    I like the video on this. it's hands down the best real time on location how to cast a centerpin reel in HD. I'll put one of your reels on the someday list...

    I use a bobber setup, we call it the bug and bubble setup. We will use a float, and a two to three fly setup on about a 10 1/2 ft leader. Using anywhere Between a 9 1/2 to 13 ft float rod.

      I live in southern oregon, ive been fishing the rogue all my life almost strictly for steelhead. I was just wondering on the leaders if it is harder to cast the longer leader w the centerpin setup. I could go on with questions cause i need a new challenge and the setups you guys use seems to be a lot more personal, i love custom gear, and its time for me to just make the change, i just hope i can get the casting down without backlashing it to many times. Should be fun!

      Hey Randy yeah the longer the "lead" (float to hook) the harder it is to cast. That's why some opt for slip floats. I just like the bait control I get with a fixed float. Call or email Colville outfitters with questions

    How far is it possible to cast with these casts using a common float set-up? Thanks!

  • @ianflyfisher
    @ianflyfisher Před 5 lety +1

    I have a question I'm new to this in alberta fishing Browns if the water is say 7 feet deep should I have 7 feet of line from hook to float or more like 8 ish or 10 feet of line?

    • @colvilleoutfitters3290
      @colvilleoutfitters3290  Před 5 lety

      Typically 7 door hole would be 7 foot from line to presentation all the way to 9 foot depending on how much you are trotting(holding back your float)

  • @randyeggleston7138
    @randyeggleston7138 Před 4 lety +1

    How long are the typical leaders are being used on these centerpin setups?

    • @colvilleoutfitters3290
      @colvilleoutfitters3290  Před 4 lety +1

      The leader is 15-24" fluorocarbon. The Lead is the distance from your float to fly and that's all depth dependent

    • @randyeggleston7138
      @randyeggleston7138 Před 3 lety

    I am just starting out in the Centerpin 13' river rod realm and I'm an avid fisherman to begin with. For me it's not about catching fish. With life's stress and I have more than others I catch something everytime I venture out.
    I feel your cast techniques is how I will do it naturally, I just wish I could see the pendulum effect as you cast at the around the 1:20 mark when u pull down plumb vertical on the reel while loading the rod r u pulling line off the side in this method?

    • @colvilleoutfitters3290
