In either the late 1980s or early '90s, my band was booked to open up for GG at a show in SOHO NY, at a club called "The bank." SO we drove up from DC, parked near the club, had some great NY pizza, as one member of our band went in to talk details with the club's owner. While inside the club, there was also a guy with a 16mm movie camera who was working on a documentary about Allin. The club owner asked the filmmaker what was so special about this guy, and he spoke about his stage antics. The club owner immediately said "Show's cancelled, that isn't happening in my club!" So we went back home without playing. We had planned to leave right after our set anyway. While waiting in the van, we got to hear one of our songs played on one of those college radio stations on the far left of the dial.

I was working in an independent record store in San Diego in 1990 when GG Allin came to town. We used to go see a lot of free shows back then because the store sold tickets. Some of the other people at the store went, but I hadn't heard anything by GG Allin that would actually make me want to go see him. So I passed. The next day, one of our regulars came in with these brown stains on his shirt. He said "You see THAT?!? That's GG's shit!" I told him he would have to leave because I was pretty sure it was a health code violation to have him in there. I had to think up something because I didn't want this guy walking around the store forcing other people to smell GG's shit. Another guy from a different record store - who was REALLY big - came in and I knew he probably went to the show. So I asked him, "How was it?" He told me he had never been so scared in all his life and gave me all the details. GG came out buck naked except for cowboy boots and then sort of impaled himself on the leg of an overturned chair. He grabbed a woman, smashed her face in his crotch, took a dump and then began throwing it at people. At that point, pandemonium broke out with people running for cover under the pool tables. Then there was a crush at the exit. The cops were quickly called but by the time they arrived, he was gone.
At 2am back in the day in Boston when the clubs would empty out they'd all go to the Pizza Pad and the rockers and disco boys would fight. I was there once when a chair came hurdling towards my head. RIght then a man came and pushed me out of the way. That man was GG. GG Allin saved my life.
