Why Last Epoch Can't Throw More Servers At The Problem

Last Epoch is going through one of the worst game releases we've seen in a long time. The game has been out for half a week and many players are still being kicked or waiting multiple minutes to load into a new area.
While it's impossible to say for sure what the issue is, this video will dive into what issues could be taking place and why Last Epoch can't throw more servers at the problem.

Super happy this was helpful! I was thinking this could be a fun little way to show some system design without being too lecture-y. I've heard the Last Epoch dev team will be publishing a post mortem so I'm excited to see what I got right along with everything I got completely wrong.

Sounds like their devs never heard about load balancing. Also hopping between servers per query kinda useless, since it drastically increase response latency, so it might be not true they do that.

I'm sure they have heard about load balancing but the game was built up over many years where their maximum users was 1/10th what it was on launch day. Granted, this isn't an excuse to not have the game ready when they officially launch it, but things do happen.

It’s not even just their servers that are garbage, if you play offline there’s multiple quests that can bug out and lock progress. It’s overall has a good core but utterly destroyed by developer incompetence.

Oh interesting, I haven't ran into that issue myself. I did hit some issues where I had to portal back and forth to unlock a gate, which was annoying, but kind of a reasonable bug in my mind. Sorry you didn't have a great experience :(

tldr their server sucks just play offline or just refound unistall and play PoE

been back to PoE, I said heck I cant deal with it, game will be there(hopefully) in future with less problems.
