I’m an aging athlete. Lived in an Idaho ski town for the last 42 years. One of the modifications I’ve had to extend my useful life is an ankle replacement. I’m watching your mate blasting around with his foot out and it gives me the heebee geebees. You should tell him to stop that!
Hi Brent, Your the reason as you know that I have a 701 and switched from Enduro to ADV. This video and commentary is outstanding as per nomal and I felt as though I was on the ride with you. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this and for the GPX files and camp spot location, this is on our bucket list Cheers and have a great Christmas Kenny
Loved this one Brent. Combining the front POV and rear POV mixed with the skydio footage brings the viewer right into the ride. Really enjoyable to watch. As usual your skills and story telling are amazing so thanks for all this work.
Another cracking production Brent. Love the sound of the Husky and glad to see no emergency services required on this trip👍
Fantastic Video Brent , You covered and confirmed some areas I really need to visit 👍
Your right about camping in style , makes for a pleasant evening, leaves you fresh and allows for more focus on the adventure the bikes will take you on each day,
Great combo of bikes and riders, bad attitudes and good weather for the perfect brew. You did it again Brent, a top watch.....
Now that's a magic ride! Adding that to the bucketlist
Mate fantastic ride. I love it down there. I'll be doing those two up the lookouts . It looked great.
Sure dig your style creating this vids!
Stunning views, great trails. Nick has a great towing/camping setup there- makes the riding and transport stages so much better.
Beautiful scenery and looked like awesome tracks to ride!
Thanks for sharing, Brent!
Another quality production Brent. Great rides and great videos. Thanks
What dreams are made of for middle aged dirt & adventure riding enthusiasts…unreal. Your mate’s 690 looks awesome btw love that blue livery. Thanks really enjoyed it 👌
Yes, Nick's bike is a work of art. Really lovely looking.
Another great video, great planning, great footage, great edit, great narration, great sound.
Loved every min of it. Tks
Great video, as always, Brent,
Thanks Brent. Some brilliant riding around Wadbilliga and Deua NPs. Stunning scenery and great riding. Thanks for taking us along.
Love your work Brent. Thank you!
Love your work Brent! Great video and those trails looked so nice!! Never been down those parts and it's just made my list now. Looks like it was a blast of a trip and smoother than the last one thankfully!
Thanks for another great video!🇸🇪
Terrific footage Brent. My 9 yo daughter and I love watching your adventures. Makes me home sick - now live in Colorado but from WA - and makes her excited to visit Australia.
You’re mate with his leg hanging off makes me nervous!
Great riding down there, thanks for taking us along 😎
Excellent cinematography Brent, what an adventure. Cheers
Great ride and videography as always. Thanks heaps for sharing the GPX files.👍
Another enjoyable video! Thanks!
Great video! Truly a scenic place and very cool glamping😄
What a great little adventure and what fantastic landscape defentnly adding to the must see list
Sir...That was awesome. Looked like a seriously fun few days.
Great video, thanks for sharing 👌
Wow! You really make great videos. Cheers Jeff
Peak Alone is also on my list to ride one day! Great video, thanks for sharing 😊
Yeah, you will love it.... and hate it .... at the same time :-)
Brent, you definitely have the best visual videos I’ve ever seen, it’s hard to believe what I’m seeing is shot on a GoPro, if you’re not a professional cinematographer then I’m impressed with you technical knowledge and how to best use it.👍
Thanks... My first career was in film and television.. now it is just my passion. I. spent a lot of time doing testing with GoPros to work out how to get the most out of them.
Nice one Brent. If only we had as much space here in the UK.
Yes, you are right. One thing we do have is plenty of space, and an incredible amount of dirt tracks and wilderness. We are very very lucky in that respect.
Nice video and good trails...
Omgosh that was perfect!
Thanks so much :)
great bit of camera work there. plus you certainly give those bike a bit of a workout. liked the water crossings too
Yeah the views from Falcon Rd and Wadbilliga Rd are "unfortunately" spectacular at the moment - I say unfortunately because the bushfires cleared away most of the trees and undergrowth to allow you to see some of the amazing rock formations and rugged country - it wasn't always as visible, but still special. Badja Trig - before the fires you couldn't ride all the way to the top because it was over grown with tea tree and scrub. It is however great to see and hear the wildlife coming back.
The Tuross River crossing is normally only one water hole (the deep one) - with a long run up of loose sand when you are coming up from the mountain, but the floods washed all that away and you now have the 2 water sections. Hearing how much you guys enjoyed that area makes me not take it for granted so much. Great footage.
It is beautiful country. Definitely don’t take it for granted. 👍
Great production Brent. Looks like a cracker of a ride and some great riding by the crew there. Always hard to really capture steep climbs but some of those looked pretty gnarly
Hey Tripod, yes there were sure some gnarly (but fun gnarly) climbs..... You would have loved the ride.... but I know that you are a frigging Princess and don't camp :-)
Fantastic video. Very well done. I wish I could come and enjoy riding there. Much better than 1.5M of snow and -20C we have in Annaheim Saskatchewan Canada. Looking forward to watching your next adventure 🍻
Ah yes... I do feel for my Northern Hemisphere brothers that are under snow in the Winter. That certainly limits your riding and exploration. I guess you'll have to ride vicariously through our videos while you are hunkered down.
Great and inspirational video folks. Thanks for posting. I may have to get myself out there to check out those Aussie riding areas one day. Would be great to see a bike review to see your toys.
Hey Wipperwil, here are two videos that you might find interesting.

Great film! Really liked the geographic mapping effect at the beginning. Liked the camera settings and the really great motion blur balance between the trees and the rider. And the MotoZ tires are the business for sure! Well done once again!
Thanks Charles, I've been trying to improve my "map game" as I believe maps are an important part of Adventure bike storytelling.
@@brentbat well you have succeeded as the maps are excellent and really add to the story, esp the ine showing topography. I have seen a couple of vids on this and one has the software “swipe” which reveals the map and another guy animated Google Earth which was good but your software is way better
Hey Brent, I should of taken a better look at your route and your warning at (10.12 min) mark. Yes ,the Peak Alone is a real climb on a GS 1250 & Desert X. That part was a ball breaker!! Great work on sharing your experiences.😊
Whooah! Did you get up there on the GS1250 and Desert X? If so, my hat goes off to you. I don't know if I could get up there on the big bikes.... I found it challenging enough on my 701. Yes, I certainly gave fair warning about the climb. :-). It is pretty daunting isn't it when you see that hill going up the other side. GoPro footage never does it justice.
Yep you did give fair warning. That's the hardest climb I've done on the bike, not something I d like to repeat though. The other side, the downhill run was a very hang on moment also. It's a cracker ride overall just got to find a way around that mountain!!! I'm speaking with Neil this morning about the BDR ride you did with him looks quite nice and not so Peak Alone!!😁😁😁
@@guyyaffa8235 Excellent... Say hi to Neil for me when you speak to him. He's a great guy.
Hi Brent,I did book that trip with Neil, can’t wait ( July) Hey I did send a message on your vid ( nundle to glouster route - 20 creek crossings) not sure if it sent though. Just wondering, how long time wise is that trip . I wish to add another short route to it if time allows. Guy
@@guyyaffa8235 We did the Nundle trip in a weekend. A day out to Nundle, and then Day 2 we rode back to Sydney via Gloucester. They are quite bit days, but fun days that are very do-able.
Jūs esat labi draugi. 👍🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻
Bumped into you briefly at Braidwood on your way home. Nice set up and envious of the trips
Oh yeah, I remember you... You had the bling bling T7. Nice bike. The trips are there for the taking :-)
Nice work mate, looked like a blast. Greetings from Ridelifenz
Greetings RidelifeNZ. Glad you are enjoying the adventures.
@brentbat I'm hoping it wasn't the 701 that suffered the fatal blow in ep 5....
@@ridelifenz all shall be revealed shortly 😀
Fantastic, the ride down Falcon road is great, not the quickest way to go down to the coast but very scenic. Deua NP is basically 45 minutes from my place and a fun place for bikes.
Hey Rob, then you are a lucky man. I really wanted to explore Deua NP, but the rangers said the road was closed from the West, so I'll have to go back and explore another time.
Well done Brent. Stunning footage and narration. Guessing there's no regrets swapping the big GS for the 701 ;-)
No regrets whatsoever. I've realised that the type of riding I like doing is much more "Exploration" than long distance touring. So the 701 is a beast for that.
Great vid. It's good your mates like to camp half my crew all have to do the motel trips.
This is luxury for us. Normally it is minimalist moto camping off the bike (which I love). I've got a few mates who aren't up for camping, so they only do the day trips with us or the ones where we are staying in pubs and hotels.... their loss :-)
I’m always excited when your new videos come up! Perfect picture and music, but what about the sceneries… Wow
G’day Brent, I’ve been checking your channel quiet a bit of late for a new Adventure Ride video. I’ve noticed you’ve been fairly quiet mate. Hope all is good and can’t wait for your next Vid. Cheers, Ryan…
Yeah, don't you hate it when work gets in the way of Adv riding. Don't worry, I'm getting ready to head out on a 2 week ride back to the Flinders, then I've got a ride in Iceland planned later this year, and possibly one in the USA. So I'm going to make up for it. I just posted the video about my ride back to the Flinders.
You can also ride to the top of the tuross falls from the wadbiliga trail, it is one of the best rides to do in that area. Hopefully it is still accesible since the bushfire regrowth took over.
Awesome
Man I loved this one!! Where you went was one of my favs I’ve watched you guys do!! I wanna come over from the USA and ride with you boys sometime!!
Perfect. Just give me a shout when you are heading down under.
@@brentbat Heck yes - I absolutely will do that! Love all your content, the best Moto Vlog out there I'd say! Have a great group of mates here, we ride everything from Desert X, 890AR, 1290SAR, Tiger 900 x 007 edition, 390A and LOVE all the bikes.....I am intrigued and considering moving to a 690 Enduro R or 701, looks like fantastic bikes for ADV trips. Keep up the great work and look forward to watching the next trip!!
@@jaredandersen82 Where abouts are you (I'm assuming USA)? But which part?
@@brentbat We're in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Your Idaho BDR is what turned me on to the channel, me and my boys bought KTM's up in Washington State this past July and drove them home! Got to do some of the Colorado BDR, it was amazing.....
@@jaredandersen82 Got it... yes you have some great riding in the Western part of the USA. Great to be able to do a sport like this with your boys. Enjoy.
Bloody amazing shame I am in Melbourne would love to join you
Great vid as always. Love getting inspo of places to explore near to Sydney. Also, how bloody good is that bike trailer?!
Yes, that bike trailer... "The Gin Palace"... is pretty sweet.
Great video, really enjoyed watching. This is not a criticism but were you happy with the frame rate? Maybe just me but some of wasn’t as smooth as your usual stuff. Only asking because I am using all your GoPro settings and advice
Hey Nick, I know exactly what you mean....The issue is. not the frame rate it is the shutter speed. If it gets too long, then the image stabilisation doesn't work as well... so it appears a bit shakey. I am pinning the ISO to 100min and 200max and had an ND8 on. Because it couldn't lift the ISO above 200, the shutter speed dropped and the motion blur became too much for the Hypersmooth stabilisation. I should have swapped out the ND8 and put a clear lens filter on, and that would have fixed it. I was a bit lazy in those parts.
Great video, an absolute joy to watch! How did the new tyres go?
Loved the new tires. They hooked up incredibly well. I think they will last well too.... and for the short period I rode them on the road, they weren't too noisy.
Awesome production as always. Question, what bitrate do you like to export these motorcycle videos when shot in 1440p or 4K at 30fps? I use high bitrate option in the GoPro and then export via Software 60-80mps bitrate for CZcams at 4K. Huge files 😅is it an overkill?
Carlos, I edit at 1920X960 resolution (2:1), and then I upscale to 2K at a 50mbps bitrate when I export. The 2K forces CZcams to use the VP09 high resolution encoder. I have found that if you don't export at a high bitrate (like 50mbps), then you start getting compression artifacts in your mast file, and CZcams will then further degrade that when it applies it's compression algorithm. I hope this helps.
Great vid Brent as usual. What is your take on the Lynx fairing i just ordered one? The long hill climb looked fun. Big thanks for sharing the GPX files. Heading down to do the high country next month. and looking for a few tracks on the way home.
I really like the Lynx fairing for multiple reasons. I like the fact that it mounts to handlebars and frames... It feels less intrusive to me. I like the fact that I can lay out the dashboard how I wanted it. I also like the fact that you can get two windscreens and they slide down out of the way when you are on the dirt. Headlights are also excellent. It may not look the sexiest, but it is definitely super functional.
Hey Brent, I’ve been using the desert tractionator for a while now and love it. I’m curious what tablet is your mate using the with Aurora kit. I’ve been looking at the Samsung active 4 pro but always keen to get others thoughts
Hey there, I'd drop Nick Delaine a note directly, I'm sure he will be happy to give you the info. You can reach him at nick@ndlighting.com.au
@@brentbat message sent.... thanks
As usual, another great video. Thanks Brent. Do you know if Skydio will be available in Australia soon ? Is it possible to buy them from the manufacturer from Australia ?
Hey there, I can't answer the question about whether it is going to be available soon or anytime in the future.... Only Skydio can answer that. I dont' think there is anywhere that you can buy them in Australia... I know there are a handful of them here, but apparently flying them outside the US and Canada is technically against their terms of service at the moment... So while I bought mine in the USA and fly it there for some of the time... I technically shouldn't be flying it in Australia.... but that is not going to stop me.
@@brentbat Thanks Brent. Thought that would be the case. It just seems to be a simpler set-up and go when out on the track compared with the DJI gear I use
Hi Brent, Great video. I’m on a 500, solo older rider. Do you think the Peak alone climb be an easier ride on the 500 or if I reversed your day 2 route would that be any more doable? Cheers
Hey Mickey
I think you would do just fine on a 500. We had 700s and a 790 and we all got up. We aren't fancy riders either. I do think that coming at it from the South would be easier (a gentler hill up for sure).
Me and a couple of mates camped at tallaganda last weekend. We took the enduro bikes. Awesome riding. Have you got a gpx file of the big loop you guys did on the 2nd day.
Ps love your videos keep up the great work.
Hey Joel, yes, I was half expecting to bump into you on the trails. The GPX file is in the CZcams description. Enjoy.
@@brentbat do you that loop would be doable on my 800gs.
@@joelsimpson735 Yes, I think everything would be do-able.... with the possible exception of Peak Alone.... but you would have two choices there, either route around it (go further South to Yowrie Rd).... or if you are feeling adventurous and you have good tires on, then give it a crack.... If you were going to give it a crack, I'd probably have a go from the South (going up Brassknocker Rd), I think that looked a lot easier... We went up it on the North Side, and then rode down Supers track and then did the rough creek crossing. But other than Peak Alone, everything else would be totally do-able on an 800GS.
Very nice vid like always. But which trailer is it on 1:29 ?
That is Nick's "Bling Bling" fancy schmancy trailer. If you want the details, drop Nick an email, I'm sure he'll be happy to share info on it...nick@ndlighting.com.au
Great video, but check your Motoz D HT for sign of cracking on the base of the knobs all the round the whole tyre, and they won't warrant the tyre they just give you a poor excuse. Avoid if you can. Several of our guys use them on 690/701 same issues.
Hey Tony, thanks for the heads up on the Desert HT.... I'll keep a close eye on the tire. I've got another big 4-day ride coming up in a few weeks. It's strange, I had a lot of people raving about the tire in the 690/701 forum. Appreciate it.
Glamping for me is an ice cube in my whisky😂
I'm still in shock that you.... Gordon Ramsey of camping .... ate dehydrated food on one of your videos. That shattered my image of you Dan...I thought you were forever the camping gourmet and I was the pleb eating dehydrated and canned meals.
@@brentbat I’m shocked that you hold me in such high regard😂
I’m always looking for ways to improve and will endeavour to find a more suitable dinner option on future expeditions. On this occasion, please accept my sincere apologies😉
FYI - I eat dehydrated cooked breakfasts regularly on the channel, and I fricken love them🤙
Hi Brent. Love your work. Got a crew of similar aged people together who dont mind a few cross country adventures. We did your Flinders route ( almost) a while back. Now we are very keen to follow your Deua day 2 route and have loaded the gpx. Any sneaky gates we should consider? Thanks in advance.
Hey there, The day 2 route is wonderful. I'm not sure what bikes you are on, but I'll just warn you about hill climb to Peak Alone. It is challenging.... I know people that have done it on a big bike, but I'm not sure I would attempt it having ridden it. There were no gates to be aware of, but if you do our route then you'll cross that rocky river.... but you have seen what it entails, so at least you know what is in store. It's an amazing ride.... it's a long day out, but you will absolutely be blown away by it.
Enjoy
BP
Thanks Brent. We are all on 500’s , hopefully that helps with the hill😀 It looks beautiful, we are South Coast fans, I have a place North of Batemans bay and ride lots in the mountains around there. Can recommend Misty Mountain area, Buckenbowra, Western Distributor, Clyde river valley. So much to see.
@@MrClearz Oh... 500's eh? You'll have a lot of fun then. I've never heard of the areas that you are recommending, so I'll have to do some research...... Ahhhh... So many places to ride. We are so lucky.
Have a great ride.
Well feel free to look me up if you are further north - we have a very nice private ‘glamping’ spot
How do you make the 3D map animations at 1:06 ?
I'm using some pretty high-end mapping software called Geolayers (aescripts.com/geolayers/)
It runs within Adobe AfterEffects. This is not easy software to use, it has a very big learning curve. I decided I wanted to learn it because I feel that mapping is a pretty important part of adventure bike riding, and I really wanted to take my maps to the next level. But it is not for the faint hearted. If you know AfterEffects, you are in a good place to consider it.
@@brentbat Thx!
What’s the blue bike
It's a KTM 690 with the Aurora Rally kit on it and a custom sticker set. Beautiful bike.
@@brentbat I thought so it looks great I just picked up a new KTM 690 last month
@@jackchristodoulou197 Excellent, you will love it, but you do need to "finish the build" to make it suit you and your type of riding. You will find the 690/701 is more of a "Platform" with so many after market options, that is part of the fun of the bike... making it yours. Check out DK Adv's channel, he has a good video on how we built out his 701, and he rides in Vic high country.
@@brentbat yep have seen his videos, I have spent a small fortune blinging the bike up thanks to watching his and your videos, I plan on keeping this bike for a while so it’s currently at choice suspensions getting lowered for my short legs.
@@jackchristodoulou197 I think once you get this bike built the way you want it, you won't want another bike. I'm planning on keeping mine for quite a few years.
Flat tire … why not use mousse?
Hey Carsten, I will write you separately on the question of mousse.
Subscribe, due to great content and previous ones 👌
Thanks... It is a labour of love. I enjoy combining my love of video production with adventure bike riding.
Love your work with bike videography. I am interested in which Camera/s you were using. Were they fixed mounted on the bike (or helmet) and did you do any stabilisation in post production?
Hi Doug
We were using a number of GoPros, I think we had a 9 Black, 10 Black and 11 Black. I have mine chin mounted. The rear cameras were mounted using Ram mounts onto the rear of the bike. I also used an Insta 360 at one point, I had a Skydio 2+ drone and I used my Iphone 13Pro Max in Cinematic mode.
There was no stabilisation in post production, it was all done in camera.
@@brentbat Thanks, Great result.
