  • Everly Brothers Show is a live album by close harmony rock and roll duo The Everly Brothers, released in 1970.
    The Everly Brothers Show was a one-hour musical variety show on the ABC television network. It began as a summer replacement in 1970 for The Johnny Cash Show. Warner Bros. Records released a double LP at the same time, but the album was not a soundtrack to the TV series.
    It was re-issued as a double CD set by Collector's Choice Records in 2005.

    Wow!! Well, that was different. Proves just how versatile they could be. Although, to be honest, it seemed like Don was totally into it and Phil was along for the ride hanging on for dear life. Doesn’t quite seem like Phil’s style but still - what a great video clip. Such a total departure from their usual. It was kind of like they were saying: “Hey, we’re more than just ‘Wake Up, Little Susie’ and ‘Bye, Bye Love’.” I would have loved to hear them do all of “Aquarius” and “If I Were a Carpenter” - the little teasers they did were wonderful. Kudos to the drummer for his percussion work in this medley, too. He was really fabulous.

      @v-g-z3689 Před 2 lety +2

      I agree! I don´t know if they performed it in any of their conerts but they played it on The Everly Brothers Show that was a summer fill in for the Johnny Cash Show in 1970. This medley to me looks like something Don started off, cause as you said, it doesn´t seem to be Phils style so much, but I think an average audience who knew less about them wouldn´t notice. Awesome performance anyway! By the way, the drummer is Al "Tiny" Schneider, 1/3 of their band at the time, "The Tabernacle Three".

    Always saddened me when The Everly Bros. and Ricky Nelson dumped their true personnas in attempts to stay relevant to the times. In my opinion they never made it. Still all time greats but they weren't hippies and never could be.

      rosmia2 I think this is a brilliant clip and I love their performance - they are not even trying to be Hippies lol. The Evs continued to diversify right until they made their final studio recording. The trouble was the public - they only wanted them to do the old stuff - so their new stuff never got the appreciation it deserved.

    Surprise, surprise! This was considered “hard rock” at the time? Really? Not that it matters, but, Don was more into this number than Phil... somehow it just didn’t seem his thing. Crazy time the 70’s. Did anyone notice how the light shows a very smudged guitar Don was playing? In all the video’s I’ve been watching their guitars always appearing pristine. Again, not that it matters...😉
