  • This week, we are visiting Toa Payoh West Market & Food Centre (127 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh) for lunch.
Build in 1969, this 2 storey food centre comprises of 40 cooked food stalls on the 2nd floor and 108 market stalls on the 1st floor.
Do note that this is a day hawker centre which means most stalls only open in the morning. By mid afternoon, most stalls would have been closed.
What's interesting is there are 4 'wings' to this hawker centre, each with its own unique stalls.
The closest MRT to this food centre would be Braddell MRT, which still requires about a 6 min walk, making this food centre quite accessible.
    Here's what we tried:
    1. Come Daily Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee - Fried Hokkien Mee ($5 portion).
    2. Da Cheng Kway Chap - Kway Chap Set Meal ($4).
    3. Chey Sua Carrot Cake - Carrot Cake ($3).
    4. Pure Soya Bean - Warm Soya Milk ($1.70).
    5. Uggli Muffins - Box of 12 Muffins ($15).

1969.. I think you meant the original building. This is the 'renovated / upgraded / revamped' one. Which I sort of remember happened in the early 2000s?
