Commissions that allow the buyer to choose color, subject matter, temporary location... are called, 'contractual works.'
*Contract work is a 'provincial' version of your artwork that does not actually represent your actual art. It's a legally disposable "collaboration" between the artist and the buyer.
*Genuine 'commissions' are of the artists current body of work without expectations from the artist other than creating his current his/her art work, and allowing the buyer to first view and procure the original art work.
2-4 hours for a portrait!? that is on portrait artist of the year the competition gameshow right?!!
I worked on 40 hours for detail portraits. It took be 4 days to finish but it produces a fine result.
That's brilliant advice, thank you
Great video. Does the size of the painting matters at all in pricing? Thanks so much. Blessings and take care.
The size of the painting will likely change how much time it takes to complete a painting. Larger painting = more space to fill = more time to make. Also, a larger painting could have higher costs too, which you would want to factor into the price, since you would be using more paint and a larger substrate. Hope that helps! ~ Daniel
@@evolveartist Daniel, thanks so much for your reply. I truly appreciate it.
@@crisalidathomassie1811 my pleasure! 😊 ~ Daniel
So the slow painter should be paid more than the faster painter.. got it
The lawyer who makes $100/hr should get paid more than the artist who quit their job at Walmart… got it
