I dislike how some people are saying that the new guy is better, I haven't heard him but Ben Is the one who inspired me to start learning and I hope I can be as good as him someday u rock Ben
Now i'm not one to talk because ive only been playing acoustic for about 2 months now but you don't need to know much to be skilled. the guitarist who focuses on the sound he/she makes wrather than "skill shown" then that it self will get them far. now ive been doing magic for 6 years and guitar is some what close because behind the sound theres a whole step by step it doesn't matter on how. it's the sound. nff said.
All you haters out there must be into those "how many notes can you fit into a sec" type bands......Yeah. That's real talent. Artists that can do do that type of soloing DO NOT impress people. Ben Kasica and I had the opportunity to talk about his style at a show we did in Tampa. He has a classical background, which is VERY DIFFICULT to master. So incorporating classical into what is Skillet, IS impressive. Soul, people. That is what makes a solo worth listening to.
Ben left Skillet I knew it would happen one day because he is soooooo good he could make it on his own but I think he totally raised the bar for the rest of the guitar players that join Skillet. Ben thanks for the time you spent with Skillet, Seth the new guitar player I know you'll be great to so good luck and thanks for joining Skillet, and Ben thanks to you ARE the king of guitar and if you don't get into the rock hall of fame or something like that there WILL be problems!!!!!!!
His harmonics are so crisp! Everything about that solo was killer. I have seen them live with Ben, and I saw them live just the other day and I will tell you, they are not quite the same. The new guitarist is really good, but he missed some key things that Ben would have nailed. Awesome solo!
@Derrick7777777 Yea, a PRS SE Singlecut. I plan on getting a Tremonti model one day but can't afford one yet. My primary guitar though, is a Schecter S-1 Elite.
@Derrick7777777 Yea, no wonder why Tremonti has improved so much since his 2001. The dvd is awesome. Tremonti shows how to play all of the solos from Alter Bridge's "Blackbird" album along with tons of different exercises he uses to improve his playing.
@gbsons well i didn't actually say i didn't appreciate it, wasn't dissing the video, just reponding to your comment that was in response to kitchenkreek's comment. you implied we would HAVE to know who this person is if they're better than kasica, which is simply not true. i don't wanna play only flashy solos either but, i mean thats actually kinda my point: LOTS of guitartists can play like that but dont pull no-band solos like that because they don't see the point in it
Man. I can't get over how he is just killing that guitar. It's amazing. I love it and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Be will be dearly missed. :)

I will get a Tremonti one day, but I think the next guitar I may get will be a Schecter Synyster Custom (I like Synyster Gates' guitar and it's a lot cheaper than a Tremonti). The Tremonti will have to wait until I can afford one.

Is he the best. No. But 99.9% of people that play guitar aren't the best. So if I get over a perfectionist ego trip I can appreciate someone just playing, like this dude. I think playing guitar should be fun. Plus he glorifies god while he's at it. So, thumbs up!
His improvising seems more put together than Seth Morrison's. I'm not saying that Seth is bad, but Ben seems a little more tasty and less reliant on flash.
@Derrick7777777 Oh yea man. If I was half as good as Tremonti, I'd be satisfied with my playing. Tremonti practices about 6 hours a day, everyday. Did you ever happen to see his guitar dvd? There's a lot of good stuff on there.
@Derrick7777777 Agreed, Mark Tremonti is insane. When it comes to technique and pure skill, he's definitely within the top 5 or so modern rock guitarists. He's the reason why I started playing guitar back 9 years ago. As for Ben, he's good but he's got nothing on Tremonti.
@skilletdrummer12 well THATS some better logic i can respect yes, sounding cool and skilled playing are two different things, and sounding cool is its own skill i can respect THAT. i'm not even saying i have anything against the guy just, ppl are more impressed with his playing then they need to be, thats all. if someone thinks this is impressive playing they've never heard a real guitar player outside of big shows like this their entire life...its NORMAL average level skill for a player his age

I highly doubt Ben is playing to his full potential.C. You write what pays the bills. And Ben is an accomplished songwriter. Plus he has his own studio(Skies Fall Studios). I don't doubt there are people ten times better than Ben. But you should still appreciate that each guitarist has his own style.

You are so far off. There are so many bands that AREN'T signed because they are christian. Christian bands typically don't see as much fame as a secular band would.
