He has undeniable flow, but I'll try and break it to you diehard fans easy; this is not what the hip hop industry needs right now. The industry is already oversaturated with artists who can communicate bars on overly bouyant and overly produced beats about money, clothes, hoes, sex, and... adderall? Truth is, his godflow is not hard to come by nowadays(not undermining his skillz or promoting mine since they are nonexistent). Godflow is getting old and it aint hard to flip your hood up take a hit. Granted some are better are this type of trap music, it is all the same: mainstream. Beats on records are literally getting recycled and we call them "samples" *mindblown. So what does the industry need then? Well, we need conscientious rappers; we need people to uphold Nas, Biggie, and 2Pac's legacy of meaningful lyrics highlighting the plight of the ghettos. Kendrick Lamar did this and he still spoke about success in manner more creative and unique than same old "money, hoes, and drugs" mantra. Many of you only know of GKMC by Kendrick. Boy are you missing out. Do youselves a favor and check out Overly Dedicated and Section 80 by him. This dude was never the pop-hiphop type; he was a mature lyricist from the get-go straight outta Compton. He is like the prodigal son of the three rappers previoulsy mentioned (not a homosexual or homophobic comment). Kendrick paints vivid and almost disturbing pictures of life in the hood. He has subject matter. He has a story. Jay-Z was like this too before he became a sellout. I cannot say the same for Chris Webby, who having grown up in suburban Connecticut, doesn't have much to rap about. So in retrospect, I don't blame him for the "money hoes drugs" thing. After all, don't we all have the green in our eyes sometimes? I just wrote a fricken paper lol. Really just came to say that this stuff, though brutally catchy, is not real real real real hip-hop/rap. Look to K-Dot, J-Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Chance the Rapper, Eminem(especially young Eminem), then of course da big three; Nas Tupac Shakur, and Biggie Smalls. These guys is real rap niggas. No not over commercialized Drake, controversial Kanye, swaggie 2chainz, risque Hannah Montana(oops Miley Cyrus), or sadly, modern Jay-Z. They don't even compare. They are not nearly as meticulous in lyricism as they need to be in hop/hop to garner Nas level respect. J-Cole has collaborated with with Nas, Jay-Z with Kendrick, Eminem with Tupac. Those niggas are worthy. They earned that shit.
