    His double scored their 7th run with a double that got Rizzo to third. Miguel Montero singled for their 8th run. They won 8-7. He didn't hit the winning hit. Still love you tho Benny. He hit like a monster the whole series.

    • @l4nd3r
      @l4nd3r Před 7 lety +1

    • @michaelscott9040

      Paul Schoessling i think his hit was more important...it's just how the cubs played it this series....it's all about momentum with the cubs.

    • @ah1106onps3
      @ah1106onps3 Před 7 lety +4

      Ok his hit was gigantic and undoubtedly the most important hit of that inning at gave overall them the lead and momentum but the by that point their closer, Chapman, was out of the game by that point. The Giants proved they were capable scoring a run off of the other Cubs relievers in the bottom of the tenth. Montero's RBI single with the bases loaded was the hit that scored the run that won them the game, therefore, it's technically the winning run. Zobrist won the World Series MVP trophy for the entire series and that double was the game changer. Miguel Montero deserves more love tho.

    • @ah1106onps3
      @ah1106onps3 Před 7 lety +3

      Greg Houghton I literally am only trying to say that you need to credit Miguel Montero as well b/c he is not mentioned in the video. The 3rd string catcher who came up with a few huge hits off the bench in the playoffs despite not getting time over Ross and Contreras came up clutch again for the team and I think he deserves more love. We all watched the same damn game. I'm not trying to take credit away from Zobrist and I definitely don't need the semantics of where credit is due.

    • @ry.the.stunner
      @ry.the.stunner Před 7 lety +3

      Wrong. A "winning run" is officially credited to the player who drives in the run that puts the team up for good. Miguel Montero's single was considered an "insurance run" and was important, but Zobrist's run is officially considered the winning RBI.

    • @paultanner7671

      Source? In hockey game-winning goal is an actual stat and it's awarded to whoever scores what ends up being the deciding goal. So if you score to make it 4-2, then they make it 4-3, your 4th goal is the GWG.

      that's not how the official scoring works. game winning rbi is credited with the rbi that originally puts them in the lead.

  • @ry.the.stunner
    @ry.the.stunner Před 7 lety +1

    If you don't understand the rules of baseball, keep your comments to yourself.
    A "Game Winning RBI" is officially credited to the player who drives in the run that puts a team up for good without them relinquishing the lead. While Miguel Montero's RBI was important, Ben Zobrist's is officially considered the game-winning RBI.
    If Montero doesn't get an RBI and they go to the bottom of the 10th with only a 1-run lead, the entire bottom half of the inning can change. For one, if the Cubs are only up by 1 in the bottom of the 10th, they wouldn't have let Brandon Guyer steal 2nd base to get into scoring position, so that run that Cleveland scored may have never happened.

    • @AmandaW-nb1fd
      @AmandaW-nb1fd Před 9 měsíci

      Exactly. Situations in any sport change on preceding events. The bottom of the 10th does not play out the same way if the Cubs were only up one and not two. Fans in all sports make this mistake/assumption all the time. Any game is fluid, especially baseball. Edwards Jr would probably have thrown completely different pitches with a one run lead than a two run lead.

    Zobrist's double DID NOT win the World Series for the Cubs. It was Montero's rbi single that followed Zobrist's double that won it for the Cubs. Montero made it 8-6 in the tenth and the Indians scored one in the bottom half to make it 8-7.

  • @rviles2323
