @ the Jazz Cafe London) All the best, and thanks again for the positive feedback on my music on Myspace. Cheers from the UK! Graham
You guys were on fire that day here in the Netherlands! The Twee Meter Sesies as this show was called, had 100's of bands and solo musicians, but this performance is my all time favourite! Too bad the next show 1 or 2 years later was plagued with all sorts of technical problems and I believe there is no recording from that year. One question will come to mind though, will we have get a new CPR album? I would hope so and many fans with me.
Who'da thunk..???. Take an iconic...psychadelic song...and turn it into a jazz/rock monster. Well ...the roots of the song were born in raga and Coltrane. So its only fair it got a classic remake. Having recently found this (how did i miss it)i feel my musical listening pleasure has been deprived for the last 20 years. Better late than never i guess.

@@peevmania jeff no worry. You look great. You dont look old to me and had u not mentioned your dying your hair I would never had guessed. I do love your guitar playing! Would love to hear you alone. Will check out more of your videos. You're fantastic!
Dragforce92. I respect your comment. I never thought I would like a cover of this song because it's so linked to a Rickenbacker but Mr. Pevar and the group does an incredible job. McGuinn used a 12 string Ricky and Crosby a 6 string Gretsch typically. They always had a difficult time playing live and making it well done however, interestingly a problem carried over by Crosby Stills and Nash. Studio good, live not so good.
Hi Jeff! My brother Phil and I had a trio In Newport Beach in the late seventies. John Ferraro was our drummer. One night he had another gig and sent his student "this kid" Stevie D. to sub- he was 16. We went on to play and record with this incredible human for many years, we called him "Fondue" because he was so smooth! I had the pleasure of seeing you guys at The Grove in Anaheim. Is it bad style to respond to yourself from 10 yrs ago? I just commented about this song version in another video and had to come back here for a re-listen. Hearing this version and watching you guys play it makes me happy even 10 yrs later after I first heard it!
Look... Crosby co-wrote the damn song. He's got full authority to cover and express "HIS" song any fucking way he likes. Carbon copy covers are for sad little rocker wannabes. This most certainly IS "Eight Miles High"... by the man himself with a crew of phenomenal musicians backing him.
6ixtymiles He most certainly did NOT write this song. By all accurate accounts Eight Miles High wss written entirely by the late Gene Clark and the late Brian Jones. Crosby wrote at most one line of this song, then called it his own. Granted, David is the best high harmony singer ever bestowed on rock music but like the rest of CSNY, they were perfect sh*t s in multiple and enduring ways.
