Yes, but, it's so rewarding to make that walk and feel that it's an accomplishment....even if it is just a community college. Most kids can do that much. If they really wanted to... Heck, I did it with two kids and two jobs. To see the look of pride in my kids eyes made it all worth it. And it did make it a tiny bit easier to get a job. A wee bit.
But you can't ever forget how proud you make your family. I'm an immigrant and my cousin later told me how my dad was over the moon, tears in his eyes, that at least one kid made it. He never told me.
Years later, I found out he finished paying my condo.
Totally unexpected. Wow but that made the other kids green eyed monsters. That's how I found out I had dumbasses for siblings....who knew????

Two of the businesses he founded were sold to people who had business degrees from major universities (which this guy seems to think is what makes someone "smart"). The businesses were very profitable when my grandfather sold them, but both were completely bankrupt within 3 years of being sold. My grandfather bought both back for pennies on the dollar, and had both back to were they were before they were sold. Guess those degrees weren't as grand as people think. Besides public schools in the United States of America have nothing to do with education. Public schools in this nation are more about teaching kids to be obedient and learning to conduct their days the way they will once joining the workforce.

Alabama was responsible for the rocket fuel that put man on the moon. Texas was ground control For these missions. Elen Degeneras came from Louisiana. Opra Winfrey was from Mississippi. The list goes on and on. We are not dumb in the southern states. We just know what is important. An IQ test doesn't really tell a persons intelligents. I know people with high degrees that can't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the bottom. I was working in California for a recovery service, man calls and said he is broke down on the side of the road. I got there, looked at the car and discovered it was out of gas. I put some gas in, followed him to a gas station. I had to show a Dr. How to fuel his brand new car. I didn't do it for him, I showed him how. I had to explain everything to this person. Well that was my job. And I am from Alabama. You might say I is bumder thin dirt but I can survive the worst of situations. I am not a rocket scientist but I have made moon shine that would run my car. You can call me dumb, I don't want the headaches northern people have. I didn't mean that to be offencive, it's just life in the southern states is a lot easier. Let someone else figure it out, I'll use it when it's done. I never graduated from high school. However...
    1. I went to high school in Mississippi and had some really great teachers. Provine High School in Jackson Mississippi, which I attended, had one of the highest average SAT scores in the country! I also went to school in Ohio, Arizona and California. From my personal observation, California not only had the dumbest teachers, but the lowest form of education. Where I was doing algebra in the 5th grade in Ohio with fantastic teachers, the kids in California were still adding rows of two-digit numbers in the 8th grade.
    2. I have 18 patents and ran my own high tech engineering firm for 38 years before retiring a multi-millionaire at 71 years old. The only reason I didn't retire earlier was because I loved what I did. I also married a fantastic wife that also hated school who invested our money very wisely.
    3. I was tested three different times to have a genius IQ. So, rating a state by the number of people that graduated, or went to college may not provide worthwhile, useful data on any "dumbness" scale. There are many youths that have brilliant minds who's teachers either bored them or they dwarfed them with their grasp on life.
    4. I'm an author with 5 books on Amazon and other venues. I also write my own patents and patents for other people.
And 5, but not least! Because some people were not born as fortunate to have a certain mental capacity, does not diminish their value on the planet. I believe that one must evaluate people on some scale from intelligent to dumb based on intent from benevolent to malicious, nice to not so nice. Yes, I've had some of the nicest people working for me that could hardly spell their name and fired some of the orneriest smart people that I could have made a lot of money from.
How about doing a video on the states that have the greatest number of issued patents, or the largest number of highly successful entrepreneurs - where they grew up and went to school? Maybe a mathematical ratio of dropouts from high school or college to the number of high school or college graduates by actual income when they reached their 30's or older?
I know many college graduates, some with Phd's that haven't amounted to much more than an average income and a bitter existence, blaming everything wrong about their lives except themselves.
Isn't income and happiness a better gauge by which success (maybe even dumb-assness) is measured anyway?

I am a college graduate who values higher education as the road I chose to determine my career. However, college is not for everybody nor does everyone wants to go. Some of the smartest people in my life never went to college or finished high school. It is just a snobby way of calling people blue collar workers versus white collar. A person's worth, character or value is not measured by a degree. I know farmers with degrees. I know CEOs who never went to college. What a slap in the face to call the people of these states dumb because of the educational system. I think as a whole the US systems stinks regardless of where you live. We need to improve our public schools and make them safe for our children. College prep and vocational classes need to offered. Our students need choices to help them become well rounded adults. We need doctors, auto mechanics, teachers, and HVAC tech's, etc. Every job after high school does not need a college degree. Our children need better opportunities and choices to make it regardless of what path they choose.

How many people in states like Massachusetts would you say got themselves 6 figures in debt so they could land that coveted position as a Starbucks barista? Me, on the other hand, well I got a few trade school certs that I invested about 2 months and $3000 into and make 6 figures working about 8 mo this of the year.

Trade schools are a great alternative to college. I really don't understand why this isn't pushed harder. Everyone doesn't need to go to college to be successful. Plumbers, electricians, etc. can do very well for themselves, and there is a shortage of those professions which is why they are in such demand and make good money. If I weren't inclined to go to college, I'd take up a trade and then open up shop in a wealthy community where people will pay whatever it takes to get a new light fixture installed or toilet unclogged asap.

New Mexico actually has two DOE National Labs: Sandia National Lab and Los Alamos National Lab. Oh.. and this is something you did not mention at all. Huntsville, Alabama is home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, which was one of the first NASA facilities ever built. Wernher von Braun, the chief engineer of the Saturn V rocket, worked there. In addition to NASA, Huntsville also hosts the Redstone Arsenal, which is a major research and development site for the Army. The Arsenal also hosts various other DoD components, such as the Missile Defense Agency. It also hosts the new FBI campus. Naturally, many large defense contractors have a presence in Huntsville, such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, etc.
Needless to say, Huntsville is a hub for some of the best and brightest in the United States. The fact that you didn’t mention it means that you did not do adequate research… You chose to focus almost solely on education statistics. L video.

I've recently travelled, and driven through all of these mentioned states, and 14 more. I cannot believe that California and Florida did not make into the top 10 of this list. I met very many nice people on this trip. Twice this happened, once in Louisiana, and once in Alabama, that some some nice, friendly person spied my British Columbia licence plate, then assumed I was from Colombia. While at a fast food restaurant in Arizona, when I saw that the change I was about to receive was 24 cents, I gave the young man at the till a penny. This greatly confused him. He took the penny, then handed me 2 dimes, and 4 pennies. I then politely explained to him, that the reason I had given him a penny was because, I wanted a quarter, and gave him back the 24 cents. Now this really confused him even more, but slowly he did the math, 24 + 1 = 25. After a few moments I got my quarter, for which I thanked him.

These people still have way better life skills than any other states. Take more blue states with highly ranked education systems and you have a ton of people getting out of college/high school not knowing what to do with themselves. I think our education systems need to better apply the things we learn in school towards life. Also, when a country starts to become more and more liberal it means it is starting to fail and that is backed up by history

@@joelrepass2379 really. Republicans are the ones who have constantly installed trickle down economics to elevate the wealthy and diminish the poor and middle class while blocking legislation for health insurance infrastructure and education. They only thing they consistently support is tax cuts for the wealthy increased funding for the military and raises..... for themselves.

Charles L Jones The fact that you used the term trickle down economics shows you don’t know anything apart from what Democrats have said. If you actually look at the history behind the term trickle down economics it has actually been proven to not be a real thing. Also, the most expensive states to live in are liberal and are areas where the middle class is moving out.

@@joelrepass2379 They might have better life skills but can they make a living out of them? Those skills worth nothing more than minimum wage. There might be a ton of clueless college graduates in blue states but if you look at the bigger picture, the stats show that people from the blue states make more money and have a higher living standard thanks to the better education system than those who live in barns, survive on social programs and make minimum wages.
